The person to blame is the one who said, "Hey, let's repeat the song, because it sounded so good the first time!" Plus, I am having serious issues with the pitch and her inability to stay on tempo. This is not a difficult song.
Everyone wants to get on stage, so it's not her fault. But who made the decision to have her singing this difficult song? Just to list a few things: her intonation is inconstant, her breath support sounds untrained, and her dynamics are poor... She's not suited for fulfilling the requirements this song calls for.... Maybe she's just amazingly nervous, but that itself is a reason to not have someone on stage till their ready.

guys, Malia is the sweetest girl and she is AMAZING and you only wish you could sing like her. its just the quality because she is only a freshman and she blew everyone away.
believe it or not, my high school has let onstage A LOT worse. lol. i do believe that the teachers at my school who sit through the auditions and rehearsals are absolutely deaf.

@import26 Our choir teacher picks the people in pops too... each time over 100 people audition, and around 10 get in.

honey don't make singing your day job. you'd be poor and eventually die of starvation.

It may be the quality, but if not there's some weird thing going on with her voice.
Still, she's...not horrible. Not Broadway material, not Spring Awakening material, but she's not horrible.
I don't like the "Mam-ha" notes. Why does she say it with an h? It just makes her sound weird.

The lighting is actually quite impressive. She is NOT horrible. She gets kudos just for getting up on stage.
