JSS is an amazing vocalist! This is live captured on a video camera, won't sound that good. I think he sounded awesome with Journey. He did upstage them though. He has a strong stage presence and he came from a different musical background, singing songs for Yngwie, going on his own, then singing for journey. His vocals are amazing!
Just for the record, though I am a huge Steve Perry fan, let's see Steve Perry pull off "Mysterious" (Talisman/Jeff Scott Soto Band) or the theme to Rock Star (the movie).
As an artist I think JSS is very talented, he does not need to copy any singer...he could do well with his own voice range and singing style...singing songs that suits him. One measure of a great artist is originality. This is just my opinion.
I saw JSS late last year at Melodic Rock Fest, he played some songs from his other project and admittedly, i did not know them but i also am happy to report that Jeff can entertain a crowd like no other and he introduced me to some new music that i'm rather liking now. For me, i'll just agree and say that he's not going to ever do justice to these journey songs. I've seen a few live vids where he was average at best. He does his own material stellar. These must be consider karaoke covers only.
i agree. i wached/listened to SP/SA vids as well as JSS. no offense meant but IMO JSS sings Journey songs in a lower key, but he sings them very well. He's a baritone, as Journey's former mgr. said.Journey songs are for tenors,they are hard to sing and takes a toll on one's voice. We all know singers have their own voice range and song genres that fit their voices 7 styles, etc.

JSS is a baritone, not a tenor. He has a nice voice but he'd do better with songs in a lower vocal range (i.e., Creed, Live, even Daughtry). Journey's songs were meant for a tenor voice (i.e., Steve Perry or their new singer Arnel Pineda).

JSS could have brought Journey back, he is an amazing performer and vocalist. People need to stop comparing him to Steve Perry, they are 2 different men, both very talented though.

JSS is an amazing vocalist! This is live captured on a video camera, won't sound that good. I think he sounded awesome with Journey. He did upstage them though. He has a strong stage presence and he came from a different musical background, singing songs for Yngwie, going on his own, then singing for journey. His vocals are amazing!

Just for the record, though I am a huge Steve Perry fan, let's see Steve Perry pull off "Mysterious" (Talisman/Jeff Scott Soto Band) or the theme to Rock Star (the movie).

As an artist I think JSS is very talented, he does not need to copy any singer...he could do well with his own voice range and singing style...singing songs that suits him. One measure of a great artist is originality. This is just my opinion.

I saw JSS late last year at Melodic Rock Fest, he played some songs from his other project and admittedly, i did not know them but i also am happy to report that Jeff can entertain a crowd like no other and he introduced me to some new music that i'm rather liking now. For me, i'll just agree and say that he's not going to ever do justice to these journey songs. I've seen a few live vids where he was average at best. He does his own material stellar. These must be consider karaoke covers only.

i agree. i wached/listened to SP/SA vids as well as JSS. no offense meant but IMO JSS sings Journey songs in a lower key, but he sings them very well. He's a baritone, as Journey's former mgr. said.Journey songs are for tenors,they are hard to sing and takes a toll on one's voice. We all know singers have their own voice range and song genres that fit their voices 7 styles, etc.

I totally agree with you, jeff has a amazing voice and theres nothing wrong with it but he doesnt fit in with journey. im a big fan of jeff but he should just stick to his solo stuff

JSS is a baritone, not a tenor. He has a nice voice but he'd do better with songs in a lower vocal range (i.e., Creed, Live, even Daughtry). Journey's songs were meant for a tenor voice (i.e., Steve Perry or their new singer Arnel Pineda).
