Grunge is not a flannel shirt and martens, the "Singles" movie, Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains; it's Sub Pop, Seattle, cloudy weather everyday, and a vision of spontaneous true music; Seaweed, Green River, Tad, Love Battery, L7, 7 Year Bitch, Babes In Toyland and other stuff;
but as we talk about punk then you're correct, punk has a big influence from fashion. Not only as anti-political way and music, fashion too.

I use to wear Dr. Martens Airwair 8 eye boots. The vintage kind. Yellow threading and a tag on the back. But the treads wore out fast and don't do well in winter. Plus Dr. Martens are made for people with wide feet. I don't have wide feet.
I remember the 90's =P Think of 90's Alanis Morissette that was greasy.
