litsen i ref junior high games here in mississippi, and i would have never pushed coaches out of the way like that, the fat ref was so far out of the play he was just running down the field out of reaction, no call for that just through a warning or flag.

That line judge was obviously out of position. In a normal high school crew of 5 officials the line judge and linesman have responsibility for forward progress from goal line to goal line. In other words, he was too fat and too slow to properly cover the play correctly and his conduct was unprofessional. Its true that coaches are not supposed to be on the field but this should have been a non-issue if the line judge was properly covering the play.

I was a rugby league referee/touch judge up until recently and there is NOTHING more annoying that people standing on/over the line when you're trying to touch judge the game. I've sprinted into people who do this many a time, they get two warnings, then BOOM. I've knocked coaches over and everything, nothing happens about it because it's their own fault for being there. So glad I don't have that job anymore :)

The ref was fat and slow, but coaches don't belong on the field in the way. We're required to run (AND be able to SEE) the sideline.

When coaches get in my way, I don't even see them, they just go flying. But I'm not some fat butt old man, either.

I watched the video alittle more in depth and by rule, it would be just sideilne interference b/c there were alot of people past the 2 yards restranit line. Only coaches can be past that line but not on the field, or it would then be unsportsman like contuct due to illegel part.

The big deal is that coaches don't belong on the field and they need to keep their sideline clear. Only three coaches are allowed in the two yard lane between the sideline and the team box.

Think of it this was, if it were a long pass play down the sideline, how can that official see if the receiver was inbounds or not? I was working the sideline once a few years ago in a Frosh game and when a long run happened and I knocked over a JV player art the 20 yard line and threw a flag.

No need to push them. The rule's simple. Coach on the field = 15 yard USC penalty. Throw the flag, then keep heading down the field.
