Hey I just bought a used ac720 sunburst acoustic guitar with the serial number 3332. The store had it listed as an af720 and i got it for under $800. Mine has a pickguard and i was wondering if you knew anything about that.

@TheThoughtfulTrees Never heard of an af720. What does it say on the label inside? This guitar has long been sold so you probably have this guitar (someone probably added the pickguard). Thanks for the comment!

I suppose your right...Yes the eastman does sound better after further listening..

@flyingcocknballs Thanks for the comments, the thing is (and mistake a lot of people make who are used to watching videos on youtube) is that a computer speaker playback, or even computer audio system generally (although the sound is better with a good set of headphones) so its tough to hear the differences with a laptop unlike it would be with your raw ear in person. That's why we feel that quality microphones, and a good quality playback is essential for hearing the instruments we demo

check out the yamaha review model fg730s at kraftmusic.... Right here on youtube hes playing a cheap 299.00 laminate sunburst, with a u87..Then tell me the mic dosent help..It sounds as good as the eastman, I realize there are exceptions, and that a good guitar and a bad guitar are distincly different things, tell a vocalist that to use a mic that makes him sound bad, and he or she will walk..Just my opinion..A mic wont make a piece of shit sound good, However somthing decent could come alive..

@flyingcocknballs Honestly, if you listen to that vid in a serious listening environment, there is no comparison to the Eastman... just listened here in the Studio. That being said, of course a proper mic makes things sound their best, but there is only so much polishing of a turd that you can do. A de facto critical recording of something can't happen with an SM57 unless it's snare drum or electric guitar. It may happen with another "standard" microphone but not a dynamic, and def not a 57.

@flyingcocknballs Thanks for the comment! To be perfectly honest I have to strongly, respectfully disagree. If the guitar sounds like garbage a great sounding microphone will let you know just how much like garbage it sounds. Record with an SM57 and everything sounds like garbage- the mic and the guitar!  With a great mic and signal path you can hear everything that the microphone is doing.
