Thanks Carolena, I'm sorry it's takin me so long to respond, I've been pretty sick. I finally got the motion of the windmill but I've been struggling getting my hands very close to each other to make it tighter lookings. I'm sure it just takes practice...thanks for this video! It has really helped me grasp the concept <3
I'm think I'm kind of getting it. When my right arm is behind me and I go to bring it back down in front of my body my right arm and hand placement feel awkward. I'm just not sure if I'm doing it correctly and its supposed to feel weird.
@pixxyhaze It is a little weird because you've changed which side of your hand is doing the driving. If you drove it up and behind with the pinky leading, then you must drive it up and down in front with the index finger leading. This is switching the power from one part of the hand to the other (while it's behind you, which is even weirder). I'm not sure if this makes sense. I would just do it again and again, very slow, pausing in front and back, and pretty soon it will start to feel natural.
@Caroleeena My biggest issue with this was the hand placement and figuring out where my hands were supposed to be and how to turn them (wrists out? wrists in? when do you switch?). This comment in response to pixxyhaze realllllly helped straighten it out for me with the pinky/index finger leading tip. Thank you!!!
I'm getting it but for some reason when I go to bring my right arm down back in front of me my hand and arm feel awkward. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right.
YAY! Thank you so much for this! I've always thought this looked so pretty but I could never quite understand what people were doing since it happens so fast. Your break down was SUPER helpful, I got it right away!
oh my GOOOOSH!! Thank you so much for making this wonderful tutorial Caroleeena! I just started spinning mini hoops a couple days ago, I transitioned from poi to mini hoops, and I'm really glad that the two arts have similarities... =) Much love headed your way! My hooping adventure is going to be splended!
Hey Caroleeena I reaaaally LOVE your tutorials, so helpful. Do you think perchance you could do a weave tutorial for those of us who have no idea how to do a twin weave? I think that'd be super helpful as kind of a glimpse into getting these weaving motions down?
@dogensays0 I tend to hoop counter-clockwise so in this tutorial I led with my Right hand and let my Left hand be the one that chases. You can do this in either direction though. Just let the one that does NOT cross the body when you first start be the leader.
@evilynntan1 The hoops are not rotating ... but they probably could. Intriguing. That would be challenging. But, no, usually they are in a grip. The only rotation occurs when you break the wrist to let the hoop fall behind you but even then the hoop does not rotate around the hand. It's more like the wrist rotating around the elbow in a figure 8 (infinity) shape where it falls behind you, then in front of you, then behind you, then in front of you...
This is the most beautiful off the body move and you are fantastic at it! You make it look so easy and fluid. What a arm workout too...yikes! I'm with Bobeena still at the "mayhem" stage and working getting a rhythm and flow going. I love the music and I would like to know what it is please. In the middle of the tutorial the music seemed to get a little louder and i had to strain to catch what you were saying. Hoop Hugs, C
@luvtospin It did get louder in the middle. I didn't realize that when I started. I'll try to figure out the song. It's on my mp3 player and I'm having to search for it. Wish me luck!
i dont get it! you make it look so simple... but im doing something wrong with my wrists i think... i cant quite tell how to "drop" it behind me without it swiveling to the side or something... hmmm
@topilhpyesdnil Try starting with the hoops hanging behind your back with your arms extended above your head. First pull the hoops (pinky lead, then index lead into a chop toward the side) to the right and then practice the same thing to the left. Starting at the top instead of the bottom will help you figure out the wrist break. If it's swiveling, that means you are breaking your plane on the way up. The hoop should stay vertical, not get horizontal.
Thank youuu ! It's just the move i try to learn these days ! <3 I find it hard with mini hoops cause it's not weighted as big hoop. I'll try with big hoop !..
Far Out! I've been soooooo close, but keeping my wrists WAY too stiff to get it smooth. I also was crossing a bit (switching which one was in front, which sometimes worked but mostly made for foolishness & mayhem) Thanks for your fab tutorial.
Oh, for my wrist to get really well so I can try this!!! Of course it won't be as easy as it looks, at least at first - but how can such clear instructions lead me wrong?! Thank you -

@dogensays0 I do have a three-beat weave tutorial. It won't let me post a link to it but if you go to my page, it's there! Good luck!

When you say this one at about :35, which hand do you mean? I suppose I'm confused about the hands and rotation movement. :\
