Hey, i noticed you have the same motherboard as i do and also you have a 6870, i have the HIS edition of the 6870 but it seems you play at higher settings than i do without getting any lag. I have to turn everything down to low on my end to not get lag. I think the problem might be my 600W Diablotek PSU but i am not sure. If you coordinate with your gunner, fly into the enemy spawn from the side and light up the AA gun before they can use it. There's usually not someone sitting in it unless they're getting attacked and if u take it out you can dominate there spawn

If there's a jet, you stay low and avoid it, you don't go up higher into their zone and try to kill them. I dip low when a jet is after me and 2 out of 3 times they end up crashing themselves, problem solved.

First jets, than helis, than AA than tanks, than infantry. Jets are the biggets threats for you.

@lucidstorm123 Not at the start of the round, the biggest threat to a jet is another jet so unless they have no intention of being airborne for long they will not take a second look at a heli.

During the rest of the match the opposing jets might not even pay attention to you as tanks are a much easier target to take down, plus jets have a moderate respawn rate so if they take two jets down, take a tank or two down they'll have more jets to dogfight with.

Unless jets harass me, I leave them be.

@TheKillingExpress Same as Xbox and PC, just keep the main crosshair over an enemy jet or heli (heat seekers wont work against ground vehicles) until the box around the vehicle turns solid then fire away!

I like to keep a solid lock on for a few seconds to see if the opposing pilot throws flares immediately as they often do a good 4 or 5/10 times, then re-lock on (double switch back to heat seekers as a weird glitch stops you locking on again sometimes) and spam fire to launch both heat seekers.

@AuldeyST First you have to change to your heat seekers, by pressing 2 or F. When you have heat seekers on, try to get the target to the middle of your crosshairs and then it will automatically start locking on. Then you have to keep the target inside the circle to get a full lock on and when you reach it, just press the shooting button on your mouse (left mouse button)

@1ricky1r They're located in your spawn area, every map with jets you can spawn into the jets from the spawn menu but you can't always spawn into the attack helicopter. Maps where the jets are on an aircraft carrier you can spawn into the attack helicopter.

The key to getting them is having the best connection and fastest fingers on your team ;D That or just wait in the spawn screen for some time until they become available again.

Anyways, if you are piloting the helo, it's just mostly your job to keep you two safe and know when to get the out of the hot zones, ie. getting constantly locked on, that's your cue to bail, preferably as close to the ground as you can.

I personally didnt like flying with keyboard and mouse, so I'm just going with keyboard, it's great if you got a decent one that doesnt have a limit how many buttons you can press at the sametime. But yeah, if you are still learning to fly, you WILL crash and burn, a lot unless you have some previous experience, the helos are great once you get the hang of it, you might not get many kills, but your gunner sure will, and will love you forever if you pilot well. :)

@lyzedpara If I'm not mistaken, the helicopter in Battlefield 3 is actually a Bell AH-1Z Viper, which is similar to an AH-1 Cobra or an AH-1 SuperCobra.

@aethyal Theyre the same thing just more technologicly advanced. The viper is apart of the marines cobra series starting the oringinal cobra in vietnam used by army and to viper cobra which is used currently today and in the game.

how come whenever i shoot my heat seeking missiles at other helis and jets, they seem to launch flak endlessly, but when I get missiles launched at me, I only have about 2 and they don't even work a lot of time?..

@wcuppett A gunner can also have flares, which means him and the pilot can alternate flares, making it almost impossible to get a solid hit with lock on missiles.

@aethyal i don't think the flare stacks. when I fly the chopper i have the ECM jammer on and have my buddy in the gunner seat use the flare only for emergency. the ground troop has very hard time to shoot us down. the only time it doesn't work so well is when I don't have sights on the enemy helo.

i'm still debating what to use for my first upgrade: air radar or laser designator.

Helicopters are the real threat, not Jets. I have the missiles unlocked now, you can do some serious damage.

not to be full of myself but i only fly jets until i have all the unlocks (one more to go i think) MY priority one targets are Heli's cause they can stay locked on to you for a while even with flare heli are my enemies more than other jets

Tip: you should change minimap size, specially if you are going to go for an aereal vehicle such as jets or chops. Easier to track vehicles.

@Habbopixar Ignore other air vehicles and go for ground vehicles and infantry as quickly as you can. Also, if you land a chopper on a conquest flag your capture points count toward the vehicle.
