What is the maneuver called at 1.20? Must have taken some serious horsepower or is it camera angle when the aircraft appears to hang in the air for a good 5 seconds...?
Without a doubt, best Pitts demo that I've seen in my rookie 30 years of aviating; hands down, the best. Didn't realize that he died, until I read some of the comments.
Sadly, I have to admit that this is the very first time I've ever had the pleasure to watch this guy fly....I have heard of his incredible flying abilities with this equally incredible plane...but, only now...got to see him...wish I could of seen him "live". There is no question in watching him, that he and the Pitts are One and the same!! UNBELIEVABLE !! Forgive me for asking...but, how did he meet his demise & when ??
Jim was a friend of mine. He used to have the hanger next to me in California and after a day of flying he would come over and visit. He had a refrigerator in his hanger and he usually supplied the refreshments. He was a lot fun with a great attitude. I watched him grow as an aerobatic pilot on his road to his dream...to go pro.. He took me up one day in a two place Pitts...i didn't last too long and stopped before I vomited in the very expensive airplane. I miss him.
@rickbennettart1 Sir, could you answer my comment I just posted in the comment box for me....if you wouldn't mind ?? I would appreciate it. Thank You for your time.
dangerous cowboy.None of his rolls are properly co-ordianted,all his exicution is sloppy and made up on the spot. This guy is gonna kill himself very soon
Son,Jim flew the S2 like an extension of his own body. Few men have ever pushed an airframe so close to it's thresholds and kept in in one piece. He's one of the most precise pilots I've ever seen in my life. The very fact that you don't know who he was tells me you need to go back to your flight sim and post CG videos. Nothing LeRoy did was "made up on the spot". The man was not only an incredible pilot, he was a Marine.
He was only 46 yrs old when he died at an air show in Ohio. Survived by his wife & son. He was a former US Marine Scout/Sniper. He had a degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace engineering. Smart, talented, fearless, great showman . . . what a loss.

@funkyzero And he's dead now too.
There are Old Pilots
There are Bold pilots
There are no Old Bold Pilots.
I think you'd do well to consider the ironic accuracy of rastorry's comments
