I think Sai is the key to resolve some things and future posible troubles to konoha...specially to make new generation know what is going on and what happened with Roots activities and the "evil side" of konoha...Sai probably know more than is expected...remember that he was ordered to kill sasuke...his boss probably expected sasuke to attack konoha soon or later after truth revealed to him.
