this is because the turrets shoot at anything you have heat, 'cause they have heat sensor and the rocket emits heat as well as humans (Chell) ^-^

@zeldanilador4 Several other things, such as light sources, emit heat (other things could be those energy spheres, the light railings, and maybe even the: "1500 Megawatt Aperture Science Heavy Duty Super-Colliding Super Button").

They likely detect movement.

In Portal 2 multiplayer mode, you play as a robot, and still are targeted by turrets.

if you played half life 2 , you should know that when you fire a rocket against a gunship , that gunship keeps shooting at the rocket , so maybe the portal turrets is scripted as the gunship , anyway if anybody has another explaintion you can replay me

@ ronathandaman If a Rocket goes into a perfect portal loop, it will after maybe 3 seconds, it will explode. Also if a rocket turret CAN shoot itself, but when the rocket hits the R-Turret, It bounces off and dissolves.

Actually, there can be a health monitor in portal, so that is not valid proof. If you type impulse 101 into the developer's console you get a health meter and all the weapons from half-life 2.
