@N17771 I don't know exactly how many dimmers it was, but I think the number was around 65 (I can't remember what all I twofered, but I think it was just the pinspot fans that were linked). The venue has 380 dimmers, about 360 of which are available around the theatre (rest reserved for houselights and worklights).
Also, remember that moving lights don't use dimmers, so those just straight circuits.
@sixvideos I use what are called "follow times" for my cues on the lighting console to make the cues go at the right time in the song. These are pre-determined to the hundredth of a second so that the lights match with the music.
Ion is a very nice console to program on. Very impressive. Your programming time would be cut significantly if you were on an Eos I think with the extra use of touch screens.
@Maxweisenberger I was using two 19" touchscreens to program with. I prefer that over an EOS because I can arrange the screens better and the screens are also bigger than those on the EOS. I like to have a customizable workspace so having the screens not attached to the console worked well. Not that I'd complain about having an EOS, mind you, but the ION worked fine and I don't think that I'd see much of a productivity increase with the EOS.
@silkyhands914 This was all follow times. No MIDI control at all. The ION is nice in that you can do follow times to 2 decimal places, so I was able to do the show that way. I would have liked to do MIDI, but I didn't have time to fix the timing issues that I was having with Qlab which is what I would have used to fire the MIDI commands.
What impresses me most is the lack of repetition. Your older shows often felt like they kept doing the same thing for just a little too long, and therefore would loose their grip on an audience. Here, any time the same theme is used over, it keeps enough variety that it never feels overly repetitious.
Great Job. I'm bummed I will never get to work with you
@Erastum Thanks! That's really what I was going for. I agree with all of your comments - this is my favorite piece of work by far for those reasons. The colors and repetition in this show just really fell in to place. I put together everything that I'd learned and disliked from previous shows and used that experience to do the best possible show that I could for this one.
(1/2) It's fantastic to see how much more refined these have become in just a year.
I have to agree with your own comment: The color palette is fantastic, and each color works incredibly well with the others. The movements are graceful, tasteful and not just flashy.
Pretty cool! I was at the Band On The Run tour in '75 & this song was the high point of the concert. You've re-created that excitement in your vid. Good job!
At what distance are you filming from, Icant get a perspective on the stage size or rig size? do you have any shots of the rig itself? Very good job on the DMX programing
Love to see a programer with passion
