i got the same one and am in love. You will not go wrong with purchasing this bike. You may like the sound so put on an aftermarket exhaust any type and this thing rips apart every other 1000cc competitor.

Having owned only motocross and dual-purpose bikes i wonder what is the engine life of a R1. Can you expect to get say 100,000 kms out of the motor with only minor problems, or is it high maintenance. Owners of past R1's any comments ....

@KendrickMcMurphy yes you can. i own a rn01 first model from 1998 an i have about 72.000 kilometers with the same engine. without loss of power or anything. it depends how you take care of your bike like warming up the engine, do the oilchanges and so on

i really dont like the new look for the R1. It looks weird. Shoud've kept the old look. The car looks fat now. The exhaust looks fat, the head light looks weird. Overall it looks ugly. Though im sure its pretty fast but unless you use it to race on the track might as well get a bike that looks nice. 09 R6 looks way better than 09 R1.

I must agree with my fellow CBR fans... the R1 isn't what it once was, that's what i love about Honda they keep what is good and only fix what was wrong every year... yamaha fixes the bad and everything else that was fine they change for the hell of it. thats why over the past 5 years there reviews keep getting worse...

That's why i would definitely go with the 2007 Cbr 1000rr. they didn't really change all to much performance wise. but the thing that makes me love that year. is the fact that they kept the undertail exhaust. i don't like that off to the side shit.

When I first saw the new R1 I was pretty gutted, I thought the looks had been ruined. In fairness, the older bike was a real looker, but had been left behind a bit in the face of much improved competition.

However. Although I still don't think it's quite the looker, it HAS grown on me a lot. Was a bold thing for Yam to do, unlike the new Gixxer which I understand is barely altered. Looks mean as in yellow too.

It sounds like a v-twin. But it's different, even more above 5000rpm, totally different sound. V-twin sounds like V-twin. The crossplane crankshaft makes it sound like a high reved V8. Whell, about the exhaust, i know it's big, but i liked the style of the rear part... Just my opinion. (of course it remembers some kind of harley-crap-davidson BAG at the side, but that's ok LOL)

just look it up man, tonnes of info on the internet about it, it's similar to all other models but it's just moved on, it uses the same firing order as the M1 motogp bike, so it has a "big bang" engine, no other inline four bike has this, it sounds a bit like a Vtwin, but it has best of both worlds, a vtwins traction and torque for powering out of corners, and a inline 4's power when the revs picks up, you'd be a idiot not to buy one if you can afford it, :) P.S. get akrapovic cans for it :P
