@Saartje05 No "double shoes" are used as there are strict USEF standards on shoeing that must be followed. The bits used on Saddlebreds are often less severe than those used on western horses. As for the cut tails, this practice dates to the Saddlebred's origin as a carriage horse. It keeps the horse from clamping down on a driving line and causing an accident, and the practice was continued to modern times. If anything, it helps the horse, allowing the back muscles to stretch and relax.
@Saartje05 And as for it being natural, find a video of a Saddlebred foal on free roam in the pasture. You'll see that before ever having worn shoes, these babies are lifting their knees, driving with their hocks, and holding their heads high. If it's so unnatural, please explain how a young colt, who's never been professionally handled, is exhibiting these characteristics. It's genetic, that's why. It's what they're bred for and what they're born to do.
@kds3491 Please explain that when a colt is already walking like that the tail muscle gets cut, the horse has to walk with extra heavy shoes and a HUGE bit? Yes, a colt walks natural, but that's all gone the moment a human thinks it can even get 'better'.
I believe haters of saddleseat dont understand! Every diciplin HAS a dark side! Jumping! Drug, force at younge, never let them rest, Dressage! Tighten there heads that they become stiff soo many awful things i learned i wont share and many more you wouldent even guess! Weights i know can be sad but if that horse puts them to his noes it's perfectly fine! They are draging it is deserved to be called 'abusive' You know nothing about saddleseat so why fight? ask Merril Murray! You'l see!
@Luneytoon121 oh yeah, when those idiots are training them they do, i personally hate that as well. Especially with the TWHs. But I've known some very nice ASB horses who do it naturally, but those were $30,000+ horses.
@horsesLcool exactly and people don't want to spend that much money for a horse so they will by a cheap one of the breed and abuse it to walk high, and they do it naturally but they don't step high enough (highest stepping horse wins)
@Luneytoon121they put mustard right above there hoof rub it in paper towels over it then weights, that is the same as rubbing sand into your skin with weights then forced to run around with extreme pain every step.sometimes they even chain their hooves together. and don't even start me on the bits they have in sorry went over character limit had too post in two comments
@Luneytoon121 "Highest stepping horse wins?" seriously? Please sweetie, read the USEF rulebook for expected standards when showing American Saddlebreds, it never states that the highest stepping horse wins the class. It also wouldn't hurt for you to do some background reading on the breed itsself. Clearly your knowledge is EXTREMELY limited.
@Luneytoon121 Hun theres about nothing rong? When they have there ears forward, arent bucking, doing there best! I believe thats not bad? Get your facts straight before you bitch!
the way they train these poor horses and the thing sthey do so they'll step higher... it's fucking cruel. beauty comes at a gruesome and cruel price. definately not comely to spray hot spray on their legs so they're uncomfortable and have to life that heavy shit on their feet...
Out of curiosity, how much do you actually know about how "they" train these horses? Because I'm not cruel to my horse. Only through shoeing and conditioning do I get him to step 'High". He goes two inches above level, and has never had "hot spray" (whatever that is). And the shoes have a maximum weight they can be, so as not to overly strain the tendons. Check the USEF rulebook. Deviation results in huge fines and penalties. Get your facts straight, please.
Self centered, egotistical little bitches exploiting their animals because they think it makes them look good. It doesn't. It makes you look like the idiots you are
@Automedon2 Uhhhh Dude. You are an idiot who obviously has no idea what they are talking about. I ride saddleseat and I might be a bitch But I don't hurt my Horse because I love her and I actually rescued her.
Cut tails, huge bits, double horse shoes. Yeah, how natural this is. It´s not even beautiful, it´s so ugly it´s disgusting.
