Hi, My Ottos love a slice of Courgette, I drop it in boiling water for about 5 seconds, let it cool and then weight it so it sinks at the front of the tank. I only leave it there for 1 day, if it has not all been eaten, it is then removed. The Ottos love it so there is usually not much left after a day. I do this about twice a week. These are great little fish mine are nearly two years old now and are doing really well.
what do you feed your otos when theres no algae? my 10 gal tank still has a lot of algae but im not sure what to feed them when it runs out. they wont eat top fin algae wafers i bought for them... any advice is appreciated! thank you

That green stuff is often caused by a light being on for too long. I find 10 hours a day is just fine. Another cause of the green stuff is your bulbs are old. Apparently you're supposed to change the bulbs every 2 years.
I have 18 fish in total in this tank too many really, the tank is filtered with an external Fluval 103 filter, and I do a 20% water change every two weeks. The two catfish will be 5 years old in June and doing well. The Otos are the youngest they are 8 months old.

It's not a Otoocinclus affinis (these are quite rare in the aquarium trade).
It is - Otocinclus macrospilus. The break before the black blob on the caudal tells you this.
See The Aquarium Wiki Encyclopaedia web site and look up "Oto".
