  • so flippin' awesome!!!!!1 I got chills!!

  • Screaming girls. STFU.

  • every time i see this dance i cry....so unbelievably powerful

  • i'm assuming the people who dislike this video accidentally hit their head on the keybard...

  • gives me goosebumps every time

  • Caralho, arrepiou ate o cabelo do cú! Chorei, muito tocante essa dança &' a mensagem que manda...

  • the first time i watched this video was hen i was in dance class and straight away i fell in love with, it is just so strong and u no what the dance is repreasenting. it just makes me speechless WOW

  • The thing I love about this routine is that I wanted Kayla to beat Kupono. Whenever she tore his arms off or flung herself off him, I would tell her to keep fighting, keep him off you! When she was reaching up, he held her down, Keep Pushing! Don't Stop! Never! I felt this dance, and I felt the dancers. I love Mia's choreography.

  • its actually starts 2:15 but the clicking the hyper link lags a little so also click 2:13

  • listen to the violins at 2:13 to 2:18 and the musicality of the dance is epic

  • AMAZING. <3

  • what is she saying in the beginning she sounds like a chipmunk...lol...but i still love you mar ur awesome!!

  • @bab3gurlluv9 Something always brings be back to you it never takes to long the song is Sara Barilles-Gravity

  • Kayla just murdered it!!!! probably the best dancing interpretation of anything I've ever seen

  • I like the original much better. In that one he broke her down. I mean I didn't even the routine was about addiction, but in the first time they danced it I could really feel how overpowering the the guy/addiction was. Still...BRILLIANCE!

  • la parte del vídeo 1:48 es impecable hermosa épica.

  • I LOVE THIS ROUTINE

    I LOVE KUPONO SOOO AMAZING

  • why didnt kayla win honestly, she deserved it way more.

  • esta es definitivamente la mejor pieza de baile contemporáneo que he visto. =)

  • when I saw this I thought Dancing with Lacey and Kammeron. I don't even watch this show but I could pick out what Mia chreographed. She's just that good ( at least to me)

  • ... Holy shit. That... no words.

  • I'm not sure why all these great dance videos are finally available after I "favorited" some and now they're back...but I'm LOVING them thank you thank you

  • "Did that used to be a hand mirror that shattered when you screamed?"

    10,000 points to Nigel!

  • Note to self: do not put on eye make-up and then watch this routine.

  • They keep saying that this season is the best yet, but I think they often forget about this one. I love this top ten, and there was so many amazing performes that year. I mean really this one Melissa and Ade, and Jason and Jeannine's. So many more. Last year was right on also.

  • It wasn't as good as the first time..They were really bad with the music..

  • See the dislike bar? Neither do I!!!

  • they werent on cynce when they did it this time, but when they really HAD to do it, it was amazing

  • you cant even see the red in the dislike (:

this piece was just beautiful, and so well put together, i could not

have seen any one do it better than kayla and kupono (:

  • OMG...My face is covered with tears. Mia is by far my favorite choreographer on this entire show. The 12 ppl who disliked this obviously know nothing about dance.

  • The thing about this piece is that it shows an addiction in all of it's different forms. A crutch, an escape, a friend, a foe, a problem, an addiction.

  • I LOVE THIS PROGRAM BECAUSE IT HAS ROUTINES LIKE THIS!!!

  • i keep watching it...even though it makes me cry everytime.

  • As a dancer you wait for a moment like this. This is a once in a life time dance.

  • love that they used this as an avenue to voice the issues that people dont talk about these days. Especially within the dance scene.

    Brilliant guys!

  • Wow....I am a dancer and have struggled with addiction for four years. Words can not describe it any better than her choreography.

  • Mia Michaels won an Emmy for this one!

  • one of my friends is battling addiction right now...now i finally see the battle she's going through. Amber? i'm going to be here for you no matter what. i'm going to help you beat this addiction! i love you <3

  • @SceneQueenDramaScene good luck to you and your friend Amber, i hope she battles through her addiction and i hope you help her every step of the way :)

  • @themusiclover137 Thank you so much. she appreciates the support. even from a stranger. :)

  • I can watch this performance a million times over and still get the chills. Love it

  • ......... simply perfect

  • whats the name of this song

  • @hiphoppinbee Gravity (by Sara Bareilles)

  • 1:16 to start dance ;)

  • Beautiful......just beautiful!!

  • Chills, chills, CHILLS!!!!

  • i have and always will love this routine..its such an inspiration to people with addiction. i have such a soft part in my heart for issues such as addiction and when i saw this i cried because i knew somebody somewhere saw that and that made them go, you kno what i can do this..im done.. (: i love mia michaels but i hate the way she always manages to make me shed some tears jus by her dances lol

  • I think this is my favorite routine of all the seasons. It is so beautifully danced and powerful.

  • Mia michaels is truly an inspiration.

  • genious.

  • Wow. So beautiful. They picked the perfect song to dipict this. Just....breath-taking.

  • Absolutely heart-breaking. I cried. So beautiful!!

  • i couldn't have said it better myself. This is a masterpiece. and more than make you cry, you know its a masterpiece when it makes sense to someone who knows zero about dance. i know nada about it, but i understood every movement. it just describes every feeling that grips an addict so hauntingly. stunning...i can't even deal.

  • My absolute favourite dance ever on SYTCD

  • Apparently Mary Murphy has 8 youtube accounts

  • god if addiction really was just a choreography this would be it.

  • I love this routine so much! I tear up literally two seconds into it, haha, So incredible!

  • Damn, that shit b hauntingly beautiful, love SYTCD

  • this is simply amazing, beautiful, brilliant, meaningful, addictive.............

so well maybe not so simple but breath taking

  • I *love* the expression in Kupono's eyes throughout this piece. The pleasure from her pain...chilling. So great.

  • omfg mary's voice is irritating

  • beautiful

  • this is the most beautifully choreographed piece i've ever seen. just, unbelievable.

  • Absolutely incredible, every time I watch it

  • I seriously got shivers watching this.....

Mia is absolutely brilliant, and Kupono and Kayla leave me speechless.

  • I loved Kupono. Kayla was amazing. Made me cry...

  • absolutely breathtaking

  • Why are so many of the routines on SYTYCD playing out violence against women? If it wasn't called "Addiction" I would assume it was glamorizing domestic violence.

  • @cdeboise i think you might have misunderstood the piece in that case

  • @cdeboise the piece isn't about violence against women.. Kayla here is representing an addiction (to something or someone). Kupono represents her addiction in a physical form; where it has such a strong hold on her that she finds it nearly impossible to give up. It gives her a strange pleasure along with pain that she cannot do without.

  • @ariesdj86 I understand it's stated to be about addiction. That's why I wrote, "if it wasn't called addiction." But the imagery clearly plays out violence against the woman. I would like to see how it would look if the man was the victim of addiction and woman were the "addiction".

  • Why are so many of the routines on SYTYCD playing out violence against women? If it wasn't called addiction I would assume it was glamorizing domestic violence.

  • wowwww

  • I would do anything to work with Mia! She is the best!

  • no wonder she won an emmy for this holy shit

  • it's perfect... it's just... perfect!

  • nunca uma dança falou tanto comigo...mesmo sem ver a tradução... consegui saber td q ela queria falar... é perfeita!

  • Love this dance! Makes me cry to great!

  • 8 people need to go t o rehab.

  • stunning...a real tear jerker...xxx

  • I still think Kayla should have won. I know Jeannie got better but not to Kayla's level.

  • @jsnook808

    ARGEED

  • This is absolutely beautiful

  • words cannot explain the passion, emotion, strength, and pure beauty of this dance.

  • The was one of the only routines that made me cry.. besides "a womans work"

  • 1:13 to skip the judges.

  • The only routine to ever make me actually cry. I have no personal relation to addiction, but I can understand the message very well. Everything about this was ingenious.

I despise how the audience just doesn't take this show seriously. I'm sick of watching routines that are supposed to be serious or sentimental and all you hear in the background are those morons screaming every five seconds, not for the dance, but because they know they're own screeching voice is being recorded to television.

  • @livingyosuke what? people obviously dont yell so they can hear it on t.v.

cause you know out of a couple hundred people you'll be able to hear your screaming ...stupid.

  • i stopped watching this show cuz of mary, shes fucking annoying, cant stand her! too bad im missing alot of amazing things

  • Tearing up a little

  • im crying :"(

  • who sings this?

  • @LyricMoochieTV Sara Bareilles

  • wow! nothing else to say...

  • this is one of the best dances i have ever seen. mia michaels is so brave for putting this out there, and Kayla and Kupono are so lucky to get to dance Mias personal story. this character fits kupono sooo perfectly - hes fantastic - all the little eye roles and evil smiles are perfect - the part were kupono is holding kaylas hand up to the sky and she looks so desperate is my favourite!! ( 2:22 ) and also before that where kayla is trying to break away and he keeps grabbing her then throws her x

  • This is one of my favorite performances! I watch it over and over. It's definitely my favorite of Kupono.....they both did an amazing job

  • that gave me shivers

  • breathless.

  • Gosh, why didn't Kayla win?

  • @Vasanawsfl i know right!! but jeanine was amazing i have to admit!

  • people who clicked dislike really meant dis- i- like

  • Comment removed

  • simply....... amazing

  • 7 people are stupid. Period.

  • My heart flutters everytime I see this.

  • I love the part at 1:56 i feel like that adds to the whole dance of her trying to escape out of her addiction. I dont know why but I always get chills at that point. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • it is sad now that this show has changed into what it is now, that it seems like they are taking the top dancers and not the ones who show it but just need that push. that was what i always thought of this show. i am a 9 year dancer an hope to be on this show and now i fear that i dont have what it takes to make it. but still they are an amzing show and i love the coreographers and the show still though the old meaning has been lost. i believe thumbs if u think soo please..

  • @Foedokeococo1 Good luck. I'm sure you'll be a great dancer

  • This is amazing, they both move so perfect together, love love love :) <3

  • i could feel hate and sadness and absolute vulnerability when i watch this dance... they get so into it, it makes me cry and believe even for a second that what's happening is real and that's what dance is about... to make your audience believe

  • One word: CHILLS.

  • why does youtube even have a dislike button?

  • This makes me cry, being an addict myself and also a dancer. Those two things are so incredibly powerful for me in such different ways: my passion, dancing, and my downfall, addiction. I pray that my passion for dance will be strong enough to overcome my addiction to drugs and alcohol. And I also pray for the addicts and alcoholics out there who still suffer. Thank you Mia Michaels, this piece is truly incredible.

  • I get shivers up my spine everytime I watch it. I always feel so bad for Kupono because his friend died from drugs or something. POOR KUPONO!!

  • gives me shivers

  • 7 people are addicted to being stupid

  • @CMart0cci0 ur comment made me laugh for 10 straight min.

  • Mia Michels is a major force......Love her better as a choreographer than a judge.

  • goosebumps!

  • second only to the backstabbing piece with kent and neil that travis choreographed.

  • @L8Rdudesanddudettes Lord, Travis Wall can tear you apart with his choreography, can't he? This Mia piece always leaves me in tears as well...

  • @ImMoonlily Mia and Travis are by far the best choreographers on this show. They fill their dances with such pure raw emotion its just unbelievable.

  • @L8Rdudesanddudettes What always blows me away in their choreography is how they can draw the viewer not just into the dance, but the emotion as well. There is no 'bystander' to the work, you become part of it...

  • @ImMoonlily I know, its absolutly stunning.

  • @L8Rdudesanddudettes So true. Their choreography is always just...stunning.

  • ok... i really want this video on my mp3 player along with a few others! but idk how to go about getting them on there! can anyone help me out?

  • This is so powerful and so sadly true. No matter how strong a person, addiction will relentlessly tear them down, hold them back and won't let go without a huge fight.

  • wow..

  • brilliant choreo brilliant music brilliant kayla brilliant brilliant kupono

    tears ..no air ...

  • i think they danced it better than the first time. ^^d

  • Mia Micheals is the most amazing person in the entire world... she inspires me to keep dancing everyday

  • This was such a powerful peice. Mia is absolutely brillant! I cried when i first saw this. Perfect routine, perfect song. just perfect! I will never forget it

  • this performace is so good it makes me pass gas :)

  • I have always loved Mia's choreography, and I haven't been following SYTYCD as much as i used to. However, this piece is so powerful and at 2:30 ish, I had tears in my eyes! Well done Mia! and Well done Kayla and Kupono!

  • @atomiclittlewing me too!

  • When the best Choreographer meets with the best music! I love you ♥Mia Michaels♥.

  • but this is such a moving dance <3

  • Marry if you dont HUSH that annoying voice I will... be hapyy (:

  • i really identify with this video. its so real, heartbreaking and beautiful

  • i love this show so much....everytime i see this piece I cry, truly moving....

  • wow...this was definitely a masterful...wow im in awe right now

  • If a dance can make you cry. It's a masterpiece.

  • @buicossey09 yes and this dance made me cry

  • Love this!! I get goose bumps every time at 2.23. This was an excellent peice of choreography and danced flawlessly.

  • the way he looks..gives me chills..it was beautiful, i almost cried. her pain...beautiful

  • i love this show!

  • This is by far one of the most beautiful and emotion packed dances I have ever seen in my life.................

  • absolutely brilliant is right :D

  • Only in dancing is it ok to "choke" a woman in public, and it be considered " great dancing" lol.. Otherwise very emotional and really well done :)

  • oh Kayla. all emotional from your unjust fourth place finish and have to perform a highly emotional piece. how you aren't bawling at the end is beyond me.

  • if only i could remember the name of the song, this dance makes my heart beat faster and faster until coming to a complete halt at the end. simply amazing

  • I seriously love SYTYCD and it's because of routines like this. One of my favorites of all time. Both Kayla and Kupono are so convincing in this piece, they are 110% into telling the story and making you believe it. So amazing.

  • i love season 5.

  • Adam shankman at the end just made my night

  • this is extremly beautiful

  • Something about this version that I felt a better connection with Kayla. She and Kupono's Chemistry was soo much better!

  • @jazzymcjazzster it was cause right, i watched the original dance scene when they first showed this routine and when you watch this you can visibly see that they are more confident in themselves with the dance and each other...beautiful connection and movements this dance

  • This dance is the BEST dance that i have ever watched! I saw this when it was televised and ever since then i have been addicted to this dance, (didnt mean to use addicted because its called addiction... sorry) but i have. It is breathtaking and idk i just love it!

  • Absolutly. Amazing.

  • I still get chills everytime I see, it is simply beautiful

  • Emmy Nomination 2011

    Adechike and Comfort "Fallin"

    Robert and Allison "Fix You"

Neil and Kent "How It Ends"

    Twitch and Alex "Outta Mind"

Lauren and Robert "That Home/ Pillow Dance"

Top 7 "Every Little Thing She Call Is Magic"

  • @afwNJafw is this accurate, or just your opinion?

  • @NickJonas990 opinion

  • i love how they both move as if in slow motion at times... brilliant!

  • I get chills every single time I watch this routine. It's so powerful.

  • this is seriously brilliant choreographing.

  • kayla is stunning in this performance.

  • Lindsay Lohan needs to watch this again and again until she gets it. Addiction is a powerful thing but it can be beaten, it can be beaten..........

  • 2:00 ... one of my favorite parts.

you can see he has control over her body, her "voice", where she "stands", and just her in general.

then you see her reach out as if asking for help.. she knows its not right buh cant find her way out. its so sad... :( this stuff actually happens to girls. and even guys. <|3

  • I get goosebumps everytime I watch this. Truelly moving.

  • IM STILL IN LOVE WITH THIS ONE.......seen it like thousand times pfffffffffiew soooo CATCHY

  • HER VOICE IS SO ANNOYING!!!!! UGH I WISH SHE COULD GET OFF THE SHOW!!!!

  • 1:15 is where the dance starts btw. I adore this routine. It's just amazing.
