As for Hazrat Aisha, we do not 'insult' her (well some extremists do) but are greatly opposed to some of her actions. wikipedia (shi'a view of aisha) generally sums it up quite well. It is quite difficult to say this to non-shia who regard Aisha very highly but her intentions were ill.

Peace you are confusing religion with the truth (deen). Religion can be as you say to be fair but I am speaking about deen (the real religion so to speak, the truth) is not. What is the truth is personal to you. My truth is not your truth. So go speak to Buddah, and the rest and find that which you think is truth. My point is do not say there is no such thing without proof. Try this: pick up your right hand and grab your nose. Straight forward that is the real religion
It gets you to your destination (deen/ultimate truth) in the smoothest way. Now try this: pick up your right hand, put it behind your head, crossing your left shoulder try to grab your nose with your right hand that is where you seem to be and thats why somethings dont make sense. (no offence, laughter is the best medicine.) You have made science your religion., and it clearly does not have all the answers. The truth (deen) has an answer for everything so make that your destination.
Science on its own has no morals (nuclear bombs etc) science can not explain the soul (the real you) or the purpose of life. Science compliments and is a tool to the ultimate truth. To say the Imams were not sceintist shows your sense of Justice. Science does not teach you what Karbala does, ie to give your life for others (humanity) or what love is. I refer you to Nahjul Balagha and Sahifa. To you your truth to me mine.
I just hope that you do not wake up finding out that I cared for your wellbeing more than your science did, when its too late to do anything. Peace.
One point of correction when I said Shia is the creation of Iran, I meant as a school of thought. Of course the followers of Ali existed, an so did the hatred of Moavieh. But Iranians eventually saw an opportunity and seized it.

In any case, it seems to me that you have no idea what natural or social science means, to then claim that J Sadiq was a scientist. Even if this statement was true, which is not, you can not logically deduce or conclude that religion is the truth. There is no association between the two, as there is no association between God and religion, given that religion is indeed man made.
I think Shia is the creation of Iranians in response to the intolerable pressures exerted to them at the time of Arab occupation. Arabs brought with them a tradition that was extremely harsh, restrictive and violent. Of course, to go back to Manism or Zoroastrianism would've been suicide, so instead they supported Ali (the opposition to Moavieh), creating an Iranian version of Islam which was more in line with Persian values.
Does it make sense on a cultural level for Persians to shun Persian leaders for 14 Arab ones? If they were making it up, makes sense that they would choose Persians as leaders and also those that were not oppressed & were in 'power'. @makesUquestion - It does make sense as we were politically conquered, but needed to somehow resist the Arabs culturally to maintain Persian identity as opposed to Arab, culture. Umayyads, tended to stress the primacy of Arabs amongst Muslims, so this was the best that was possible under the circumstances. In politics one sides with the enemy of ones enemy and this is exactly what Iran did and in the process resurrected itself once again under the Safavid. Power politics that all!

What I meant was that Iran found a way to make Islam (a religion that Iranians did not choose by choice but through Arab conquest) their own. @herndonboy13 Salaam awb. It is good they have an understanding prayer leader like yourself and feel confident to show up. Would sadly not be the case in many places, you make a refreshing change. Mixing with each other reduces barriers and misconceptions. If we can go to a football match together, we should be able to read a dua together. There are places where Shia's do not go to collective iftar, because they eat the date ten minutes after and are looked down at for this.
Yazid was not on the same moral grounds as Husayn. This is obvious. So why was Yazid Khalifa and not Husayn? That is why I am Shi'a, because I choose Ali over Muawiyeh and Husayn over Yazid. I am a Muslim, and I want the best of believers to rule our Ummah. I do not believe that might makes right, I believe right makes right.

@LieExtinguisher no we do not say the holy Quran is distorted, but that people often misinterpret it and come to faulty conclusions. As for Hazrat Aisha, we do not 'insult' her (well some extremists do) but are greatly opposed to some of her actions. wikipedia (shi'a view of aisha) generally sums it up quite well. It is quite difficult to say this to non-shia who regard Aisha very highly but her intentions were ill.

Hypothesis: if there is a god then nature is the creation of god.
Hypothesis: if nature is how god creates, then diversity is the overwhelming theme.
Hypothesis: if the overwhelming theme is diversity then religion is unnatural as it encourages homogeneity.
Conclusion: Religion contradicts nature, hence, contradicts God's tradition.

I think Shia is the creation of Iranians in response to the intolerable pressures exerted to them at the time of Arab occupation. Arabs brought with them a tradition that was extremely harsh, restrictive and violent. Of course, to go back to Manism or Zoroastrianism would've been suicide, so instead they supported Ali (the opposition to Moavieh), creating an Iranian version of Islam which was more in line with Persian values.

@makesUquestion - It does make sense as we were politically conquered, but needed to somehow resist the Arabs culturally to maintain Persian identity as opposed to Arab, culture. Umayyads, tended to stress the primacy of Arabs amongst Muslims, so this was the best that was possible under the circumstances. In politics one sides with the enemy of ones enemy and this is exactly what Iran did and in the process resurrected itself once again under the Safavid. Power politics that all!
