I think those selections were just a calculated attempt to piss off the crowd and get them to react. The police didn't show up with body armor, face shield and clubs just to stand around and get bored. They want a fight. They live for the rush. Its funny how they will antagonize a peaceful protest in a large city but when its something violatile like the L.A. Riots they are nowhere to be found.

If you protest remember to register first so police are aware of the protest location so they can be sure to avoid violent protests breaking out (that way you won't be charged with disturbing the peace). Also ask the police department for advice because if the protest appears dangerous then you are in violation of free speech. The constitution says free speech is a right if there is no inflammatory speech. The police can't take sides if they do tell a congressmen. The police will help, just ask

Ticketing people for honking in support of protesters is a blatant abuse of police power. Clearly, on that day at least, the cops were working for the Scientologists and not the people of Dekalb County. In doing so they defamed the uniform and badges they wore. I expect some of them later gathered at the local donut shop and had a good laugh about the whole thing. Such poor behavior on the part of police embodies the very essence of the epithet "pig." In this case it is well deserved.
