i'm 19 and trying to get loop right...started in the basics course when I was 17 and passed my first national test in January. I only get to skate during school/college hols coz the rink closed.
I think on the loop when you land and feel out of control, your left hip is dropped and opened up too much. Try "checking" more by keeping the hip closed and tightly lifted when you land, but the leg will be pushed back. Hips square, but leg extended out. I'm trying to improve my coaching, so please tell me if this works! (I am a coach/skater and am trying to be able to coach the single jumps well! Actually- I am planning on doing an apprenticeship/mentoring program soon to improve!)
your jumps seem good i just think you need a little more confidence on them! the landings need a little more finish too try doing landings with your arms in different positions eg crossed just as a exersize to help stop your shoulders from dropping. keep up the good work!!
i think ive seen you skate before! ive just returned from skating after four years, can hardly do anything...when is this? the rink is empty and looks nice to skate in.
@hellodano Hi! I think i just started fooling around on the ice four years ago. This is from 2 months ago, i think, at KIW. The ice wasn't great for sure! are you having regular lessons now?
@ChristinaeL nope, just skating around doing freestyle 4 stuff and trying axels when i feel adventurous! (can't land them though haha) how old are you? i'm 20 and very stiff already.
I wish I had some advice on landings. But I have problems with mine, too. I don't check my shoulders hard enough and tend to end up on a deep edge. Maybe you're having problems checking, too?
what usually helps me with the flutz thing is giving myself time and instead of trying to dig your toe in the ice just keep a steady upper body and bend your knee more for the take off. also try to check your arms. have your left in front of you and your right almost straight back.
nice loops!!maybe ur blades are a bit dull and that's maybe the reason ur landings arent so stabil...nice video, btw i used the same song without knowing,i only see ur video now:) sorry! xxx
you are falling on ur edges because you will flying off your jumps in mid-air..and you just have to work on the landing position off ice like what booksandblades said(:
I think it just has a lot to do with confidence. HIT the jump, then just pull out. My off ice class does a lot of landing positions just to practice ^_^
