Very impressed with Evan Lysacek's short and long programs. They were smartly constructed and beautifully delivered -- that blend of artistry with athleticism, as they say. In the end, Evan didn't even need to do one quad! Plushenko, on the other hand, needed two quads just to finish close to Evan's point total. Wow!

Evan's performance was practically flawless at the Olympics. Plushenko's was sloppy. Yes, he did a quad but it's not all about the jumps. It's the spins, the transitions, the artistry - Evan's program had it all. Plushenko's was lacking. He needs to get over it.

Plushenko put lysacek in his small pocket with his SP AND LP. You can't even compare them. It's like comparing Mozart to Salieri. Only to Americans(who didn't watch the competition at all), Lysacek is the winner. Everywhere else Plushenko is GOD.

Evan is an extraordinary human being. So determined, so talented, so artistic, so able to jump a quad....so HAS jumped a quad. Know your facts, Youtubers. Evan and Evgeni had the SAME technical score, so Evgeni's quad meant very little. Americans should watch Evan's routine again as the NBC commentators mention the extremely small difference in point value between one of his jumps and a quad. Never have I seen a person with less grace and humility than Plushenko-a flat out SORE loser.
Evan's performance was routine and boring. Evgeny's technical elements are unique and extremely diffucult. I repeat, Plushenko is extraordinary, Evan's performance wasn't gold at all, it was just average. Gold winners are expected to do something above all the rest.

I'm not a big skater fan or anything but Evan skated very well and landed many triples and combos very cleanly, in my opinion.
Apparently the Russian had a mistake that judges deemed not as good as Evan.
Its not like you can just hit one quad and say I skated better, there are many more elements of their program Judges are looking at, not just one jump move.
That being said both men skated brillantly, obviously Gold & Silver.
I completely agree. I just wish Plushenko would realize that silver after a 3 year absence is amazing. That being said he really should have been a better sport about it. It wasn't very sportsmanlike of him to make those comments and degrade evan's performance. They are both great skater's. He should just enjoy another honor to his great career.

It's my opinion that both Evgeni and Lysacek are great skaters and very handsome;each with a different style .Doing a quad is great and making elegant+flowing moves like Evan is great as well .There is not such a big difference between gold or silver medals I myself wear silver it 's the jewelry I like.

I'm so happy for Evan!!!! Plushenko can do the quad, but he can't do a normal steps sequence. His so-called "step sequences" were full of kisses to the audiance, and moving his ass. That's not figure skating. Maybe this way of skating was enough to win in the last scoring system. When Olympic Games pass in the USA or Canada judges always judge in favour of these countries. Here and this time the American who is not able to do jumps in 4 turns has won. What sense to go to America if will act unfairly. And it should be a shame to the American with such gold.

I think part of Plushenko's problem is he came into Vancouver thinking he would be coronated if he just landed his quad, it kind of reminded me of Michelle Kwan in Nagano. Same result b/c you cant just call in the perfomance.
Noone could match his arsenal. I think the only change is how a quad jump is judged if its failed. However, that is a moot point b/c Evan didnt attempt one and still had better quality elements than Plushy. Plushenko even recieved +GOE one of his two jumps that were titled in the air (his first 3A received -.36 but his 3Lz received +.6). Simply, Plushenko was beaten on the mark he used to own.

Plushenko has never been a polished skater and most of his wins can be attributed to his technical superiority. It's funny he mentioned the current scoring system is new because it's been in place since 2003-2004 season and he even lose under it (too many jump combinations) at the 03-04 GPF to Emanuel Sandhu. Other than that, he owned the element score under the old system.
Lysacek's performance was far better than Plushenko's! He was graceful, passionate, and (most important of all) flawless. Plushenko was wobbly, strained, and emotionless. A lot of the men didn't do quad jumps, and the ones who did either fell or barely held on, marring the performance. The score is based on the entire presentation, not just one jump in the technical section.

Evan works hard, and his skating shows it. Not only were his jumps better than Plushenko's at the olympics, but his footwork was harder, his spins were better, and his overall skating was much more graceful.

Plushenko put lysacek in his small pocket with his SP AND LP. You can't even compare them. It's like comparing Mozart to Salieri. Only to Americans(who didn't watch the competition at all), Lysacek is the winner. Everywhere else Plushenko is GOD.

Evan is an extraordinary human being. So determined, so talented, so artistic, so able to jump a quad....so HAS jumped a quad. Know your facts, Youtubers. Evan and Evgeni had the SAME technical score, so Evgeni's quad meant very little. Americans should watch Evan's routine again as the NBC commentators mention the extremely small difference in point value between one of his jumps and a quad. Never have I seen a person with less grace and humility than Plushenko-a flat out SORE loser.

Evan's performance was routine and boring. Evgeny's technical elements are unique and extremely diffucult. I repeat, Plushenko is extraordinary, Evan's performance wasn't gold at all, it was just average. Gold winners are expected to do something above all the rest.

I'm not a big skater fan or anything but Evan skated very well and landed many triples and combos very cleanly, in my opinion.
Apparently the Russian had a mistake that judges deemed not as good as Evan.
Its not like you can just hit one quad and say I skated better, there are many more elements of their program Judges are looking at, not just one jump move.
That being said both men skated brillantly, obviously Gold & Silver.

I completely agree. I just wish Plushenko would realize that silver after a 3 year absence is amazing. That being said he really should have been a better sport about it. It wasn't very sportsmanlike of him to make those comments and degrade evan's performance. They are both great skater's. He should just enjoy another honor to his great career.

It's my opinion that both Evgeni and Lysacek are great skaters and very handsome;each with a different style .Doing a quad is great and making elegant+flowing moves like Evan is great as well .There is not such a big difference between gold or silver medals I myself wear silver it 's the jewelry I like.

Plushenko is a genius and Lysacek is a mediocrity that can barely follow Plushenko's style, and has neither talent nor training to even repeat Plushenko's elements. No skating, no dancing, no challenging jumps. Lysacek is a reincarnation of Mediocrity.

i don't want to judge skaters biased on appearances, sexual orientation, ethnicity or country they are from. They are all great in what they are doing.
Plushenko's performance was a bit shaky and uneven. it's a fact. BUT Laysachek doesn't deserve gold either!!!
just because he skated flawlessly a program for juniors, it doesn't mean he's superior. How is this sport supposed to evolve, if the new system doesn't count the athletic attempts! it's not a sport anymore, it's amateur competition.

Evan Lysacek is so handsome... I'm glad he won the gold. Not only because of his skill, bt because it would be horrible to have to see Plushenko's ugly face up on the podium. I used to think Plushenko was a good skater, but now I have seen that he is a nobody with no class... I'm happy he (and his fellow countrymen) has shown his true colors in his disrespectful comments. I'm so happy for Evan!!!! Plushenko can do the quad, but he can't do a normal steps sequence. His so-called "step sequences" were full of kisses to the audiance, and moving his ass. That's not figure skating. Maybe this way of skating was enough to win in the last scoring system. Now a quad is just a small part of a program, and there are so many other things to do well, which Plushy can't do. Congrats to Evan and Dai!

I think part of Plushenko's problem is he came into Vancouver thinking he would be coronated if he just landed his quad, it kind of reminded me of Michelle Kwan in Nagano. Same result b/c you cant just call in the perfomance.

Noone could match his arsenal. I think the only change is how a quad jump is judged if its failed. However, that is a moot point b/c Evan didnt attempt one and still had better quality elements than Plushy. Plushenko even recieved +GOE one of his two jumps that were titled in the air (his first 3A received -.36 but his 3Lz received +.6). Simply, Plushenko was beaten on the mark he used to own.

Plushenko has never been a polished skater and most of his wins can be attributed to his technical superiority. It's funny he mentioned the current scoring system is new because it's been in place since 2003-2004 season and he even lose under it (too many jump combinations) at the 03-04 GPF to Emanuel Sandhu. Other than that, he owned the element score under the old system.

Lysacek's performance was far better than Plushenko's! He was graceful, passionate, and (most important of all) flawless. Plushenko was wobbly, strained, and emotionless. A lot of the men didn't do quad jumps, and the ones who did either fell or barely held on, marring the performance. The score is based on the entire presentation, not just one jump in the technical section.

No it wasn't. Plushenko thought he could come back after 3 years and suddenly win the olympics? That's a joke. He disregarded the fact that everyone has to work hard, no matter how good they are. Evan works hard, and his skating shows it. Not only were his jumps better than Plushenko's at the olympics, but his footwork was harder, his spins were better, and his overall skating was much more graceful.
