DCWASA Public Affairs Guy: Congrats for minimizing costs by only replacing a small part of the sign. Except its still a waste of money, because there is no need to have anyone's name on it. How much did you pay the sign shop?Could that money have been used for something more useful to your customers? I can't help but notice you also need to raise rates today! Why are we paying for this, and how much!? What possible justification is there for changing the signs. A waste!
This is still a waste of money. Fire the head of DC water, and Gray should be ashamed. He needs to get out of his Navigator and start recognizing the fiscal crisis the city is in. The homeless must starve so Gray can have his name on a sign for 4 years!
This is a horrible waste of money. Fire the head of DC water, and Gray should be ashamed. He needs to get out of his Navigator and start recognizing the fiscal crisis the city is in. The homeless must starve so Gray can have his name on a sign for 4 years!
I sure hope that DC WASA doesn't plan on passing the cost of hiring a private contractor to do political advertising for Mayor Gray into its rate base. My water tastes just the same as it did last week when Fenty was mayor.
Appreciate the sentiment, stinsonit, but DC Water's operations are primarily funded by those who pay our rates. We're not a traditional agency of the District Government.
When we put up the sign in front of our headquarters building, we specifically designed it so only a small panel would have to be replaced in the event of a leadership change.

What a waste of money. That sign does not need to list anyone at all.

Also, we hired a sign shop to do the work.
