If the onlive code was advertised and offered, it'd be understandable but considering that it wasn't even known, nor advertised, its bogus gamestop caved and did not screw up. Square enix is at fault. Not gamestop.
Square Enix has openly stated that GameStop did have the right to do what they did and that the mistake falls on SqaureEnix. As for the "gift card" my friend is a manager at a GameStop and she told me that SqaureEnix is actually compinsating GameStop for every gift card they give out. SO really its sqaure saying sorry we fudged up and cost you a ton of business, we will try and help you get it back.

If you buy a game at Gamestop, open it before leaving the store, then change your mind and return it. They will give you "TRADE IN" credit. Their policy on back of receipt states that once package is opened it cannot be returned for full refund. It can be exchanged for SAME thing, but once u break the seal, it's USED. I personally love gamestop. They always have gr8 offers and trade in bonuses which I love. I traded 6 games thee other day and with the extra percent trade in for every 3 games and got 120 sumn dollars credit. It bought me a brand new NCAA 12 copy and a fully paid preorder of BF3 plus the wateva odd dollars credit I done had and have 35 paid towards uncharted 3. My gamestop is always on top of shit and really friendly and always has midnight releases

I work at Gamestop for money and my love of games. My store doesn't pull this crap since it doesn't sell PC games, but the higher ups should not have told its employees to do that. But please do not give crap to the people behind the counters. It's not their fault. They were ordered to do it or else they would lose their jobs. Gamestop/EB (I'm in Canada so F off) Is the best choose for console games. Steam is best for PC games and also for the people that don't know steam was made by valve and is the #1 online PC game seller it's easier and shit like this doesn't happen on it.

Do you really think they ordered the game like that? Let's be serious they are not going to order a game with a coupon for another company when they are getting into the digital content world, and if you don't know that games can be ordered in different ways (ie How different pre-order bonus's for different stores come with games). And a word to all haters bet you will apply at Gamestop when the "Now Hiring" sign goes up.

I work at Gamestop for money and my love of games. My store doesn't pull this crap since it doesn't sell PC games, but the higher ups should not have told its employees to do that. But please do not give crap to the people behind the counters. It's not their fault. They were ordered to do it or else they would lose their jobs. And personally, I'd rather work at Gamestop than live on the streets. But that's just me. Blame the managers and higher ups.

SquareEnix said that GameStop has the right to remove any content not involved with the game itself, such as a game manual and game disc, so they are not going to sue. OnLive I guess is not really moving to do anything at this point, but I guess GameStop at this part of the game is trying to make it up to fans so they don't retaliate and think they will never trust GameStop. GameStop has always had company policy regarding removing content that competes with their company. I think that is stupid

To those having mental breakdowns - Lawsuit - actually has nothing to do with the law. It is a civil action to gain relief for an alleged wrong. And for those of you cursing & name calling just relax. That behavior shows your immaturity and for those railing against young kids on this site should be ashamed of yourself. Gamestop did something that perhaps they shouldn't have and got "caught" - its more of a PR nightmare than a legal issue. So take a deep breath.
