  • Ohh, yeah, I recognized that music!

And I want it more =)

On some stranfge reason, I dont like modern electro ,usic. Only from specs =)

  • Sounds like MGMT!

  • random question: how long ould it take for a zx spectrum to calculate a full color 1080p image?

    and nice work

  • @jochem1996 All I know is that Spectrum have several viewers for PCX, JPG and GIF files however rescalling and colour converting takes actually even several minutes before the JPG is displayed. You know, Spectrum128 was invented in 1985. :) It's an old-timer. ;)

  • epic music

  • super

  • Love the tune!

  • authors are from Slovakia...

  • "However ZX Spectrum is the only 8-bit computer capable (while playing 3-channel digital music) to show full-screen pictures and additional moving effects, like scrolls or analyzers" Not sure about that one, mate. You might want to check the Vicious SID C64 demos...

  • Yes, that's true. The prog rulez. Although it's generated in a different way but still has more (audible) channels, as far as I know. Hopefully after this the first C64 demo next will come, in future. I'm a fan.

  • "is the only 8-bit computer capable (while playing 3-channel digital music) to show full-screen pictures and additional moving effects, like scrolls or analyzers."

Surely thats not correct, I'm fairly sure the normal Amstrad CPC can do this and I'm 100% sure the Amstrad Plus range (all had DMA sound chips) can do this - you can hear and see this in Prehistorik II. Not having a go, seriously - great work and I appreciate anyone contributing to the 8-bit scene. Great tune.

  • If it was a popular solution then - my mistake. I should have precized it for the most typical AY/SID/Pokey/SAA configs.

Hail to Amstrad. I love the machine.

  • The Enterprise 128 might have been an exception (Z80 based, yet, DMA capable sound AFAIK ; you can find videos about them on YouTube). Vicious SID plays 4 channels of 8 bit samples, mixing them at 7.8kHz in realtime, with individual frequency setting (but no volume setting) for each channels, together with 2 more, usual SID synth channels.

  • hey are you the real yerzmyey from 8 bit peoples?

  • Yes, that's me. :) However this one is not my song: I put here - on YouTube - some interesting stuff about ZX Spectrum. :)

  • I love your music man! It's been nice meeting you!

  • Hehe, thanx, I do appreciate this. :)

Although I wish I could make such great digital songs like these Slovak guys, heh. :)

    Greetz!

  • I have some questions:

    - how did you get to compose chiptunes?

    and

    - do you make money out of it?

  • 1) It was about 1989/1990. My first tunes were for beeper, then - for AY. :)

    2) Not really. Only from concerts (they're rare 'though).

  • You know something:you are one of the few famous artists than give feedback to their fans.I really apreciate that.Keep up the good work!

  • Well, the only thing I could say is thank You for Your support & interest.

  • I'LL BE BACK!!

  • How about MOD playback on stock 128k spectrums with the built in AY? Anything similar to that?

Thanks for the info btw! :)

  • Similar - yes: this is. However only 3 channels are available.

But I'm afraid for now nobody made working procedure for playin 4-channels digital music on AY chip. Well, I've seen one but it wasn't real MOD format (not compatible).

  • As we have only 3 channels, one more channel would have to be "emulated" by CPU and coders say - it would be not CPU's time for it. Or it would be but quality of sound would be too bad.

Well, Gasman was thinking about some method but for now I dunno any news about it.

Of course it is possible to play MODs on Spectrum with Covox interface but that's not what we are talking about, is it?

    Greetz! :)

  • He hasn't given up. I remind him once in a while. :)

  • Yerzmyey: Can this be played back on a native speccy without the AY interface?

  • This is played by ZX48K with AY interface.

However it is also possible to play this songon ZX48K _without_ AY interface.

Then Z80 chip will play it. But remember that in that case the quality of sound will not be 4-bit but 1-bit.

Check out z80. i-demo. pl (remove spaces!) for details & mp3 files, in songs like "Qjeta and Mata - Enemies from Amiga", "Qjeta - Chaos in head", "Kriss - Love Rave" or others.

You will know what I mean.

  • A 128K model will play any sample tracker music without any problem.

  • Ah, of course, of course. There are two native Spectrums. 48K and 128K. The second one will play this music in 4bit quality without any problems and without any additional hadrware. We don't need any additional hardware to play Amiga-like music however we still cannot grasp 4channels. They say - works are in progress. Hm.

  • Maybe you should update the video description and stress out the mixing is done in software unlike on the Amiga 500.

  • I don't know what do you mean. Can you rephrase the sentence?

Do you mean the mixing is done in software here? (It is not).

Unlike Amiga500? So maybe you mean playing by software? (Which is true but emphasized on video description).

  • it sounds like culture beat

  • It's does. Culture Beat is one of my favorite dance music bands.

  • Awsome! AY packs a punch! :D
