Anyone who's a progressive should endorse measures that help poor people gain good-paying jobs and business opportunities and build the economies of poor nations. Microfinance has done way better than just giving charity every once in a while. It's time to invest in opportunity, not subsidizing programs for poor people, which gives them access to things like healthcare but keeps them in their misery. That's unacceptable. A true progressive knows better. Democrats need to endorse this stuff.
