He has such phenomenal control he censors his own cuss words, just ridiculous. Anyone who likes this has to check out "Black Though the Proffessional"
@BigMeeks512 Normally I'm angry of people using the word "rock" in the context of HipHop cos in most cases the so called "artist" have no idea of music in generel or espescially of rock. But this time I'm not. Cos The Roots are not a cheap wannabe-gangster-crew, they are genious!!!! Roots ftw!
@nicowontkillyou What do you mean?? im saying Black Thought knows how to ''ROC'' the Mic as in Controlling or Wearing an object in a Good form this has nothing to do with Rock Music.
roc is a slang word like example ''mann he rocs them shoes good''
Love these Guys. The new lp is fantastic. Does anyone else recognize this riff on the live version is 'hey bulldog' by The Beatles? That's pretty cool if they did that purposely : )
@decave ... That's so poetic and simply true. Especially with all this other stuff that is passed off as Hip- Hop. They do keep you sane. Well done from Fishnet9002

thought is awesome technically and is one of the best sounding mcs live. but he ooesnt have much of a personality, and isnt particularly original. im sure even his biggest fan would admit that
true, but i'd rather he stay this way. he's a hell of a lot more authentic than most mc's and is a treasure in hip hop today - no doubt. gotta give respect to his differences to other mc's. he may not be in your face with his ego but his musicianship and flow is to be reckoned with. that's my two cents, thanks guys.
"he may not be in your face with his ego but his musicianship and flow is to be reckoned with. "
Word by word, this is all true. Which doesn't mean he can't put any out there gangsta with what one reviewer described as "Big-Daddy-Kane-proclamations" in the minimal menagery of baddassery awesomeness that is "75 Bars."
Black Thought might be the most underrated MC of all time. Lil Wayne and even Jay Z dont compare and yet both are much more heavily acclaimed. People forgot where Hip hop came from and what makes an MC. Respect to the Legendary Roots Crew!!
the actual version of this song does have a chorus tho... but i agree... i dont think they let Thought lose it on track like he did on this one... but 75 Bars tops his lyrics n flow on this i think... both r freakin amazing tho... big up to the roots... cant wait till October to see them
i love these solo pieces too. i read where ?uest stated that their homages to the old school and it actually started with Table of Contents on the TFA.
i got all these guys albums, their newest is pretty sick but it aint better than the first becuase they dont let black thought have hsi own solo pieces theres just too many guest appearances!
Well, the album version of this song seems to sample the song Apache(jump on it!) by Sugarhill Gang. This jam seems to be loosely based on the conga part
They shoud do an album just Quest and Thought just mad raw shit kinda in the same way that the White Stripes do there thing and it aound like a big band but there are only two cats on the stage you would still have the drum break for Though to rap too but you would'nt have the reat of the band that way I feel thought would get more respect as it would force you to listen to the lyrics and you coud really see just how incredible dope Quest really is.

They've quoted Hey Bulldog by the Beatles through most of it! And also quoted The Shadows, that's so cool.
