@earmullet I just bought the whole 6 movies collector edition set in HD and honestly it looks simply amazing in 1080p on a 60" screen. yes there are some changes, but if you are a true Star Wars fan, you should be happy that Lucas always accepted to release more material about his own masterpiece, like HD movies, animated series, not to forget The Old Republic Online with Bioware wich is amazing, he could have stoped and abandoned everything. So I say... Long Live Star Wars! Star Wars For Life!

@luis6079 The CGI did ruin the movies. It's not very well done. It was done in the 90's and was bad and choppy even by 90's standards. It sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the movie and just looks bad. I am not against directors cuts and new scenes added into movies as long as it's done well. A perfect example of this is the Directors Edition of Star Trek the Motion Picture. The new scenes seamlessly blend in with the old. This is not true for the Star Wars Special Edition.
@ErikVaughnDillinger No I didn't mean to make it dirt cheap, smart ass. I think $80.00 retail price would be a whole lot more reasonable then $140.00. Blue Ray isn't that special to make a boxset that cost more than the blue ray player itself.
This was a good job for being made back in 2009... I almost believed it until I seen the date of upload, and the fact that you didn't put the other directors at the end credits. George Lucas did not direct all 6 films as you suggest..

@sidney765 the original trilogy in it's truest form would be in what we now call "high definition." When people went to the theaters in the 70's to see the movies for the first time they saw a movie projected off of FILM! FILM is an analog source and has no definite "resolution," but 35mm film is scanned at 4K resolution (4000p vs 1080p). So saying the original trilogy's truest form is on VHS is idiotic. 1080p is barely passable as the truest form of the theatrical versions of the films.

@sidney765 There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting the original cut of the films without all the CGI bullshit that was added in. God forbid fans want a proper transfer from the film as opposed to a 4:3 letterboxed Laserdisc Transfer on a DVD like they gave us back in 2004.
VHS is not the true form or how they are meant to be seen. These were done on FILM. Film has infinite resolution, greater than that of Blu Ray. God forbid fans want a good quality release of the original versions.
@SergeantLuke As I said they were transferred from the old Laserdisc release, which in turn made them look worse than the Laserdisc version. A transfer from the original Film in HD would look leagues better than what we got in on DVD years ago. There's nothing wrong with wanting a good quality release of those cuts in HD.
And last I checked those DVD's didn't tank. They had both cuts of the films and are still in production and can be bought.

@sidney765 Before the VHS, it was shown in cinemas on 70mm theatrical prints from this you could get the original theatrical releases in HD. You can get other films made in 1977 on Bluray and they have not been butchered. Why cant there be the suped up CGI version for the fans of the 6 films and the original versions available for fans of the original trilogy Then we will stop "whining" and everyone will be happy. Imagine if you couldn't watch your favourite film in HD or even good quality DVD

@luis6079 The CGI did ruin the movies. It's not very well done. It was done in the 90's and was bad and choppy even by 90's standards. It sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the movie and just looks bad. I am not against directors cuts and new scenes added into movies as long as it's done well. A perfect example of this is the Directors Edition of Star Trek the Motion Picture. The new scenes seamlessly blend in with the old. This is not true for the Star Wars Special Edition.

This was a good job for being made back in 2009... I almost believed it until I seen the date of upload, and the fact that you didn't put the other directors at the end credits. George Lucas did not direct all 6 films as you suggest..

Ppl differ to what they like in these films, as i grew up with the originals and seeing empire strikes back at the tender age of 4, i think for me il choose just the original trilogy, yes i know there not the originals but the special edtions but theres nothing u can do about it, lucas has said he will not release the originals(like the choice for dvd) on to blu-ray so there we have it. you can ither buy the whole saga and throw beer at ur tv screen at jaja binks, or sit back relax..

@sidney765 the original trilogy in it's truest form would be in what we now call "high definition." When people went to the theaters in the 70's to see the movies for the first time they saw a movie projected off of FILM! FILM is an analog source and has no definite "resolution," but 35mm film is scanned at 4K resolution (4000p vs 1080p). So saying the original trilogy's truest form is on VHS is idiotic. 1080p is barely passable as the truest form of the theatrical versions of the films.

@sidney765 Hmm, I don't know if you're aware of this, but film negative is more detailed than DVD, let alone "VHS". The films were meant to be seen in theatres, with full detail. You rmention of VHS doesn't even begin to make sense.

@sidney765 There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting the original cut of the films without all the CGI bullshit that was added in. God forbid fans want a proper transfer from the film as opposed to a 4:3 letterboxed Laserdisc Transfer on a DVD like they gave us back in 2004.
VHS is not the true form or how they are meant to be seen. These were done on FILM. Film has infinite resolution, greater than that of Blu Ray. God forbid fans want a good quality release of the original versions.

@SergeantLuke As I said they were transferred from the old Laserdisc release, which in turn made them look worse than the Laserdisc version. A transfer from the original Film in HD would look leagues better than what we got in on DVD years ago. There's nothing wrong with wanting a good quality release of those cuts in HD.
And last I checked those DVD's didn't tank. They had both cuts of the films and are still in production and can be bought.

@sidney765 Whoah. First off, watching Star Wars on VHS is not at all how the films were meant to be seen. VHS crops films and puts them in the 4:3 format, so you would be missing much of the image. Second, what the hell is wrong with a fan wanting to see the ACTUAL MOVIE? Seriously? At least you should be able to understand of appreciate that not everyone wants to see a director's cut. Could you imagine if you could no longer get Gone With the Wind or Casablanca on home video in their original forms? Instead you'd have deleted scenes inserted, CGI sunsets and airplanes, etc. Unfortunately, the Lucas fanboys are all under 25 and somehow view the Prequels as the real SW, modern classics all. The original classics are just old, corny shit to them.

They did grow up with the films so to them the original versions shown in theaters are what they feel the film should have stayed at. But at the same time the makers of star wars were the ones who all agreed on the updates to the films and I don't see the updates as that big of a deal, however I didn't grow up with the films like other people. Nontheless, I feel they are perfectly fine. people should quit their bitchin haha

@sidney765 Before the VHS, it was shown in cinemas on 70mm theatrical prints from this you could get the original theatrical releases in HD. You can get other films made in 1977 on Bluray and they have not been butchered. Why cant there be the suped up CGI version for the fans of the 6 films and the original versions available for fans of the original trilogy Then we will stop "whining" and everyone will be happy. Imagine if you couldn't watch your favourite film in HD or even good quality DVD
