  • this is truly a good example of the harp sung ,

  • I grew up in Texas, and the overwhelming majority of people that participated in Sacred Harp singings were Primitive Baptists or other fundamental Baptists. Primitive Baptists don't allow any instrument in their worship service and their hymnal, called "The Good Old Songs" contains many of these sacred harp tunes.

  • it is the Spirit

  • If faith can move mountains...this is what it sounds like!

  • Nothing like those 18th century minor chords passed down for hundreds of years and honed by experience.

  • There's room for all voices when the message is the same. There are places where people gather to hear and speak in that voice. Not your voice? Wrong pew, that's all. For me, it adds a whole new and fascinating dimension of praise through song. QTK52

  • i only heard about this type of music today, and im hooked, absolutely brilliant, sends tingles up and down my spine :)

  • I went to my first singing this past weekend. What an experience! What a wonderful and timely antidote to the canned music that is fed to us by a dollar-driven music industry and that often (tragically) passes for worship.

  • I just heard about it right now, and I'm intrigued too! It's almost like a protestant equivalent to Taizé!

  • I don't know. It sounds different to me. There is no doubt that the roots are different. Many of the people I have met that would be a part of Sacred Harp singing do not consider themselves Protestant. But that's another discussion!
