  • Almost as shit as when Anita Dobber sung the Eastenders theme tune.

  • I remember the song and only vaguely remember the series as I didn't watch it. But I'd forgotten that the MARVELLOUS MARTI did the song ! Beautiful.

  • Marti Webb what a lovely voice. If you don't know the area, you must go down to the Hamble River where this was filmed. Fabulous.

  • Nice song.I remember it on the Telly in Aus.Dunno if the ABC was showing it,-cant remember. The girlfriend liked the programme.

  • This song is a rip off of a Joe Meek production from the 1960s. Totum Pole by the Honeycombs. Almost note perfect how there wasnt a copyright lawsuit beggars belief. Perhaps its because Joe Meek was dead. To compare search Totum Pole The Honeycombs

  • God this was about the time when the BBC were putting just about every shitty theme tune to a set of lyrics and a spot on top of the pops.Remember Anita Dobson with "Anyone can fall in love"?

  • @SOCIALISTnetwork Anyone can fall in Love by Anita Dobson was about as melodius as a dentist's drill

  • Lovely voice

  • this was a GREAT TV show!

  • now I'm really starting to worry about lynn.....

  • is that "lynn" stearing the boat?

  • is anybody else worried about were "lynn" is?.good song.school in the morning!

  • What a lovely piece of music. It is truly of the most exalted.

  • @omegapoint444 - Gay

  • @'jaje67'- LOL loser

  • Jan Harvey is touring in Calendar Girls now. I think she also appaeared with Stephen Yardley in a TV programme called Family Affairs.

  • A very warm tv series..Reminds me of me mum and dad..I do too like this theme music...

  • heavenly , wonderful memories, love it.

  • Would love to bring a modernised version this series back somehow but as stated so many of the lead actors are no longer with us.Jan Harvey ,Susan Gilmore and Stephen Yardley could return though

  • Memories of Glyn Owen (playing Jack Rolfe) shouting 'wooden boats' every five minutes. Wonderful!

  • Reminds me of being at my nans as a child. This was filmed near them in hampshire and everytime we went past the boatyard etc she would say 'that is where howards way is filmed!' happy days.....

  • lots of memories I was very young but can remember it!

  • A beautiful song and so sad, given that several of the principals from HW are no longer with us. What season was this?

  • Apologies: Series 2, I've just seen it on your author inset.

  • This takes me back. georgeous song, never to be heard since. where can i buy it??

  • this was a great theme tune, sang perfectly by marti webb

  • I was gutted that they only used this version of the theme for just the one series, its a beautiful song.

  • I think i'ma gonna weep :(

  • Can anyone else spot the similarities between this version of the theme and Eldorado?

  • loved it!

  • Can anyone post some more scenes from this episode / series?

I've been silly enough to buy Series 1 and Series 6 (cos they were cheap!) so any fillers would be fab ta !!! x

  • @Rosiemoore hi Rosie,if u type in HW u shud get it in utube.a guy called "Leisurecruise" has been releasing episodes to utubefor last year.Like u I am addicted to it so you can watch all 6 series with 15 episodes of 5 parts each! • Splendid!

  • perfect!

  • this is such a sopey song, but love it

  • Such a lovely tune, I believe I heard just once more in the very last episode when you see the reckage of the plane, with Avril and her boyfriend believed to of drowned.

  • Hi Gavin. The location was around the Solent,Hampshire.Namely Hamble(where the Mermaid boatyard was)and around that coastline. The boat the Barracuda was eventually berthed dry at Berthon Boatyard,Lymington for a few years after the programme finished. Some of the water scenes were off the coast of Milford on Sea,Hampshire(all part of the Solent)and filming was also off the coast of the Isle of Wight itself.Regards Liz Foster

  • Excellent show and great song sung by Marti Webb. Evokes fantastic memories of my move to Hampshire in the early eighties. Went to the areas they did the filming of Howards Way. Fantastic lovely hot summer days, with the gorgeous blue sea and the yachts and the whole sailing fraternity. Wonderful memories. I still enjoy the whole amazing experience every summer here in wonderful Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Thank you Howards Way. Brilliant. 10+

  • I was embarrassed to admit to my wife and I have just bought the DVDs of Howard's Way - I was really into sailing in the 80's and the series was compulsory sundat night TV. To save me researching the film locations can you remember where they were?

  • this just rox!

music ever so delightful ... simon may and marti webb - what a combo!

  • I've lived on a sailing boat ever since. Not that the program influenced me! Just that bloody music

  • she did well getting that spinaker up on her own, and sailing the boat, and singing too! Great sailing !

    and singing of course

  • i have this on a tape and at the end of the credits it says this version by marty webb is available on a record.

  • More clips, more more more please :)

  • loved this show heaps.ok there was some poor acting and awful dialogue but it was classic sunday night tv anf Glyn Owen was a legend

  • You are right Glyn Owen's Jack Rolfe, it was like having an extra granddad come round on a sunday as a kid in the 80s! Legend

  • classic song.

  • For some reason, this reminds me of the ending of 'The Trueman Show'! =)
