The Japs won't bother competing directly against the behemoth, aka WoW. Because quite frankly, if the customer base is generally comparing every MMORPG to WoW. Then those people don't want an innovative game, or a game that is different.

Too many people are in their comfortable little WoW bubble, who get itchy and anxious when the next thing they try isn't nearly an exact replica.
