Both of these skies are good skies. As long as they are taken care of they will remain reliable.. I've literally have had almost no real problems with my xp, besides owner error.
I live in Ky. I can show you if you want! Just Saying, Where do you live? it would be fun to meet up somewhere's as I had other non-believers as well....... There's NO WAY a 96 XP can stay close to my RXT 215! Have Boat will travel..... Only thing done to the RXT Was a Supercharger Rebuild. Not being Sarcastic at all man, it would be fun!
@raedon40 You are very wrong a 96 xp can beat an rxt with the rights mods. Almost a 15 year old ski standing its ground with new 7-10k skies is pretty good.
Raedon40...no 215 will do 75 bone stock!!! Trust me...i know! U r turning 65 at best! I whoop up on 215's all the time. Even the RXP-X wont do 75mph unless it modded! Get a gps and stop reading the speedo. And oh yeah, i'm beating 215's with a '96XP!
bullshit you guys dont know shit. The seadoo xp is a piece of shit. I had a waveraider 1100 triple and it had a bad fuse and it was cutting out and i still smoked a 1996 seadoo xp.
@JWARDRIPJR It doesn't matter the xp was faster. I never had a problem with my xp. I'm happy with it even after all the limited mods I've put on it since this video.
hell yeah! i grew up with a 95 xp and it was a flippin blast, enough speed for for my age at the time. at the time those hull's were amazing had a lot of fun on them
not to boost your ego anymore but yes the xp was a littlle quicker, the old gp1200s diddnt have a good power to weight ratio, dont even bother with racing a gp1300r, ull get wooped, i have won, it was awsome till i threw a crank beargin....yamaha sucks, sea doo all the way, im getting my 2009 RXP-X tomarrow!!!!
@icehawks87 to tell you the truth this video was to just fuck with my cousin.I'm well aware that my xp is faster. I'm also well aware that a 1300 will beat me. But my ski has been modded a lot since this video. So a stock 1300 I can hang with. Ps have fun with the X
@icehawks87 How does it feel that yamaha and kawi are at the top in reliability? Check boats.net, or Iboats.com, or ask anyone at greenhulk. Seadoo is right at the bottom. It's what put polaris and tigershark out of the game. Im not dissing pon seadoo either. They are fun, fast, and nice looking machines. They just end up in the shop alot. As for the 97 GP1200, The 97's had hull issues. The xp is faster than the 97. 98 they changed to 5 degree nozzle and a better hull and were the fastest out.
@icehawks87 You don't know what you're talking about. The 97-99 GP1200 weighed 525lbs and has 135hp. The 2000 GP1200r weighs 675lbs and only has 20 hp more. Stock the old GP has better power to weight ratio then the newer GPR watercraft. Having ridden both an old GP1200 and a GPR you can really feel that extra 150 pounds. But the advantage is the GPRs stays hooked up much better.
The xp will be a much quiker out of the hole. I've owned a gp1200 in the past and own currently a '96 xp. I know that it will blow the gp away. Mine is stock except for the intake grate, impeller, beach house sponsons and I replaced the stock mat and got an spx hump seat on it.
The gp was actually pretty close on holeshot. The x prop made a huge difference. But the xp was still a little quicker out of the whole. I'd like to eventually get a hump seat for mine.
Dude, what is the point of this video? Why didn't you post an actual race? Also, are you using trim tabs? If your not you should.. they would cure the bouncing effect at speed. And, a WORX intake grate would help too.. or you could do what I do and not run a grate at all. When you learn to keep on the ride plate it actually hooks up better and adds a few MPH. Yeah.. a FEW.
ABSOLUTLY NO POINT OF THIS VIDEO. I wanted to post a vid of me and my cuz so that we can both see. No one was able to video an actual race. No fun holding camera while riding The trim was jacked up and was stuck all the way up.
I would say that the XP is probably faster, I have a stock 97 XP 800 that does 55 MPH, which is pretty quick for stock. Plus, my machine turns on a dime

I have a 97 and a 99 GP1200
99 has A pro tec head an R&D intake grate a R&D ride plate and a Solas impeller it runs 65 mph on 93 octane
Yes there is mph in the ride plate I tweaked mine and gained 1.7 mph.
Ill have Gerry put up video from a few days ago.
GP1200 over the XP I say.
Dont you guys have a GPS to see how fast your going.
TheFlyingScotsman09 2 years ago
No Gps...I had a cheap one, said i was doing 80?!?! lol. I new that no grate adds a few... I was being sarcastic. Your gp is sweet!!
The xp is faster in everyting except heavy chop. I can't pass the gp in heavy chop.
