Wasn't this the baby hippo that was orphaned by the Indonesian tsunami? And the only thing it could find to bond with was the tortoise? When you're a baby and you're lonely, even an old tortoise can be a "mom."

@Fromplefeet you're tremendously oversimplifying it. what matters most is who gets to decide what economic policy is wise vs unwise-- who ultimately gets to decide the way the world's economy operates. also, there's people who run area-51 who are satan worshippers. are we supposed to respect them for wanting to take over the world and steer it into its doom? who gets to make the determination that someone is being "disrespectful"? that's another issue.

@digimaniacrikendo I worked as a volunteer at a shelter. Twelve years long. I saw animals die of misery. Cry for their owners. I always wised the people who had brought their animals would have seen them after they'd left. Dogs can't cry? Oh yes they can.
