Once it's in steam-phase, it stays that way for quite a while. Tha actual eruption jets water from about 5 vents, one of them up to 200 ft outward at an angle!!
the roaring means there's over 60 gallons of steam being discharged per second-which means norris has just had another 'heat fluctuation' which is normal activity for the area.
Yes it is probably "normal", but rare. If you go to Norris Geyser Basin, chances are you will not see this steam erupting like this, it almost made your ears ring it was so loud.
