  • I was there!

  • Awesome. I remember riding my skateboard down a hill in my estate singing this at the top of my voice during the Italia '90 football world cup. Those were the days. Sadly missed.

  • Simplemente :

    La Ostia !!!!!

  • @fofesni Bien parables, Rest in Peace Senor Pavarotti, much love on your journey.

  • hes old in that song :( but even like that hes the best

  • The thing to be praised here is the man's love and passion for the music and also you have to overlook the physical decline, absolutely natural, for the 66 year old singer. This was hugely different from the 1998 3-tenors performance, but still it was beautiful.

  • 2:48 Screen Saver

  • is he was ill???

  • You can tell that he enjoys every minute of the song, that's what makes him great; he truly loves music.

  • look at these teleprompters!

  • pfffffffffffff too bad that this mastreo is gone he hits me with his voice right in my heart

  • he say "Dragon Ball" at 2:10 O_o jajajaaj XD

  • @ubewd tramontatte stelle

  • R.I.P luci

  • escucha "Il Gladiatore", a ver qué te parece ;)

  • People get things wrong, this web page is aimed to make a constructive opinions about what we see and listen, however, when some of us do, others dont like it and start been uneducated and incivil, intolerant etc, why??? I got the right of not liking a perfomace of Luciano as some others that were very good of him and I said it, I am not always that fun blinded.

  • @tena2

Want a constructive opinion? He's the greatest ever, even as an old man. Eat it punk.

  • That´s not being constructive either I am afraid. He was not good at everything apart from publicity and marketing. He was a well talented voice with not art as an actor. Overall he did the job but he was not the best at all. I found a few roles excellent sung by him and some other, I would just not even turn it on. We got to be fair and honest to the art of opera to keep it going

  • @tena2 actually to be fair and honest, pavarotti was not only a perfected singer but a wonderful actor. That was one of the leading factors in his music that moved people. He showed true emotion through his eyes, his face, and his voice. Theres no need for whaling your arms all over the stage to try and express emotion. Its just fake and damn distracting. Watch Pavarotti's art song work, it doesnt get any better.

Peopl who think this are just ones that have no clue what true acting is.

  • @aroncooker well to be honest, you are not in the position of declaring what true acting is unless you are a profesor etc, even If you are, its all down to taste, Pav was not recognised all over the world for his acting which I consider very poor if Any, Pav was known for his rare personality to fame, money, when young top clear notes. His legacy is huge for those who like Pav´s skills, to me hi was not an example of opera interpretation but yes he had a fantastic voice.

  • we can notice in this video that he was not in his prime anymore...but he still beats any other tenor by lightyears

  • UN MAESTRO!!!

    ESTO ES SER UN CANTANTE!

  • Braviiiisiiiimo!!!!

  • ah, he sounds older in this video, with less energy. too bad, he used to be soooo good...

  • He STILL sounds better than any young (or old) tenor on the planet.

He is forever the Tenor God.

  • well He did the job here but if any other had sung this like this, so tired, then they would have been boed, bad because this is Luciano then he is outstanding. I am sorry but we ought to be humble sometimes and admit that this is not that good and he was not in enough form to sing this night.

  • tena2, There is no tenor that has a 100% perfect record. Ask anyone that's seen this video if even 40 year olds have off nights..

    watch?v=F-p7hMNpJJM

The tone & sheer beauty of Pavarotti's voice trumps ANY & ALL tenors. He may have not had the best night of his life here, but how could he cancel this? There was no way. And yes, any tenor would DIE to have the voice he has here or 25 years ago.

In the US we don't boo beloved legends. We have more respect than that.

  • I do have respect as I am a tenor myself, however we seem to have differents ways to service music and opera. how could he cancel this you say? He was quite a master of cancelling perfomances actually, all throughout his life however this is not actually picking on him because that, I only aim to say that the when the state of a voice is not good enough there is a need of not singing for the job´s sake.

  • ..and on his worst day he'd sing you right out the window, Mr. Tenor.

So uh, yeah, save it. This guy is THE legend. Never to be duplicated.

  • I am sorry but there is no reason to talk to me in that way, I hav not spoken bad about Luciano and I have all the rights of the world to put across my opinion, If I think that he was not in a good vocal form here to sing this then this is what I think and that is why this page is form, to make out opinions, there is no need to humiliate me by saying he can sing better than me in his worst day, you could at least have manners like me.

  • he is always, always.....so good

  • Luciano Pavarotti is amazing here even in his progressive age, his voice is strong and very accurate. bravo Luciano I Love You.

  • he doesn't have the energy he used to have in some of his older videos, but it's still much better than other tenors. definitely the best.

  • He was a genious!!!

    Great, thanks for upload

  • BRAVO! BRAVO!

  • The master

  • MY God! Thank you.

  • Bravo Maestro.

  • i love the smile at the end,

    RIP Maestro

  • Where can I buy this DVD because I don' see it anywhere.

  • Thank's for this video!!!!!...Pavarotti= THE BEST!!!,Mexico loves'you...

  • did any of us ask for theinquisitive4evas opinion? we didnt ask him any of the things he is telling us...

  • Amazing! At this age, better than most 20 year olds. Indisputably, the greatest tenor of all time. I love you 4-ever Maestro!

    XOXOXOXO

  • Kraus, as GREAT as he was (and I like him as a tenor), was never as exciting as Pavarotti. He also sung a much narrower repertoire. Pava's voice lasted very long actually. Kraus was an extreme exception. Pava's cancellations and such was because of his health problems. He struggled with his weight. Normally, tenors retire around 50-55. At age 55 Pava was still singing a top C in La Boheme in San Fransisco!

  • Pity there is more freedom in the stages where the Puccini opera, set in China, is perfomed, that in today's contunuing ruthless regime.

One day, freedom will tirumph there, and those millions opressed would sing a real , "Vincero".

  • what the hell do you know about that place? have you ever been there? freedom doesn't give you the right to kill all the communists. If you really believe in your so-called "freedom", so let them have little freedom of their own, let them mind their own business.

    I hate hypocrite like you

  • With such an agressive response, you surely sound like a member of a repressive state agency.

It's the government who does not let the Chinese "mind their own bussines", talk freely, organize either politically or religiousy as they will.

The Chinese people have been under oppression for their whole history. I's time for them to know the plentiful benefits of the freedoms we take for granted in the U.S.

So schmucks like you can make a fool of themselves at pleasure here in YouTube.

    :)

  • Pavarotti 67!

Pa & Сo the best tenors.

  • Yes! I can barely sing along with this! But at the last note, my jaw is very tight... That's unacceptable... I should work on that.

No sean odiosos!

  • Excellent comment...

  • i love how this is the perfect blend of east and west. The traditional chinese architecture engulfed in western opera.

  • Bravo Pavarotti... nice smile!

  • I agree, this wasn't his best, but still no-one else can do that at 66. I'd be the happiest woman on Earth if I was there and hear him live, even if he's in his autumn, because I never heard him live. His facial expression at the end was like he really needs to do a hard "work" to sound like that at his age, but the very last smile, the gratification, it just makes me melt.

He really was the best tenor of this century.

  • well kraus sang much better even at the age of 70 but sticking to his own reportory, pavarotti did never kept his voice so thats why he cancelled so many of his perfomances nad lost his very top notes very soon.

even though he had the voice of someone gifted by god himself.

  • Well, I think it's only logical that a tenor, almost 70 years old, can not keep his top notes, but he sang because it was his life, and people never wanted him to leave, they wanted to hear him more and more. He gave his gift to all, an at his prime, he certainly was the best. I don't know about that Kraus guy, but this was Pavarotti's unique nature, he loved music so much, and people loved him, that he sang being so old and people wanted him.

  • hat and his voice are the reasons of his fame, that's the reason why he was the best.

  • well to say hi was the best is actuall y a matter of opinion, i have to admit that pavarotti had an enormous gifted voice and yes hi was brilliant however i have a different point of view when it comes to consider who is actually a real opera perfomaner, please see kraus vocal history and tecnique, but even though there were different.

  • ok, I will. I'm not saying that Kraus is bad or something.

As for my subjective opinion, Pavarotti was a Gos of opera.

You're just dealing with a really big Pavarotti's fan, you can not make me change my mind. ;)

  • When u listen to Pavarotti, u wish to sing like him even if it's not a marvelous presentation.

Pavarotti in his worst day is still better than anyone of us.

  • Unbeleavble that this man lived among us

  • when he smiles at the end I cry every time, every time, cry cry cry

  • Is it just me or is the band really rushing towards the end?

  • its just you

  • has anyone else noticed how slow his vibrato is here compared to normal? i think he looks like he was ill for this performance

  • Thats just the sign of a voice ageing. Its a remarkable performance for a man of 64 but at this stage of his career his voice was a shadow of it the brilliant voice it once was.

  • Pavarotti didn't really have that much loss to his voice with age. He was careful with his voice and his age did affect his energy, but his father maintained his voice long into older age. Pavarotti did loose his power but with his phrasing and incredible voice it really didn't matter. If he lived he would have sang for a very long time.

  • Calaf would be proud. This is gorgeous. And in China...where the setting of the Turandot took place...this was just moving. I'm in tears.

  • This is just priceless! Yes, the notes - he can't hold as long as before... but it's a medical fact that you lose air volume (lungs) as you age. For a 66 year old man this totally defies nature. And the look on his face, as he realizes that "he's done it again" - he's so proud of himself and happy (as I'm sure the audience was!) He is #1 forever, 66 or 36, his is the voice of a century.

  • In this performance, Maestro Pava was 66 years old. Clearly, the wear in his voice is discernable but he still sound good. The reason why he sings faster in this rendition is to cover the flaws in his singing (as compared to his younger years). Note that he cannot hold his breath not as long anymore. But at that age it is perfectly acceptable. No matter what, this is still is wonderful rendition.

  • He went through that a lot faster than he used to at that performance. What a difference ten years makes in the life of a tenor. He looked sick even then. You could see, though, a little glimmer in his eye right before he delivered the last note, like the old maestro. And his expression on his face when he finished, exactly like it was during the original at Carracalla. He really loved his art.

  • GENIO, por Dios, GENIO!!! Gracias, Luciano, por todo

  • me salute la potenza de la musica

    tante gratzi luciano

    god rest your soul

  • crying

  • It's so interesting to hear him sing this when hes younger, and then in this when he's older. His voice gets darker with age like great wine. RIp to the maestro!

  • finally... nessun dorma at the palace. this will be one of the best.

  • the whole ending, from the voice of the women, is just so emotional. easily as good as his other recordings. i loved it.

  • tears in my eyes. GREATLY MISS YOU MAESTRO.

  • The Maestro was 66 years old when he sung Nessun Dorma in 2001. While not his best rendition, it is still outstanding. The final note is still remarkably delivered. Most young tenors in their prime cannot even come close to his performance in the winter of his life.

  • He's ok.... heheheheh

When did god come up with the idea that was Pavarotti? Pretty good idea I reckon.

  • Maravilloso

  • R.I.P. MAESTRO!! THE BEST OFF AL!!

  • When I attempt to sing opera, or more precisely, "immitate" it, I have to try very hard, but to watch him......he looks likes he hardly breathes.....He will be missed, even by people that never heard him.

  • Please post the song Granada of this concert and the Brindisi, please!!!

  • bravisimo!!!!

    it makes me cry.

    luciano, is now a legend...

    and will not be forgotten

  • Complimenti maestro!

  • Unbelievable!!! It doesn't look easy for him to sing, and he doesn't sing his best, But it's still incredible. We love you, Luciano. Rest in peace.. from Latvia

  • Pavarotti 66.

    Great Great Great!!!

    Please more video!

    Thak you for exotic video.
