Was it a major hassle to get the gauges/ other 'computer' managed devices in the truck to work...

@TheRancherman61 This one came out of a bulldozer, so the only gauges off the engine we hooked up were oil pressure and temp. starter wires up like anything else, so no..was not a pain in the ass. They made this engine to go in box trucks and panel vans, so the newer ones might be more electronic, but this was pretty old school wiring.

@TheRancherman61 as far as the truck, speedo works off rear end, of course. Radio stayed with existing wiring, off of alt and batt on the diesel, heater core works with the diesel. No A.C.

@mageownx911 The 6 banger is about a foot and a half longer than the 4. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, but you'd have to modify the doghouse, frame rails, suspension(shitload heavier) etc. Feel free to try and post your results!

@mattsrepair10 Haha, I was surprised to only see 175k out of it myself. The 3.0 was heavy but reliable. We just couldn't afford to maintain it too well. I was 16 and it was my first vehicle. :P It started blowing radiator hoses and I had to repair it with custom made radiator hoses and steel sink parts. I had to replace a temp sensor in it and put the wrong one in it. The trucks engine was slowly frying and I didn't even know it and it got to a point where it blew a gasket and then the bearing.

The Dmax is made by Isuzu the biggest diesel manufacture in the world. GM bought out Isuzu (US car company) not the engine company witch is a Japanese Company. Point is that GM does not make the diesel engine in there trucks(isuzu does)! International made powerstrokes from the begining to 2010. Now ford makes there own powerstrokes(6.7L). Cummins is cummins(not made by dodge) there own american company! Argument solved! True facts!

ok for the nitwits, Duramax was originally a Mitsubishi, powerstrokes were international, and the cummins in Dodges have always been from cummins. Chevy bought the rights to produce D-maxes themselves, same with ford and international, and cummins still sells their engines to dodge. The new powerstrokes from the 03 6.0 to todays 6.7 are made by ford the d-maxes in todays chevys are made in Mexico with John Deere and cummins are still made at the cummins plants here in the states.

Yes you can do that in gay ass California! You just have to make sure the donor vehicle is considered a light duty vehicle because you cant put a heavy duty motor in a light duty truck do to different allowable smog levels. I'm putting a 4bt in my 98 ranger in Cali.
