A new favorite post! What soul on this version. Of course, the studio version is ridiculously great with the female background singers - not something you hear on too many of his tracks. Love it.
This is one of THE most haunting songs Neil has ever written, the studio version on his 1st album is my favorite track on that album. So underated! Thank you for posting this and to answer your question about the harmonies, I would be almost willing to bet that it sounds like the late, great Danny Whitten, the original rythm guitarist with Crazy Horse whose harmonies with Neil were just as good as if not better than anything he sang with Mr's Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
yes it's a nice version, I discovered I had that and thought i'd share it. don't know why it did not make it to the archives... anyone one know who is the guy doing the harmonies? Nash??

This was performed at The Los Angeles Greek Theatre. Graham Nash is performing the harmony. Performed during the 69-70 tour

It's Nash. Big Sur '69 the source? Better than "Archives" version in performance and sound quality for sure.

What an absolute gem! Love this song and I haven't played it in years. This almost sounds like an in studio demo. Great post!!

@AlonsoDeAlbuquerque
I'm gonna vote that Danny Whitten is providing the harmonies.

hey rick, unfortunately I'm slowing down a lot guitar playing because of what appears to be a tendonitis on both arms...
AlonsoDeAlbuquerque 2 years ago
Oh, that's horrible! Get to a doctor and get some physical therapy. What a waste if you can't play!
Best wishes...
