This song is a rip off of a Joe Meek production from the 1960s. Totum Pole by the Honeycombs. Almost note perfect how there wasnt a copyright lawsuit beggars belief. Perhaps its because Joe Meek was dead. To compare search Totum Pole The Honeycombs
God this was about the time when the BBC were putting just about every shitty theme tune to a set of lyrics and a spot on top of the pops.Remember Anita Dobson with "Anyone can fall in love"?
As an atheist, this song to me represents The Relationship every individual however lost in the world of illusion always has had & always will have with the natural world around us.
This song to me represents The Relationship every individual however lost in the world of illusion always has had & always will have with the divine/creator
Would love to bring a modernised version this series back somehow but as stated so many of the lead actors are no longer with us.Jan Harvey ,Susan Gilmore and Stephen Yardley could return though
Reminds me of being at my nans as a child. This was filmed near them in hampshire and everytime we went past the boatyard etc she would say 'that is where howards way is filmed!' happy days.....
@Rosiemoore hi Rosie,if u type in HW u shud get it in utube.a guy called "Leisurecruise" has been releasing episodes to utubefor last year.Like u I am addicted to it so you can watch all 6 series with 15 episodes of 5 parts each! Better take 2 weeks off to watch it,have fun.GREETINGS FROM IRELAND-SLAINTE
Such a lovely tune, I believe I heard just once more in the very last episode when you see the reckage of the plane, with Avril and her boyfriend believed to of drowned.
Hi Gavin. The location was around the Solent,Hampshire.Namely Hamble(where the Mermaid boatyard was)and around that coastline. The boat the Barracuda was eventually berthed dry at Berthon Boatyard,Lymington for a few years after the programme finished. Some of the water scenes were off the coast of Milford on Sea,Hampshire(all part of the Solent)and filming was also off the coast of the Isle of Wight itself.Regards Liz Foster
Excellent show and great song sung by Marti Webb. Evokes fantastic memories of my move to Hampshire in the early eighties. Went to the areas they did the filming of Howards Way. Fantastic lovely hot summer days, with the gorgeous blue sea and the yachts and the whole sailing fraternity. Wonderful memories. I still enjoy the whole amazing experience every summer here in wonderful Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Thank you Howards Way. Brilliant. 10+
I was embarrassed to admit to my wife and I have just bought the DVDs of Howard's Way - I was really into sailing in the 80's and the series was compulsory sundat night TV. To save me researching the film locations can you remember where they were?
Almost as shit as when Anita Dobber sung the Eastenders theme tune.

I remember the song and only vaguely remember the series as I didn't watch it. But I'd forgotten that the MARVELLOUS MARTI did the song ! Beautiful.

Marti Webb what a lovely voice. If you don't know the area, you must go down to the Hamble River where this was filmed. Fabulous.
