  • I have 2 Behringer B215D looking to get a Sub.Any suggestions.Usually 100 people less parties.will just one sub be fine?

  • @drummbum You ensure you have the interface selected as the output device?

  • I CAN hear my self singing into my nt2a through my TC twin impact into logic with my headphones on but when i record into logic and play the track back i get no sound. anyone know where exatcly i go to fix this?

  • @62ssab the best way to do this is to simply place a mic in front of the amp, i recommend a Shure SM57 (unidirectional). however if you must go the DI route, you will need a preamp (preamplifier), and to get the effects loop into the mix simply place the DI box after the pedal board.. and incase i have mis-understood and its an acoustic guitar just put the DI box after the pedal board (effects loop) and scratch the preamp (unless you want a really high-fidelity sound) and it should sound great!

  • I do a lot of pro audio work for live bands ranging from the acoustic guys at the local coffee shop to some bigger venues in Nashville, TN.. and recently I have found myself working with some "less-than cooperative" DJ's.. So I'll start with a basic layout.. i run the DJ's mixer down the snake with everything else thats on stage and mix it down and get it sounding good at a higher-than normal volume to attempt to satisfy this type of crowd. My problem is that after soundcheck and getting (cont.)

  • @EpicFailureintheboro the levels set, the DJ decides that its not loud enough (mind that i have almost ZERO headroom left, on a pair of yorkville TX8's and a pair of TX9B's ) ..so the DJ cranks the masters up on his mixer and everything distorts to the point that you cant make anything out.. my question here being what is the best way to deal with un-cooperative DJ's such as this, is there any way with a piece of equipment to get around this? being that i cant really walk onstage during a show

  • @EpicFailureintheboro the only thing i haven't tried is compressing the signal, but i would think that it would drive so far into compression that it would have negative effects in that sense.

  • hey brain, i'm 10. i'm a beginner DJ (bedroom DJ) i'm investing in a good sounding powerfull amp to drive big 180 peek tower speakers running at 8 Ohms is it a good match?

    Power Amp: Behringer ep2000

    400WATT at 8 ohm

    P.S.

it's sorta a high current wanter!

    1600WATT at 120v!

  • Hi everyone, I have a Sony 5.1 receiver that's 500w and I have been using it to pipe fiber optic audio in from my PC. I got rid of the old satellite speakers that came with it (blown) and replaced them with some large stereo speakers. But now, they have started to have audible cracking at around 2khz. The front left and right channel speakers are 6 inch with two 2 1/2 inch tweeters; these speakers are the culprits. Any suggestions for what I can do, or better speakers would be appreciated.

  • @garrettmcginnis1990 the best thing to do in my opinion when speakers start to blow is to just replace them, rather it be individually down to just replacing a tweeter, or the entire speaker cab... i would recommend a pair of speakers but i don't know enough about your amp/reciever from what you have here.. if you have a model# i'd be glad to help!

  • Hello,I have to replace my horn drivers on the Jbl JRX 112 and 115,the Selenium d210ti where recommended ,the bad news is there no longer available, what drivers are comparable to the Selenium...Thxs Glen

  • Hi! great video, thank you for posting it.

I have McBride ceiling speakers but there's no color chart on the transformer. colors are labelled with numbers.

I looked on the website, but found no info. perhaps you could help me?

on the first row, i got RED (2), BROWN(4), BLACK(C)

on the second row, i got GREEN(1/4), YELLOW (1/2), ORANGE (1)

Maybe you could help me figure out what wire is the 10W ?

    thanks everybody!

  • Hey guys, first I want to say thanks to Brian for EVERYTHING! I've learned a whole lot from your videos. I have a question some speakers I have, the Yamaha S115V 2-Way 15" Club Series V Speaker. I power them with a Peavey power mixer, but the amp in it is 450 watts @ 8 ohms stereo. the speakers are 500 watts @ 8 ohms.

after watching Brians amp & pa vid, I realized that it is over working the amp.

I have some amps in mind to buy, but was curious if there was a way to daisy chain them in bridge

  • @DJMurph27 if you are talking about linking the binding posts (outputs) of the amps to one another.. thats a bad idea.. and bad things will happen.. just go ahead and get yourself a single good powerful amp and a separate mixer! and remember that you will almost always get what you pay for!

  • Has anyone used the Gemini GSM3250 before? if so let me know what you think of them please!

  • Hey there.. I have a MAckie PPM 1012 that I am runnig 2 bass cabs and two top cabs running stereo l/r . I want to hook up a passive monitor for my singers to hear themselves. What is the best way I can do this w/o a sepperate amp.

  • what are some good powered speakers that could handle around 300 ppl.

  • What does everyone think about Powered Subs?

  • hi brian im a big fan i love your channel, im from mexico by the way and everything you say is very helpus for us. anyways , the question is i have a hercules rmx and i used to run the on non powered speakers via peavey amp, but i just recently upgraded by equipment to two mackie powered speakers and a sub , whats the best way to set it up? because i dont know if i should get a rca cable converter for a xlr or just use another mixer, what should i do? sorrry for my english

  • @vladiquiroz Get another mixer! you will thank yourself later because 99% of pro audio gear uses XLR-type connectors.. the RCA-XLR adapters will work (to somewhat of a degree) but its better just to have the right kind of gear to start with to maintain audio quality!

  • Okay, everytime I play my video game and something explodes, it sounds really bad, like loud paper, like if there was to much treble, but theres not!

  • OKay I have this urging question! I want to connect my auido source to the mixer. I have a Dennon X300 mixer and i want to connect them to my active resolv 40a monitors that are 50 watts so 25 wats per monitor for home use. Now the thing i dont know how to connect them. do i need to buy something extra like an amp or a interface? Aslo what cables do i need to buy?

  • HEY, BRIAN GOT A QUICK QUESTION. HOW DO I CONNECT A MIC PREAMP SUCH AS A " FOCUSTRITE OCTOPRE MK II" INTO MY CONTROL SURFACE "MACKIE UNIVERSAL PRO"? AND WILL THE PREAMPS ROUTE INTO THE CONTROL SURFACE AND LOGIC PRO 9 FOR SIMULTANEOUS MUTI-TRACK RECORDING? So I can record live vocals and instruments at one time, and have them recorded to their individual tracks in Logic 9.

  • What does everyone think of the new XLS series from Crown amp. Other than the fact that their 11 pounds does anyone know the quality of them?

  • @jdub1023

hey, jes actually i've handled quite a few at my new pro audio job lately,

i guess since it's crown that the quality should be OK however if you really want an amp for pro audio jobs (read: if the amp may ABSOLUTELY not break down in the middle of a night ) i have to advise you get the XTI-4000

since the XTI 4000 and 6000 are built in mexico and the new XLS comes or partly or in its entirety out of china.

nothing against china but their ''cheaper'' stuff also breaks down quicker

  • Looking into the wireless speaker setup i have 2 eon 15's , would using something like a cheap gemini single channel mic system sound good? I'm pretty sure it would work but wondering what the quality would be like? Thanks for any advise

  • MICING A PIANO. I have a client who would like me to Mic a grand piano. Does anyone have any experience with this? Specifically there is cocktail area right inside double doors which lead outside to an outdoor patio where a ceremony is taking place. I am only asked to mic the piano. I have a portable Fender PD 250 PA system which I use for micing ceremonies outdoors. I also have a condensor mic, though I dont know the brand off hand. I have used it in the past for micing Acoustic Guitars.

  • Comment removed

  • @boppydiamond Any information on Mic placement would be appreciated. Also EQing out the PD250 and if I should use (as I've read in some places) 2 mics placed over different areas of the strings. (ie one the low strings one the high) or if one instrument condensor mic will be fine for this setting.

    THANKS

  • @boppydiamond Hey guys, FYI Did my event this weekend. Mic'ed piano with one condensor mic hung over the middle of the strings about 2 ft above from a boom stand into my Fender pd 250. Ran 1 speaker out to the ceremony location from where the piano was. It worked fine!

  • I have a Crest CC-5500 with a 30A plug. I will be using this amp to power (2) B-52 LX-1515 V3. It is rated at 1800 watts at 4Ohm per side. How do I convert this 30A plug to make it compatible with small to medium venues with 15A or 20A outlets? Thanks.

  • Hey i use my Camcorder/Microphone and When I hear myself I sound VERY Different and the Audio is HD(for the camcorder), Is there a Problem with my voice, do i need to fix my voice? What Should i do?

  • One more question, How would you split your signal, For instance If i ran powered speakers and unpowered. Coming from my mixer if i use a y cable it reduces the signal input substantionally?? How would you split it?

    Question #2

If you run speakers parallel say from a bridge mono amp does one speaker take away from the other? One guy told me one speaker will get more power than the other is this true if so how would you correct this? Thanks

  • @BoogiemanUSA Question 2 I mean daisy chain..

  • Hey, is it better to use a dbx crossover or use the internal crossover in amps, most speakers have crossovers already, and now the newer amps do also. Thanks !!

  • Hey guys I am wanting to start running my amp in bridged mono. I need some clarification.. I have a crown xs900.

    4 ohm 900w

8 ohm 600w these are both per channel so if i plug another speaker into it it drops to 4 ohm correct

    4 ohm bridge is 2,500w

8 ohm bridge is 2,100w so if i plug one 8 ohm speaker it gets 2,100watts and if i add another speaker it goes to 4 ohm and 2500 watts divided by 2speakers so 1,250watts per speaker is this correct?

I want to push b52folded horn 1000 watts.

  • Comment removed

  • @BoogiemanUSA If you daisy chain your 8 ohm speakers together in bridge mono, yeah you got it! Trouble is, 250 watts isn't much top end for speakers asking for 1000 watts each. So, yes, you CAN do it, but be careful not to clip or overhead and watch out for distortion :)

  • @briansredd overHEAT rather. HA!

  • @BoogiemanUSA Personally, I'd be more comfortable running ONE of thoes subs bridge mono giving you 1100 watts top end. Should sound really nice that way.

  • @briansredd thanks for the reply, the amp is 2,500 amps bridged 4ohm mono, I just wanted to be correct if i push both speakers then that would be 1250 per channel.. thanks again boogieman

  • @briansredd thanks for replying the amp pushes 2500watts at a 4ohm load, just wanted to make sure that each speaker would be getting about 1250 watts. the b52 is rated at 1,000 watts but I beleive the manual says 800. thanks again,

  • If I am installing RCA outputs on my stock head unit in a 2004 silverado and there is no remote wire on the vehicle side, how can i take care of the remote wire?

  • I have a standard L/R channel receiver with two sets of speakers connected in parallel. The Bose Cube don't have enough bass output. Is there an inexpensive way to equalize those "treble" speakers to my larger full range speakers? THANKS!

  • RCF OR JBL for base speakers?

  • RCF OR JBL for base speakers?

  • which pro audio brand should i go for about live mixer?

  • I have a pair of Gemini RS415-1 Pro powered speakers. (Linear frequency response between 40Hz-18kHz, 1200watt each speaker, RMS 300W (245W + 55W). I want to add a powered sub, how high can I go in watts and ohm? I do not want to blowout a sub and or speakers?

  • Does anybody know how two of the Behringer EUROLIVE B208D Active PA Speakers would fill a gym with around 150-200 people? They're 200watts each powered speakers

  • EUROLIVE B212D it would be best

i have the EUROLIVE B212D and i dj filling a room with 300 people and i have them running at max !

  • I have 1000W yamaha speakers at 4 ohms, would a yamaha 950W/ch @ 4 ohms power amp will handle it fine?

  • Is it RMS or peak? RMS is max constant wattage, and peak is bursts off power. Try to buy the amp after the RMS(or a bot over). in my opinion, a 950w wattage amp is a bit to much. my guess is that the RMS on the speaker is 500. Buy a 500-600w amp.

  • @IReallyLikeMyNamexD its 1000watts RMS/Continuos power. Do i Need an amp more powerful than 950w?

  • I would have bought a 1200w amp.

Its not to much to blow it( if u are careful), and it packs a punch.

  • 950w per channel is going to be expencive... If you are going to have it in your home, the 1200w amp is more than enough. If you are going to use it for parties and DJ jobs, you should buy 1000W RMS/ch @4 ohm. I might be wrong about my calculations, but it works wonders to me:)

  • go with a 1400 power amp its better to run louder amp

i had a 700 watt pa speaker and i ran a 750 watt power amp and i blown the amp!

  • hey

in my highschool i do all the ceremony, dances, plays and ove course it has to be all mobile. i dont have a rack for all my crap because i leave some at my school and bring some home. now durring these ceremony's one of my principals asked my if i needed anything else for the choir and im looking at buying an external effects prossesor for mostly reverb. and sugestions?

  • Mike, can you suggest a good laptop for the $ that would be good for DeeJaying as far a s music and programs go? Thanks, Rampage

  • i know the DSP8024, now from experience the 8024 isnt great at EQing as it has cheap analogue to digital and digital to analogue converters. you are far better with a fully analogue EQ or a better digital one. if you are using a seperate EQ then you can simply plug in an RTA test mic into the Mic input of the 8024 and press rta on the front of the unit. your mic should be facing your speakers and in the center of them from about the middle of where your audience will be. for mics look at dbx

  • i am not familiar with the crossovers you have but i am confident that if done properly we could get the right result. what you need to do is go from your mixer into your first crossover (DOD835) split off the lows to your sub and then from the 2nd output of the DOD835 go into your Ashly and split that signal into high, high mid and low mid then out to your amplifiers. Hope this Helps

  • make sure that the source of your audio (amplifiers, mixer etc) are all on the same power circuit or outlet. Also if you are running your audio unbalanced (on phono cable or mono jack cable) you might want to consider balancing your audio. its easy to do, run your audio through something called a DI box and this will convert your jack connection into an XLR and you can disable the ground on the DI box. this is not just a cable converter, a simple jack to phono cable will not do the same thing.

  • What do you think about the Bose L1 Systems?

  • The problem is when I listen to some tracks through my speakers (iKey Audio M-808 and 10-S subwoofer), they sound much worse than they did at the club. It seems like the bass there echoed inside my heart, whereas at home it sounds quite flat.

At home, if I just try to pump up the bass a little, I can't listen to the vocals.

So, do you think this happens because the club simply has a much better/powerful sound system, or do you think Erick edits his tracks to give that effect?

  • It could be because a club is a much larger environment than a room. There is a lot more air to move so the bass is undoubtedly going to sound different. The bass should be softer in home.

  • Thats becuase your having a ground loop problem bro.

  • Hey guys. I have an xti 4000 amp setup and it works but its only giving sound out one channel(the high one) How do I separate the signal to highs and lows

  • do you have any equalizers? and amp dosent give you highs and lows it only gives you power to amplify the sound.

  • I have a crown amp. xti2000 475w.@8ohm in stereo how to i hook up the right way on the back of amp. my spkers are a pair of peaveys djs4 with 2 15inch wofers each ones inpedance 4 ohms thanks for your help..

  • I purchased an Oknyo HT RC180 . I also have a Bose Acoustimass 15 system. After hooking it up I get a light humming/feedback from my power base, however, only when the receiver is off. it goes away when I turn it on. I tried new cables, etc...nothing...However, when I hook it back up to my old Denon AV95, there is no feedback or humming when the receiver is turned off.

    HELP!!!!

  • Check to see if it has a button that should say something like ground lift maybe that will sold it.

  • Wich Power speakers are Better the JBL prx series or the QSC K series????? i want power speakers that are light like these not like the hd series Im going to buy a pair and dont know wich to get is either the K12 or the PRX 3way

  • I own the Pioneer MEP 7000 which works great as a stand alone player but I am having trouble finding DJ software that this player can control besides SSL3. I have tried numerous DJ software and I am unable to get the MEP 7000 working with them except for SSL3. So I guess my question is Does anyone out there have the MEP 7000 controlling software other than SSL3?

    Thanks. =)

  • The first threshold to the left should be at off, the release should be at fast the next threshold should be at -20 the ratio at 4.1 the attack at fast the next release at five lines from slow output gain at zero all press button should be out remeber this is looking at it from left to right. then do the same steps for the second channel if you want to get a little more sound to your speakers set the second threshold from the left to about -10

  • Hey brian can you tell me why my amp hits harder on one channel my crossover is set the same on bolth sides and my gate is set the same also but the lights go higher on one side on the amp

  • 1.have you switch the lines going to your amp, if then the ch. that was going louder is lower then you should check your cable might de broken, 2.your mixer outs could be done because of exesive pluging in and out on cheap mixers they go out quik,3. or first do the line levels on your mixer move or lite up evenly if not your problem could be you cd player or cable from your cd player to mixer...

  • daisy chain them

if u need help on how let me no

  • Hi, I would just like to ask if the CROWN XTI series is stable when running stereo 2ohms. Thanks. =)

  • Hey Brian, I am having a problem with getting a buzzing or hissing noise out of my speakers when no music is playing. Any solutions? I have a Behringer VMX1000 mixer and two behringer powered speakers.

  • try a ground loop isolator... If you are using a laptop, they are notorius for backfeeding into a system. Try groundlooping the laptop...

  • a DI box on your xlr cables can work to just hit the ground switch

  • get a compresser/limiter it will also help your sound sound more clean and tight...

  • i have two MTX Thunder Pro 2 speakers.

They run 200 watts rms/400 watts max at 4 ohms.

What amp should i buy to run these speakers?

  • i recommend 400w its better 2 over power the speaker then to under power it

  • Can anybody here tell me if PYLEPRO DJ amplifiers are ok? Any response will be very much appreciated. Thanks. =)

  • i dont recommend

but my fav cheep amp is by Behringer

iv had alot of Behringer amps i love them

  • if you can stretch to a Tapco amplifier you would benefit

  • Ok im learning all of this... im looking at the buying a system PMP3000 Behringer mixer 2 x eon 315 powered 300watts 2 x jrx112 as monitors running of the behringer daisy chained and a jrx118sp Powered sub My question is the Amp runs 8ohms @ 250 watts and 4 ohms at 450 watts the Jrx need 8 ohms 250-500 watts when i daisy chain them does it make it 4ohms? so then the amp would be fine running them at 4ohms 450 watts... Will this system be ok? how would i run the sub?
  • btw the amp runs Bridged mono 8ohms @ 900watts

    All those specs are RMS

  • Just a quick question, in the video you mentioned about running speaker cabs in parallel. How would you go about doing this? i cant find any videos on youtube explaining :(

  • you simply run out of your amplifier in to your first speaker then out of the Link Out on your first speaker in to the second speaker and the same on the other side

  • I want to process my drums live through my laptop software (use the software in place of rack effects). I know how to interface the bus with my laptop, but how can i send the processed signal back to the mix return? (I use a Mackie 24 8)

  • Hey Brian,

I have been watching your videos for some time and have found them great for learning about methods and gear. I have been very busy making new gig-rigs with new gear. I love American Audio's SDJ Lines. I bought the SDJ-1 with and paired it with my old American Audio Commander Mixer. I was thinking about buying another with the QSD Mixer for another rig. Do you think it is a better idea to buy the SDJ-2. Is this a better option? WIll you do a video on these options? Thanks

  • hey I have a problem with my mixer(its from the dj set, Numark DjInABox), the faders (Line and cross) just wont work for me. I am totally new with turntable scratchings, so i could really use some help,i just brought it so it is brand new. The turntables are working fine and the other things on the mixer is working fine also, just the faders that are fucked, or im wrong? I got both the turntables plugged in Phone as it should be, and the groundwire is also plugged in. could use some help:)

  • Brian I was thinking about adding a folded horn Sub to my show and i wanted to know what your thoughts on them were. Most of my events are in room spaces about the size of the one you were testing the lasers in. I play a few outdoor events alot of weddings, college parties and formals.

  • WHICH AMP DO I CHOOSE? What is the difference between rms and continuous

I just bought a pair of Peavey Sp-4G and the speakers are 600 watts rms 1,000 watts continuous, 2,400 max at 4 0hms. I have a choice of the Peavey 2700 which is 900 watts at 4 ohms or the Peavey 3800 which is 1300 watt at 4 ohms

thx in advance Practice and Enjoy

  • out of those 2 amps either would be fine!, RMS is route, mean squared this is how much power the speaker will take constantly with know distortion, continuous is the maximum amount the speaker will take constantly but you may get a little distortion at that level of wattage, always try and amp your speakers with 50% more power than the RMS of the speakers

  • I have 2 JBL SRX722s and 1 JBL SRX728. I am planning on using a Crown XTI 6000 for the 2 tops and a Crown XTI 4000 for the sub. Could you maybe put up a video or respond back with how to set up the amps in system architect with the JBL presets provided or maybe some custom settings?

  • brian has already posted a video on system architect do a search for crown xti on his channel you will come across a video called "Crown Xti amplifiers and system architect" all is explained there

  • Hey, I don't know if you use these brands of power amps but I want to know what is better for a EV Eliminator KW subwoofer. A QSC plx 3602 or a Crown XTI 4000. Both power amps pretty much give the same watt power a 4 ohms. Also which amp is longer lasting. If you are not informed or familiar with the types of brand maybe some other viewer might. Please feel free to comment.

  • its completly down to personal preference both are fantastic amplifiers and fantastic brands, each amp just has different options of what you can do, they xti's are lighter, digital and have built in crossovers, the QSC will way more and wont have built in crossovers but maty be consideribly cheaper, some people prefer QSC some prefer Crown you have to choose for your self

  • Hey Brian got a problem with my amplifier. I use the crown xti 1000 through two jbl 110 from a pioneer djm 700. The problem i have is that one side of the amp or the right dial cuts on and off so i only use one side so it completly limits my sound. I run it on bridge mono and tried it on stereo still the same thing happens, i hope i havent damaged anything pls someone tell me whats going on its been a ongoing thing now thx bri

  • I suggest and highly recommend contacting crown technical support and possibly getting that taken care of under warranty...

  • Brian can you suggest a good Dj mixer for me right now I have a gemini ro 1000 and i am not very happy with it. I am on a tight budget.any suggestions Thanks

  • hey wuz up guys, why the pitch on my serato keeps moving and on my turn table it says 7.0 and on serato keeps jumping on 6.9, 7.0 and 7.1 , i need help wit that, thank you guys.

  • I have a pair of Cerwin Vega 15" Home speakers (DX-9's) Rated at 400rms @4ohms each. I watched the vid on your Crown XTI amps and I was wondering if I could use The XTI 1000 in my home for to power my Vega's?

I am not a DJ but I pretend to be one in my house about every weekend. (house parties) I am looking for something I can power my speakers with, that can play all night and won't blow itself up or damage my speakers from amp distortion. So, I am thinking pro audio. Can you advise me? Thx

  • that's perfect.

your powering them 100 watts more power per channel. That means you will definately get the cleanest sound coming from the speakers. Be very careful not to abuse the speakers in which it will definately cause failure.

you can also bridge the amp to run it mono which will put out 1000 watts for both speakers when used in series

  • Hey Dog

That should work just fine for your house. You'll get 500 watts per channel stereo @ 4 ohms.

It's my experience that when it comes to subs, the more "Top End" (more power than you need Program or RMS), the better. Many Audio folks will tell you that 100% Top End is best.

So, with that in mind, for a little more, the XTi 2000 will give you 800 watts per side @ 4 ohms (100% top end) and ROCK your living room :)

  • thanks so much ! its like talking to a ledgend lol !!

  • Hey i am thinking of getting into djing and i have a smaller two channel mixer + tt's. The problem is how do i connect the mixer to my sony surround sound ? as im a bedroom dj i cant buy huge amps or seperate speakers unless i have to..

so can i attatch a PS121x mixer to a sony DAV-DZ260 surround sound system ? thanks in advance people.

  • Conventional music is 2 channel stereo so you won't get Surround Sound, per say. But yes, as long as you have an RCA AUX imput (anything but Phono) into your home stereo, you are all set.

Just REMEMBER the 0 DB RULE! What's that? I have videos on PFL out there so have a look :)

  • How do I set up my DBX 166XL for live sound/mobile dj use? This unit starts at the top of my rack, then into a BBE 2way/3way crossover and finally into 2 QSC RMX2450's. Any suggestions, websites or videos would be awesome. I'm sure this is a great piece of equipment if you know how to set one of these up. Thanks everyone, Tim.

  • I forgot to thank you for your assistance, thanks djmx3! I have since returned the setup as the mixer that came with had grounding problems. I will seriously consider upgrading to the 212a or 215a when i get my new system, are there any actives at present you could recommend? (knowing my current requirements)

  • i just posted a video on youtube but the audio sounds like a chipmunk is there a way i can fix this problem.

  • Comment removed

  • Correct me is I am wrong, Your speakers are 125Watt @ 8 Ohms at continues, it means 250Watt @ 4 Ohms and it matches your amplified mixer. I believe it can handle 200 guest in a indoor venue but not outdoor. You could add Active Cabinets (like B212A) for outdoor so you don't need to hav eadditional amplifier.

  • sorry, made i slight mistake.... it is actually a gear4music 250+250 @4ohms powered mixer. im wooried that it just doesnt hv the umph il need.

  • I have just purchased a gear4music 500w @8ohms and 2x 500w @8ohms behringer b212s. Do you think i will need another power amp or will this suffice. I generally work in venues packing 200 or more... advice please??

  • Question Topic : Track Management

Is it best to keep tracks in folders, or just loose on the PC/Drive?

Do you prefer to sort track folders by "Artist" or "Album name" (eg. Now 55)

  • In my case I keep my Album by Genre. House: -Album Y -Album X Hip-Hop -Album A -Album B From my Serato or Torq or MixMeister I have created playlist called "selections" and only select tracks that are commercials or Hits. -House -Track 1 -Track 2 -Hip-Hop -Track 1 -Track 2 My music library are always in tack and i always back to 2nd HDD including playlist.
  • Great

  • can anyone answer my question? Really want to know how to do this?

  • Can I hookup a HDTV to the following audio system? Ultralink digital processor, audio research stereo amplifier and a SA220 tube/mosfet power amplifer. Thank you so much!

  • Question in the subject of DJM-800 or other DJ mixer:

In my DJM-800's left channel on Master2 output (unbalanced, RCA) signal is lot quieter, than in right channel. Sound on this L ch. is muffled. Every other output (balanced XLR Master1, REC, Booth monitor) works normal. Balance dial is in the center.

Service guy told me, that I sould not plug mixer output directly to PC's line input, because this action can damage mixer output.

What do you think about it?

  • This is really strange, because I tested yesterday and mentioned L ch. signal on Master2 was REALLY a lot lower, than R ch. sig.

This was also visible on computer recording aplication when I pluged Master2 to PC's line-in and also it was heard when I pluged Master2 to PA & speakers.

    But guess what?

20 minutes ago I checked this again and... everything is normal now... I checked it good. Very strange...

I'm curious what it was and if it will repeat.

  • It might be the cable that you are using, in my case I am using RCA to XLR adaptor and connected to PC directly but works fine. Let us know if you find out what really happened.

  • hey, Im looking to buy two Speakers rated at 400w RMS 8ohms, i am planning to use it as a stereo system, but people are telling me i need a Big Amp. How many watts would my amp need to be to run it?

  • Yeah, that's going to take an amp that's over 1,000 watts @ 8 ohms JUST to run them without much top end at all.

I suggest, seeing how you don't seem to know much about audio, to go to your local Home Theater or Stereo shop and let them school you a bit

  • Hi, can I plug my dmx scanners to a dimmer pack and control it by a controller. would I go from my controller to the input on the dimmer pack and of that into the next out of that into the input of the scanner.

    MetelProductions

  • I would avoid dimmer packs unless you are working with Hallogen par cans.

When you are working with DMX lighting... or non dmx lighting where motors or other moving parts, built-in programs, LED Diods, etc, thoes fixtures are more than a light bulb. Thoes other features require a steady stream of power which a dimmer will rob them of and mess your shit up

  • alright i asked this bout lighting so im gonna ask this bout speakers could someone do a video on speaker placement in the event your stands dont fit in the place your djing or in the case you may not have stands thanks

  • Hey, I have a gemini mm-3000 mixer and it has no led display on each channel just the main master led. I want to be able to monitor the level of channel 1 when i'm cueing and channel 2 when i'm cueing. Whatever way I have it set up, the right led is the right speaker and the left led is the left speaker. How can I make the left led the left cd player level and the right led the right cd player level. Hope this makes sence. Please help someone. Appreciated!

  • Hi, I found that your mixer doesn't have balance that could do that. The best way I think is to use stereo to mono rca jack and connect cd player to left input of channel 1 and the other to right input of channel 2. Please note that you will only have mono output from your cd player on both channel and channel 1 output can only heard from left speakers and vice versa. Hope it helps. :-)

  • Cheers for the reply. I get what your saying. however, the mixer does have a 'Balance' knob.. does this still mean that I cant do it it stereo? I've used similar hired equipment in the past that had been already set up for me and it was set up in this way..

  • Cool, Since you have balance on all channel you could 2 left channel for cdj1 and 2 right channel for cdj2 then you don't need stereo converter. but of course the of the cdj1 is sitll on your left speaker and same as the cdj2 to right. BTW google the "audio VU Meter" and maybe you could DIY for at least 2 channels in a separate board for few dollars or ask electronics technicians they can do it for you.

  • Hey, I have a gemini mm-3000 mixer. It has no led display on each channel just the main led display. Whatever way I've set it up the left led is left speaker and the right led is right speaker.. how do i set it up so that left is left cd player and right is right cd player.. Hope this is understandable. Please help someone. Thanks!

  • how to setup my gear if I have an equalizer w/ behringer feedback destroyer and the amp how do i set it up

  • whats a good pair of headphones? i have several pair but none really work for me. They all let in too much external sound for my tastes. I need good powerful headphones that block out external sound without being rediulously expensive. any ideas?

  • hey guys, i am about to buy an alesis imultimix 8 or 16 usb and i want to know one vital information.... can i plug every input to a single amp or does the sound go all together to the amp?(coz all the instruments together would be too much for my amo to put up with) thx

  • I have the same Crown XLS 602 as you. I do not DJ but I run 2-4 Bose 301 speakers depending on the setup. They are rated at 10-150 watts per channel and Rated 4-8 ohms. From your video it looks like the speakers and amp will automatically detect how many ohms to use once you set up your speaker config is that correct? 2 301 speakers is one line to each channel,4 do you recommend 4 independent wire lines to back of amp or bridging like your diagram showed? Finally how do you wire 3 Bose 301s?

  • hey anyone that wants to answer this question please do so....im looking to buy 4 Mtx Tp112...1 speaker is just a 12 inch n a horn..would all 4 of these be loud enough for basicly any kind of party that i do?

  • Hi Brian and viewers

I am in need for some new speakers, i do small DJ service as a hobbie and im looking to make some money out of it, but i want to take it serious. will the JBL JRX 115's be enough for a venue of 100-150 people? check out my video responce above?^^^^^

    Cheers Guys

    DJR3D

  • You should be ok with a JRX 115's, and a good amp, add a sub to be safe!

  • Hi Brian

I generally enjoy sitting around and listening to my LPs. Most of them are new, and I am wondering which type of stylus will keep my records lasting longer and provide the best sound- a conical or elliptical stylus? Also, how do I know when my stylus needs replaced BEFORE it does harm to my LPs?

I've really been enjoying your shows here on YouTube. Great job! I only hope that I've place my question in the proper area. Thanks!

  • from what I know, elliptical styli have better sound quality and spherical styli have the lowest record wear

  • compared to JBLs how good are sonic speakers, specificly How good are the Sonic t-153 compared to the JBL JRX-115?

  • Hey, I was looking into this because I have JBl JRX 115's, and was looking into it. I know the DCR of the Stock JBl Driver is 4 ohms, and the Selenium is 8 ohms. With the JBL JRX crossover for the HF driver is an attenuated zobel filter circuit, which varies with Ohms, and depends entirely on the resistance of the speaker. There is power loss, I've tested that the frequency of the cross over lowers, from 1600 hz to 800 hz with a 4 ohm change to 8 ohm. Selinium says 2khz at least. is this safe??

  • hey brian i have 2 jbl jrx125 3way 2x15speaker cabs with the crown xti1000 amp... iwant 2 buy a powered sub to go with my set up is it possible to use a powerered sub with this set up if so how & what do you recommend 15in or 18. and whats the best settings for the best sound i do hip hop and r/b so we love that BASS! i usually get gigs with 150-300 people thanx DJ AKI21..chicago

  • hi, i am doing a part soon for around 50 people in what i have been told is a small hall. I have got a 300 watt sound system at the moment and I was wondering whether I could cover it with this. Also I would like to know how far (people and venue size) I could take a 300 watt before having to replace it. Thanks very much

  • Hey Brain,

My partner and I are just starting out, but we have a pretty big budget. My partner is convinced that Mackies are the best speakers in the world, even though they are ridiculously priced. Can you, or anyone help me find a set of speakers that are cheaper and have as good or better quality? Thanks

  • Hmm well, Mackie does make a nice speaker. So do several other companies such as JBL, RCF, EV, etc.

Were you looking for more of a powered option or just passive speakers?

  • I am just looking for a basic 12"-15" PA speaker with good kick for a beginner mobile DJ. He (my partner) wants to look professional, which is a plus in my opinion but I do not think we need to pay $600 per speaker. Thanks for the help.

  • Brian, I've struggled with finding a reliable lapel mic. I bought a Shure PG1288/PG185 Vocal/Lavalier Combo Wireless System back in the spring, and now the lavalier works intermittently. Of course, nothings worse than having an officiant flip in and out of the sound system. Even if this was fixed, I now worry that it'll screw another wedding. What do you use/recommend?

  • I don't mess with wireless anymore. WAY back in the day when I use to do industrial A/V, I liked Audio Technica's wireless stuff over Shure. Not sure what's what anymore. Not only that, but the FCC is going to mess with the wireless frequencys! Read up before you buy!!

  • Hi Brian

How reliable are XLR cables, and for that matter Speakon cables.

    Andre

  • Good quality cables are very reliable. Having said that, it never hurts to have a back-up or two JUST in case :)

  • Yo wassup YouTube Im thinking in buying power speakers from JBL its betweenn the PRX 535 3way speaker 650 W continuous 1300 W peak or the New EON 515 2 way speaker 450 W continuous 900 w peak I want to know wich pair would cover a larger crowed I dont know alot of the specs any help would be trully appreaciated

  • PRX 535 will cover a larger area at the cost of weight.

If you cant lift heavy items go with the EON's but if your like me and will find a way to cart around dual 80lb subs with two 1000w pole speakers to every gig just because I like the sound then the 535 are a better choice with a better SPL, three way config, larger compression driver, etc...

    Good Luck!

  • Hey, I'm a new DJ and I need a set of speakers and an amp for $1000 or less. Do you have any suggestion for what I can get for venues such as bars or homes?

  • you should go powered speakers and subs all the way 2X12in and 1x15in powered sub 4get amps
