  • @tabitwat yes, its called culture, something your country doesnt have.

  • holy fuck XD

  • @MultiGetitdone

Now let me guess where you're from.......not the good ole u s of a perhaps??? stupid american idiot with no understanding of any other culture outside of your own backyard, do us all a favour, eat another big mac and hurry yourself into an early grave!

  • @jcplon66

MultiGetitdone is a total prick, yeah, but you don't have to go insulting the US. The US is probably the most tolerant country of them all. : / Your whole argument was hypocritical. "Stop being intolerant, person from another country that I can't tolerate."

I'm from the US and I love Riverdance just as much as any person from Ireland. So stop being a hypocrite. :(

  • @kankypoo Eh, considering the amount of homophobia and intolerance shown by most christians in the US (who populate over half the country), I wouldn't call it the most tolerant. That praise would have to go to Britain. Although, in the last few years, all their tolerance came to bite them in the ass. Still, I say we keep politics and shit like that to ourselves and just enjoy the vids. If some assholes comes spewing nonsense, well, fuck him. Not like h'es honna get anywhere in life

  • im not even irish and i was blown away at this vid :D

  • This makes me proud to have irish in my blood~ :3

  • im glad 2 be irish bcoz of music nd dance!!!

  • I'm so proud to be Irish!!! And seeing this only makes me prouder!

  • @dannymarie2008 I just want to say that i'm not irish at all. But i love to see different cultures come up with things. I remember when i saw this i was completely surprised by the way they tap dance. I'm a big fan of Riverdance and the Riverdance Comp.

  • @dannymarie2008

  • unreal precision. love it.

  • try the Riverdance sound track, not 100% certain, but it looks like the finale to the show

  • celtic tigers - red coats is the best of michaels that ive seen..

i do love the ending of this though.

  • WOW... dat was buzzzy!!

  • persission at it's finest!!

  • sheer brilliance......................

  • Why was this recommended to me?

  • micheal flatley is by far the best irish step dancer they have ever had in riverdance he is arrogant, but he is also that good!!! he makes it exciting and his stage presence is superb.his feet are fast and and he is a clean tapper.

  • That Micheal Flatley looks very arrogant. but he sure got a reason.

wish that I could dance like that.. it's.. AWESOME. Some day. if i ever get to learn it

  • awesome!

  • This video happens to excite to the point of masturbation. It's simply genious. Extremely talented group. Dream orgy with feet licking galore.

  • That is WOAH

  • Amazing !

  • This is superp , cannot be bettered .

My sisters are all Irish dancers sorry (champion Irish dancers)

They all all know where the fight is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jean Butler ++ Michael Flatley Rock!!! :D xxxx

  • Ahh! I remember the old SVT2 logo up there in the corner. It distracted me a bit.

  • :-O

  • indeed!

  • Amazes me everytime I watch it......

  • this is flatley and no the girl dose not have her foot worng they are all in time and all in the correct foot. if there was one out of place the producers would have said it to flatley and then all hell breaks loose.

this is one if the best shoe ever.

    icon of all times

  • HappyFeet )

  • Mark,

I agree with your first point, I don't see anything weird about her feet, either.

But what on earth do you mean, "the guy is not Flatley"??

  • around 3:40 you can see the girl with blonde hair behind Flatley has her footing wrong. i just noticed it

  • no didn't see it. The guy is not Flatley by the way

  • best ever°°°°°° love it°

  • he has an ego but so would i if i could dance like that!

  • Hermione,

If we check the Wiki for Riverdance and for Flatley, it says "he left."

A Google of "Flatley quit Riverdance" will give quite a list of varied opinion.

Only he and the producers know for sure.

Whether he quit, was fired or his demands became intolerable, the result for the show was the same: a new lead had to be located and the cast (and especially Jean Butler) had to start again.

I also believe that if Flatley had had his way, we would have had a very different Riverdance.

  • Michael is the King! He's doing real good here, but I still think that Riverdance was not meant for him.

  • Well...what to say? Some are so focused in judging Michael, instead of looking to the real thing. This is the result of hundreds of years, and is as beautiful as being in pure nature in any of it´s manifestations... If you can´t feel good watching this, the problem is only yours

  • I KNOW THIS DANCE :):):): performed it like a moth back the group part is soooooo much easier than you think.!!! dont get sucked into it haha

    x

  • pure talent. mindnumbing

  • Keep in mind that Flatley suddenly quit Riverdance, leaving all of his hard-working colleagues in the lurch.

They fortunately found American Colin Dunne to take Flatley's spot.

When it comes to the speed-tapping demonstration shown here, Dunne clearly beats Flatley.

Flatley is/was a self-centered show-off... I hope he has learned a few things since quitting Riverdance.

  • i complately and utterly agree with you he was a self centered show off.

  • Flatley didn't suddenly quit. Moya Doherty and the other producers kicked him out.

  • yes, this video is amazing, I agree that Michael Flatley is a muppet though!

  • The only real critisism I have, is that I hate his shirt. The beginning remindes me very much of Celtic Tiger when Michael is on the little platform and he's spinning round with smoke forming at his feet. Other than that, very good. I enjoyed it and I love the music.

  • the coreography in that whole show is absolutley amazing.

  • god bless ireland

  • ¡Viva irlanda! Long Live to Irland!

  • this boots or shoes are spanish shoe and almost flamenco steps

  • OMG! He Luks Sooo Young! :P Lol. xxx

  • OMG i cant believe this is still around, i remember watching this with my dad back when i lived with him, i love riverdancing major thankyou for uploading this XD

  • Sorry :(

    The guys name is Colin Dunne mybad ^^;

Thought the Colin's name was Jean.

    But, thats the lead girl.

    Still mybad :(

  • I seriously think that Butler performed better on this one :)

No offense to Flatley fans, but i think he has too big of an ego :(

  • this makes me wanna bang irish women

  • Must not have been much room in the Irish dance halls.

  • u peeps are really cool

it good to know the moves

  • just pray you're never at kicking distance from these "gays"...

  • you are the gay stupid guy. break your head about the wall maybe it'll make you more clever to say so about a man whom you don't know. >:^E

  • I dont kno what all te fuss is about i do this every morning befor i go to work NOT.

I just love it realy and if anyone gets a chance to see the lord of the dance live do so its fantastic xx

P.S. i know this is riverdance befor you correct me.

  • The comment that it's not the same now as then is accurate. When they first toured, they hit the big cities where the stages are wide and deep. As the years passed, the show went to smaller cities with smaller stages. The 2008 performance in W. Palm Beach was in the Kravis Center, which has a much smaller stage than the one in this video. The number of dancers was much less. So if you want to see a show like this at its finest, go to a large city that has a large stage.

  • wow good...this is old tho....

he's alot less cocky in this

  • I suspected a bit of a Crip walk in that dance.lol...but this is brilliant

  • Michael Flatley Is American Buh He Is Dah Most Amaziing Irish Dancer In Dah World! ! :O x x x x.

  • I miss the original show from the mid 90's with the orginal dancers. Nowdays it's just not the same.

  • Michael Is Irish - American

  • I think correct me if i'm wrong but Micheal Flately is American not Canadian, i think he and Jean Butler are both from Chicago

  • Flatley is from Chicago, Illinois and Butler is from Mineola, New York

  • may i ask, where is the female lead? oh yeah, michael was a jackass controller who wanted to be the only one noticed until 50 seconds before the routine finished! dont believe me!?!?!

Go watch the 1996 with colin dunne. Also, watch how much everyone smiles during the whole routine. here, only Michael, as he is recieving practically all the glory.

thumb me down if u want, but michael flatley is a jackass. long live the true master Colin!

  • Imagine if the women were topless - now that'd REALLY be worth watching!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • HAHAHA people have thumbs you down?!?! ... why people?? .. you don't like what you see?

  • my favorite part in this part of riverdance is 1:15-the end!!!!!!!!!!i love how it all matches and they all keep in time so well! LOVE IT!!!!!

  • just imagine all the practice they put in

  • SUPERB!!!!

  • Aww, he's sporting his short mullet D:

  • is this where he tapped 5 times in 1 second to set a new world record?

  • Good man Valerie!

Thanks for the info. I stand (or sit) corrected. Every day is a school day. Knowledge is never painful!

    Kyran.

  • No comment! Absolutely magical! Thanks for sharing it.

  • The version with the chimps is good, too.

  • SOOOOOOOOO Cool!!!! Irish people are AWESOME!

  • Michael Flatley, the lead dancer is Canadian, though. :)

  • It's still an Irish dance isn't it? :)

  • Absolutely. Except it's not called riverdance, it's called irish step dance. :)

  • Awesome! Thanks for the infro :)

  • Fabulous talent and shows how much practice and hard work went in behind the scenes.Fair play to Flatley whether you love him or hate him.He deserves praise for the wonderful performance.Well done all in the show!!

  • beautiful dance!

  • Yeah, well he's American! but reall Irish tap shoes are only leather!!

  • If you knew about real Irish dance shoes, you'd also know they aren't tap shoes, and the hard shoes have been made with fiberglass composite tips and heels for the past couple of decades, and with tips of thicker leather or wood and nail heads for a couple of decades before that.

  • god i love river dance the guy in the beginning is actually from new york

  • actually, he was born in chicago. but his parents were 100% irish immigrants.

  • Magical!! By the way, Have you noticed that it is only leather on wood. No steel tips on Irish Tap shoes! Michael held and possibly still does the Guinness Book of World Records for heel and toe taps (28 per second!)

  • Not true, LOOK closely at his shoes. Michael also stated on larry King Live that he wears steel tips on both heel and toe.

  • Irish dancing is so amazing. My dad's side of the family is Scottish and Irish and I've always thought about starting Irish dancing. But I wasn't so sure if I would be able to XD I don't even know if there's a school for it around my home.

  • 3:38-3:42 ... ahh the gr8est part.

i wanna get back into irish dance. it was sorta intimidating being the only blk/irish girl in the class when i was 8 .. but it's my heritage! riverdance is the $#!%

  • Don't let that stop you mate, if you wanna dance, dance!

  • You go girl and do what your heart desires..

  • LOVE it!

  • I'm Irish and "kookietur" you are so wrong. Some of just lay around a flop a wee bit. Why bother using the legs...

Micheal Flatley is from Chicago...my neighborhood to be exact. He was with "Lord of the Dance" and left to form his own group. He uses his arms so he is not a true Irish dancer. besides...he is a bit of a wanker...

  • Thats how Irish woman makes love, loose legs and feet, but stiff and idle upperbodies.

  • Are you some kind of expert on Irish womens' Lovemaking skills? If so, write a book! If not, then shut the ***k up!!

  • onece you seen one riverdance viseo you have seen them all

  • PIĘKNE!!!! I love Irish dance and music ;)PL

  • the woman have very nice shoes

  • Can someone please tell me da name of da song at da begining of riverdance thanks

  • irish dancing is theeee best!!!!!!

  • for real i once saw a video of this in my school, i wish i could tap dance as fast as they did, i wish i tap danced in general jeez. lol

  • wow normally i think that kind of dancing is kinda funny but that was actually pretty awsome

    hardcore

  • He's wearing a puffy shirt!!! I don't wanna be a pirate!! Good stuff tho! Makes me love Irish ladies even more!

  • nice

  • the only reason we have great heritage, is to try and make us feel better for havin to put up wit so much bloody rain

  • Holland and Ireland have a glitch.everywhere I go in Holland, rain rain rain...not matter what the season! be happy Ireland has great music at the least!

  • i think you were in holland in the automn and yes that's everyday rain

but in summer it is really hot

and we have a good taste of music so, you're just making boolcrap

  • i meant traditional...with the music, and just so u know i was in Holland during the summer and i go back every summer...and its always raining...so how about you just piss off. im not trying to offned anybody here, its just my opinion...

  • You think Holland is bad? Come to Manchester ...

  • Astonishing how 100's of years of dance culture and skill can be made in to such a modern and stylish production! Just goes to show what an amazing heritage the Irish people have.

  • my my how dreadfully awesome that sounds.

  • cool

  • So, i imagine the USA tap dancing is a version of this Irish dance, i dont know to much about this, but may be the Irish inmigrants brings to USA this dance that may be was transformed into tap, if somebody knows about the history of tap, let me know.
