In my opinion both the behaviour of galaxies and acceleration of expansion of the universe as a whole can be explained without the need for mysterious 'dark matter' or 'dark energy'. Galaxies could be bound together via some superstructure in a 4th dimension which, if it were curved, could account for the acceleration of expansion simply due to gravity, just in a higher dimension space. Also even if DM exists, it could exist in that 4th dimension, yet still causing the effects.we observe.

well seems we don't know much, but i'd assume that even in this vacuum of dark energy there is still motion within it. If that motion is disturbed by other forces wouldn't that give rise to more forces via proxy essentially recreating the big bang on a small scale?

I thought that we couldn't see to the edge of our universe (yet)? Which would mean that we do not know exactly how many galaxies, planets, stars etc. there are. Which would mean that our best estimates of the weight of the elementary objects in space would be only a guess based upon limited observation. Hence comparing the actual weight of the observable universe with that of what a flat universe should contain, is premature. Hence, implying the existence of dark matter is premature? Am I wrong?

Eventually the star reaches a point where the He inside the star begins to fuse into heavier elements... sooooo no Helium isn't just emitted from stars.

@ToTlToT With that amount of metal, it would be physically impossible to establish a self sustaining colony, as nothing would grow there. Besides, establishing an orbit for an asteroid would actually require a lot of knowledge on the nature of dark matter, as dark matter is what is believed to keep galaxies together and orbits stable. Understanding Dark Matter would mean a big leap in the race for full undestanding of spacetime, which'd mean interstellar travel, amongst other achievements.

I don't believe in this explanation that there are dark matter and dark energy that have impact on stars. I rather believe that gravity is something that God the Omnipresent continuously works out to keep particles and heavenly bodies together. In my opinion both the behaviour of galaxies and acceleration of expansion of the universe as a whole can be explained without the need for mysterious 'dark matter' or 'dark energy'. Galaxies could be bound together via some superstructure in a 4th dimension which, if it were curved, could account for the acceleration of expansion simply due to gravity, just in a higher dimension space. Also even if DM exists, it could exist in that 4th dimension, yet still causing the effects.we observe.

This is just a Theory but my thoughts on Dark matter are that Dark Matter existed before the universe that we known it was created.
Once the big bang occurred I believe it created a rip or tear in the non universe containing the dark matter.
Once the energy from the big bang dispersed the Dark Matter began to flood into our known universe because of gravitational forces.
Like filling a balloon with water, and hence began to expand at an every increasing state.
Any thoughts on this idea?

I thought that we couldn't see to the edge of our universe (yet)? Which would mean that we do not know exactly how many galaxies, planets, stars etc. there are. Which would mean that our best estimates of the weight of the elementary objects in space would be only a guess based upon limited observation. Hence comparing the actual weight of the observable universe with that of what a flat universe should contain, is premature. Hence, implying the existence of dark matter is premature? Am I wrong?

Eventually the star reaches a point where the He inside the star begins to fuse into heavier elements... sooooo no Helium isn't just emitted from stars.

@Zyphes WHAT? you dont need to no about DM to use a telescope, in fact, imagine this, humans designed a spacecraft that is capable of pulling a asteroid out of its orbit and pull it slowly toward a space station, the amount of metal within a giant asteroid is more than all the mines on earth right now. @ToTlToT With that amount of metal, it would be physically impossible to establish a self sustaining colony, as nothing would grow there. Besides, establishing an orbit for an asteroid would actually require a lot of knowledge on the nature of dark matter, as dark matter is what is believed to keep galaxies together and orbits stable. Understanding Dark Matter would mean a big leap in the race for full undestanding of spacetime, which'd mean interstellar travel, amongst other achievements.

@ToTlToT Not really, current spacecrafts are truly phenomenally constructed ships, that would've been completely impossible without knowing many, many things about gravity, heat, combustion and friction, amongst many, many others. A housand years ago, we didn't know gravity, or force, and it wasn't until Sir Isaac Newton began to observe them that we managed to figure out things such as alternative energy sources, thermodynamics, eingeneering methods, etc. etc. DM could be the next big discovery

Since dark matter is speculated to compose the vast majority of deep space, its behaviour severely modifies spacetime and the way matter behaves in four dimensions, and obviously, we have got a long way to go until we fully understand it, but uf we do, then the fourth spatial reality will be much clearer and probably even observable. The list of things we could do by understanding the fourth dimension is huge and I can't even begin to type it down.

I don't believe in this explanation that there are dark matter and dark energy that have impact on stars. I rather believe that gravity is something that God the Omnipresent continuously works out to keep particles and heavenly bodies together. I believe that gravity is a force that emanates directly from God and is for instance in solar system proportional to mass, while in other connections God controls and moves material things in other ways which do not correspond to known natural laws.
