There is a great bar right on the beach called Sunset Bar and Grille where you can drink, eat and watch the planes all day! They even have a schedule of planes arriving and departing. I went in January and it was quite literally a blast!

that is how planes always come in to land at ST Maarten. The runway isnt very large so they need to get down early as possible.

The KLM jumbos are not coming everyday, I guess 3 times a week but I'm not sure.But the Air France sends an A340 everyday, and lots of American jets are coming,mainly B757,sometimes Airbuses.

@Patriccio72 St. martin is just barely big enough for an airport that can accommodate commercial airlines. they didn't have many choices of where to put the airport. everything is so cramped there. other than beaches, there's practically nothing to do there

Landing is one thing. Taking off they have to go to another island with longer runway becuase they cannot fuel the 747 to make it back to Europe.
