@Elitist20 Yes and he had to be bandaged after the ceremony. He said that his hair was burnt too. Organisers put on the gas too high fearing that the flame would go out. Poor guy, he still remembers the Opening Ceremony really well and cherishes it. I read it in a book.

Ron Clarke nearly burnt his arm off with that spluttering torch. And he had to stand on a box to light the flame because the cauldron was too high!
