The American arrogance and ignorance is famose . If a horse wins in USA, without ever leaving his country, it automatically becomes the best in history. Out of your Truman Show , out the Hollywood movies , in the real world, everyone knows ..the best horse ever (gallop) is the Italian " RIBOT ", the best trotter ever is Italian " VARENNE " the best jockey ever is the Italian " FRANKIE DETTORI." All people can check these names on internet and make an assessment of the results.
The skewbald stb line we breed from originated in New Zealand with a mare called Mapou, before that I really dont know. Stb's have a myriad of colours, black, grey, roan, bay, buckskin, palamino ect and a selection of the "with white colours" such as tobiano, splashed white and sabino. Chestnuts with extensive white are fairly common, the best known here in Australia would be Paleface Adios. I looked up the horse you mentioned, but he is not registered in Australia, so I cant comment on him.
Where did these skewbalds come from? Standardbreds are pretty much solid bays, with very little white, all the way back, though I have heard of one called, 'I'm a Standardbred' (registered name) that was chestnut, with blaze and four stockings...and I wonder where HE came from.
