After Tet no South Vietnamese were willing to support communists. After Tet all the battles were fought between regular armies, US/ARVN against NVA. VC were only good at sniping, booby-traps and running away after firing a few shots. Phoenix program finished them off.

If you want to know the truth read We were soldiers once and Young about Iadrang our first major engagement with NVA, The First Battle about our first engagement with VC, the Elephant and the Tiger about the war in general. General Giap confessed to a French Film Crew NVA losses were 1.6 million dead, 3.5 million dead.

We also saw NVA drag their own wounded off the field with meat hooks while screaming in pain, yeah that was wonderful to watch, we laughed our asses off, what was best was the burned NVA, burned to charcoal with their burnt lips stretching over bare white teeth in a rotting smoking skull, oh yeah love those gooks, dead gooks.

I'm Vietnamese and hell, I'm proud of it. What I'm not proud of is the fact that the communists won back in '75 and made Vietnam a miserable place to live in.
However, the country has gotten better and more stabilized, but still...fuck communism. It never works, and there's so much proof to it. So for all of you who think that communism is a good thing - wake up. Nothing good has been accomplished by the communists.

@JohnFuckingLennon If U have the opportunity to come to Hue and talk to the people there, please do.They will tell you that what really happened.The truth was during the 1968Tet Offensive,there were so much collateral damages that both sides accused the other of political genocide.There were indeed misfiring into civilians,and in rare cases, purposely seizures and executions by NVA units, but in small scales and caused by soldiers who had lost family members by the Americans or their supporters.

After the battle those few soldiers had to face the military courts and were convicted.However,due to the nature of the war our side couldn't carry out all of the sentences nor leak this military intel into the public.But after the war,our military leaders,including general Giap,have all publicly apologized for the disobedient and illegal behaviors by those units. The american government send their kids to fight and die. They tell people they fight against communism but in 1974 they open relations with COMMUNIST china then in 1979 they give millions of dollars to support COMMUNIST pol pot and the khmer rouge, all only 4 years after vietnam war. The american government sent their kids to die then spit on the graves of their dead in 1979 by aiding 2 communist countries. Both sides killed civilians just like any war. But fact is VC killed more.

The VC was vastly made up by local militia including women and old people trying to protect their land from U.S army's attacks. Why would they want to kill their own neighbors and family? Have you ever heard of "search and destroy"? That's how the U.S soldiers killed all the "supposed Vietnamese Communism supporters",and not civilians.

@danielem16 You weren't there. We slaughtered the VC. The VC were manned by North Vietnamese after Tet because we killed them all off. After Tet no South Vietnamese were willing to support communists. After Tet all the battles were fought between regular armies, US/ARVN against NVA. VC were only good at sniping, booby-traps and running away after firing a few shots. Phoenix program finished them off.

@danielem16 I really hate to disillusion you but the VC were not a good fighting force unless they were manned by NVA which after 68 Tet they did.
The NVA however do deserve all our respect as a fighting force even though most ot their actions militariliy were against civilians and towns. I can't begin to tell you how they would shell refugee columns and destroy towns and kill all but when confronted they would fight well even though they died doing it.
