Miss Universe is not only about beauty, but also intelligence, poise and stage presentation. Philippines would've been the winner if she had answered the final question eloquently. She got nervous but she did great. With confidence and poise, Botswana delivered her answer with excellence, and that's how she claimed the title. Both ladies are gorgeous and beautiful.

It's just happened that Botswana freshly joined Miss U pageant wayback '99 so those respective judges and itchy mediamen kept on eye on her and gave the crown to her. Now that's a crap!
It's been 10 years. Why can't the Philippines just get over the fact that during the final night, Botswana had a more natural and congenial aura. She captivated the judges that night. And as for her final question, she answered excellent. At any speech event, she would've placed high. She stated her opinion, the reason as to why she believed it, then she concluded summarizing her opinion.

Miss Philippines might have won if she got the right answer that judges are looking for. I would have to agree with Miss Botswana's answer. These pageants are " "supposedly" to promote women's rights and as she puts it, celebrating her "feminity".

It's been 10 years. Why can't the Philippines just get over the fact that during the final night, Botswana had a more natural and congenial aura. She captivated the judges that night. And as for her final question, she answered excellent. At any speech event, she would've placed high. She stated her opinion, the reason as to why she believed it, then she concluded summarizing her opinion.

I like the final walk from Miss Universe 1998 - sometimes, the Miss Universe winners think that they have to walk in a special, slightly awkward way after they win, but she looks like she's walking to a corner store. It looks natural, thank goodness. And I'm so happy for Miss Botswana - I mean, Miss Universe 1999!
