  • I like how he is dancing to his own music. swag.

  • 2:07 i thought "Oh no, they changed something in the matrix"

  • what is Jesse Eisenburg doing playing the violin?

  • I actually agree that it bothers me to watch him. I love listening to him, but I usually close my eyes if I'm watching him. As a string player, it also bothers me to watch him because it makes me uncomfortable. It's incredibly hard to play without being grounded and he sways so much I can't imagine he is very grounded. For most people, moving that much would interfere with their ability to play. That being said...obviously he's an excellent player and an exception to the rule!!

  • 4:19 theres a pencil in the guys horn! :P

  • @dalgib90 Ahahaha i totally skipped to that bit just to check it out...i love when ppl notice the little--or not so little--things in vid clips :p

  • look at that noob clarinetist at 1:16 he's all like... "no1 cares about me :'("

    ("

  • He plays with full of passion! Bravo!

  • BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ugh, what a gorgeous introduction. Beautiful tone.

  • artige.no!

  • 2:07 creeped the shit out of me ._.

  • @CroCoRo42 We're not all that bad.

  • @CroCoRo42 That's a huge generalization

  • Thought that the Decepticons where invading us at 2:07!

  • @Krant1980 damn son me too.

  • who's the conductor and orchestra? They are part of the musical equation too!!!

  • So good, even the Matrix can't handle it....

  • Guy never uses his fourth finger.

  • How old is he? Anybody knows?

  • @olupqa He's 44

  • The sound of a really good orchestra is really something to behold. Really quite remarkable.

  • I....know...kung foo?

  • This would be a wonderful piece to use as "music appreciation" in our school systems starting as early as Kindergarden.

  • He puts "rock" in his violin. So even romantic pieces of music remain fresh (solo parts). Terrific music played by terrific musicians.

  • @skissors2 You should see the awesome pencil holders designed for horns. ;)

  • You are the chosen one, Joshua 7:31

  • 0:24 I thought he was about to sneeze xD

  • Beautiful :)

  • the video is damaged.he and the piece are mighty

  • 240p, we meet again.

  • How could anybody dislike pure beauty ?

  • I just love this concerto!

  • So much competition now to be a classical violinist, check out all the really good violinists ! I like Joshua Bell a lot, in my opinion he gets a sound like the old masters.

  • Hoshua Bell is The one! I knew it!

  • holy crap at 2:09 i got the eff scared out of me because i was whereing earphones and then all the sudden.....

  • @ChoZoxKnightx oops i ment to spell it *wearing

  • Josh Bell moves like he does cos he has PASSION and he is in tune with the piece of music. He is NOT a robot and he is a genius. Its like he and the Violin are one. I love this guy. He makes the Concerto alive as if it could almost talk to you.

  • @mikey1970able Agreed! If you can't stand the moving around close your eyes and listen to the music. This guy is amazing and has studied with the best teachers around the world!

  • @lovelystrings

    Janine Jansen is better...

  • I just heard bell play the Glazunov with San Francisco. Sorry all you passionless music lovers, he is still tops for me.

  • I personally think Josh bell moves too much for me to take seriously and he takes too much liberty with rhythm. He cuts longer notes shorts cuz he's so "into the music." plus he just looks really uncomfortable playing violin. But my opinion is just my opinion. Just like there are people who don't like lady gaga but still love pop, I don't like Josh bell but I still love real music xD

  • What the fuck. Those glitches completely destroyed my high.

  • I think I saw this dude in the subway once.

  • @ChrisRokers they did do a test where he played some very advanced literature in a subway to see how much attention it would attract right before a concert in NY i think and had him dress as a poor man

  • @ChrisRokers You mean here?

    /watch?v=WC9IvjrgZ7I

  • @ChrisRokers that's because he was there! :)

  • @ChrisRokers dude, you probably did. I read an article about a survey he helped some organization to do. A survey about whether the human perception of beauty is affected by surroundings, fanfare, and etc. it said he played for 45 minutes and only a few people stopped to listen. it said the concerto he played was the he plays in concerts that cost 100$ per ticket

  • @kurobara28 it was a joke dude

  • @kurobara28 wow, man, joshua's really cool. There's a video of him too, only one person out of several hundreds that passed him stopped to listen. She stayed for about 15 minutes of the whole thing.

  • @ChrisRokers he performs at the subways in new york every once in a while. its surprising how many people don't recognize him.

  • @ChrisRokers yeah, it was an experiment for the Washington Post

  • CRAP! He shape shifted and nobody noticed!

  • 69 people are jealous that they're not joshua bell.

  • @AngelOfMusic144 I once did a master class with him on this song. He is a great guy - granted it was probably 10-11 years ago, but he was just hitting it big at the time.

  • @AngelOfMusic144 definitely not jealous, he moves around like he's having seizures on stage... although you don't want to be totally still up there cause that would look weird, he goes way overboard... way.

  • @rain2da1mental This kind of comment irritates the fuck out of me. Playing emotional pieces like this demands that you give yourself up and get lost in it entirely. Some people respond to it by "dancing" with the instrument, some with facial expressions, some just close their eyes and don't make it very obvious what they're experiencing... Music is not a visual art. If it bothers you, close your eyes and enjoy the music.

  • Get RAPED asshole. I should fucking sue your sorry ass!

  • I understand feeling the music, but sometimes I feel as if he needs to chill out.

  • This video never use to mess up... weird.

  • LMAO, that 2:09 part really scared the shit out of me because I had my volume at a pretty high level... with headphones -___-

  • HOLY SHIT OPTIMUS PRIME! A DECEPTICON! O_O

  • DUDE FIX THIS VIDEO. IT'S SHITTY AT SOME POINTS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just saw him at Lincoln Center. Amazing passionate piece, amazing violinist!

  • He plays that first note better than anyone.

  • This is a fantastic piece. I played this a few years ago, it is so fun!! This is an amazing performance!

  • I love how he moves! I could watch him play the violin all day.

  • @Chibininjamonkeys

I agree, I have become very use to how he moves, just so into his music. Love This Wonderful Man's violin playing. Virtuoso ...............How many could playing this piece like he does??? any of you???? I heard him play this piece in Milwaukee, March 2011.........beautiful ............too bad this video has that terrible crackling at a few spots but this is lovely music to listen to...God Bless you, Joshua Bell

  • he moves to much in weird ways.

  • im playing this as my Concerto for collage Auditions. i cant wait. i love this piece and it just speaks to my heart. This piece is the whispering in my soul

  • This is just amaizing!

  • anyone else not like his violin? its tone is not that beautiful or strong or soaring.

  • this is just wonderful..... I played this concert too like 8,9 or maybe 10 years ago?! :) I remember my violin teacher showing me how to do the right movements and everything... I was so young and didn't understood many things than, but now, listening again I find it wonderful...if I just had played it half like Joshua do... :)

  • massa

  • HOLY CRAP that scared the poop shoot out of me.

  • Haha lovely pencil in the horn at 4:18

  • @skissors2 LOL

  • @skissors2 hahahahaahahahahahahh! nice catch

  • @skissors2 Always have a pencil with you to mark your piece :]

  • justin bieber made 64 acount and dislike this..some people dont have any taste in misic!

  • Wonderful!!!

  • @dcho0196 I just dont really like his playing and i know what i like to hear and see, I think when I talk about what I like I know a lot just because its MY opinion. I dont care if you like it I just prefer other violinists compared to him.

  • thought i entered the matrix around @ 2:09

  • @gutierrv It destroyed my brain..

  • @gutierrv HAHAHAHA XD

  • @gutierrv it scared the crap out of me!

  • I Love Joshua Bell's playing......

He is touching my soul.......that is what music has to do......

  • He's no Sarah Chang, just not as powerful sounding.

  • who watches a video like this and then dislikes it? It makes no sense. "I hate talented people and beautiful music!"

  • when did people stop wearing that oh so classic suit?

  • OMG he's gonna kill us all 2:06

  • Oh my gosh, 2:09 almost made me pee my pants-I wasn't watching my compy, and then that noise just...WHAM. Scary as heck. O_O

Joshua Bell has a great sound and all, but I think he moves way too much, and I'm not particularly fond of his interpretation of this...oh well.

    Nor do I like the fact that the video scared the heck outta me. -__-;

  • Bravo! Brilliantly!

  • this shit is easy to play. wtf is he getting so much credit

  • @aznguy11111 Ha ha it is not easy to play. Yes, it is not the hardest concerto to learn, however, if you want to play it as well as him with his tone and musicality; I doubt you would even come close. Oh and also the fact that he practice about eight hours a day and is recognized as one of the top performers of this generation. He gets the credit because he has more than just notes and rhythms. So yes it is easy to play if you get just the notes and rhythm.

  • @fingerboardfrenzie guitar arpeggio shredding variations is harder than this.. that's why this is nothing to me..

  • @aznguy11111 ha ha ha ha ha the guitar is harder than the violin... funny....

  • @fingerboardfrenzie You think the guitar is HARDER the violin? The guitar was made, sir or madam, for people who need FRETS!!...muahaha muahaha

  • @outoftunefiddler no I am saying the violin is way way harder I'm a violin performance music major. I was mocking the boy who thinks violin concertos are not hard.

  • @fingerboardfrenzie Oooops.((sorreeeee)(grin)

  • @fingerboardfrenzie

    @outoftunefiddler

You can't compare two different instruments. But think about it like this.

-A violin's neck is at least half the size of a guitar's neck, meaning that all the notes are closer together.

-A violin is tuned in 5ths. A guitar is tuned in 4ths. Again, this means that the notes on a violin are closer together, making it easier to get to one another.

-When you have to do, say, a scale run on guitar, you can't just use one bow stroke. You pick every note.

  • @fingerboardfrenzie

The person who make the comment about violin concertos being easy is an ignorant prick. And again, you can't compare two different instruments. Being good at something, no matter what, is very hard and requires a lot of work.

  • @aznguy11111 According yo yer profile, man, you like "metal, basketball, soccer, sleeping". Sounds like ye fell off the turnip truck and hit yer head...)

  • @outoftunefiddler i like a few more things. :P

  • he cant play

  • @mydearestA Please, tell me you are joking.

  • Pure genius.

  • he does so many hard-trying faces but the sound is so crappy !

  • Can some explain what so special a 2:10?

  • @amirrotem the video and audio distorts and sounds like a transformer...

  • @amirrotem

Well on my pc it went very strange at that point, harsh lines on the picture and a strange high pitched noise for a few seconds !!

  • Joshua Bell's Version of this concerto is the best ive heard

  • Joshua Bell is AMAZING! Whoo!!!

  • @jason07605 -

look up the Sarah Chang version. It's amazing.

  • @13horseaholic

I saw Sarah Chang play this last week in London at the Southbank, such a wonderful live performance that seemed impossible to be bettered

  • AHHHHHHHHHH....... WHERE'S THE THIRD MOVEMENT!?! D:

  • I have heard Joshua Bell in live several times and he's a great violinist, he was my favourite until I heard to Nikolaj Znaider, now Znaider is my favourite, is marvellous, (I love Julia Fischer too)

  • MON DIEU quel cinéma !!! pauvre Bruch allez vite écoutez Perlmann Oistrack ou Varga

  • even after reading all these comments about 2.10 and expecting something to happen, it STILL scared the crap out of me. >.>

  • 2:10 is the ultimate revelation: Joshau Bell has extraterrestriel skills? His cephalo-artistic wavelengths actually pierced my inner ear and roasted 2% of my prefrontal cortex.

  • aw look at him go o:

  • 2:10 scare the crap out of me! LOL

  • comments from failed violinists. Hey buddy...if you were actually better than him you'd be on stage!! Get lost!

  • @marombadoSSA This.

  • dude, i played this when I was like, 2, psshhhttttt

    jk! joshua bell OTL

  • Joshua Bell is my hero! and all those 55 people who disliked this need to take a music class :)

  • wow... its like boxing fight, not violin concerto to me. all I want to say is toooooooooooo physical....Mike Tyson!

  • Joshu Bell is a DECEPTICON! Proof @ 2:09!!!

  • @w00h0012345 lol

  • @w00h0012345 thats a matter of the uploader sweety!he is best of the best even if his stick is broken!

  • @w00h0012345 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH you get a few extras because on this net book I had to put the speakers to my ear. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @w00h0012345 freaked me out like crazy

  • @w00h0012345 do you think we should give him the cube?

  • @w00h0012345 and 7:30 =)

  • @w00h0012345 its a failure in the matrix!!!

  • @brewjake hahaha you're right!

  • Technology can't handle Joshua Bell.

  • OMG, he really makes that Strad sing.

  • fucking christ.... Beware around 2 minutes, I'm going to need psychological therapy after that shocker.

Worse than that stupid winterrowd maze.

  • 2:09 yeaaaah matrix joshua

  • Yay my friend

  • What asshole was taking flash photographs?

  • LOL!!!!! 2:09 was the bomb!!! seriously i totally agree with RavenFlyingBackwards hehehehe!!!!

  • Unintentional rickroll'd DDDDDDX

  • This must be an indication that his virtuosity is indeed sent from a different planet.

  • He really has a good sound.

  • @Ceweno I'd rather listen to Bubba's flatulence than Bell's violin playing.

  • Boring music

  • Okay me and my friend are talking about how aliens are controlling us and they're going to kill us because we found it out and then I hear that motherfucking sound at 2:10 and my heart stops and I start crying. True story.

  • @supisto lmfao! That's just terrible. I can't even begin to imagine the fear you must have felt.

  • This is the best version of the Bruch violin concerto ! Joshua is doing it perpectly !

  • Bravo Mr. Bell! That was splendid! Especially after the slower part of the piece, his impeccable technique and heart showed! However, there's one thing that kind of bothered me in the beginning (as a matter of preference). He did these deliberate slides in what would be the first page of the concerto, and as a student, unless it's a "gypsy piece" or a fantasie, my teacher frowned upon sliding. In a Concerto like this one, I feel like sliding ruins the gravity and seriousness

  • @classifieds103 Sliding is fine in a Romantic concerto dood.

  • @mrwasbesonders no i know it's fine, but the very obvious and loud sliding he does take away from the ferocity and aggressive emotion of this particular concerto

  • @classifieds103 Frankly he doesn't actually slide that much. And when he does it is actually pretty tasteful. He is a great artist. And as for "ferocity and aggressive emotion" (that personally I would call passion and intensity) well applied portamento can only add to the mood.

  • @classifieds103 sliding a lot is old fashioned, but i like that style. it's personal preference i guess. if it's overdone or done in the wrong places it can sound really cheesy, but i'm sure josh knows what he's doing!

  • love this part!!! at 3:03

  • I almost pee in my pants at 2:10

  • THANK YOU ANTIVIRUS FOR PROTECTING ME AGAINST DECEPTICONS. ha those fools

  • Heard and saw him perform this last night at the concertgebouw in Amsterdam, he was fabulous and got standing ovations.

I think that he´s sharing a first place with Kyung Wha Chung in my favorites list.

    greetings from Amsterdam

  • Happy Birthday Max Bruch, You rule bro.

  • At 7:28, he turns into the Jolly Green Giant.

  • those 50 people who dont like this hate Transformers.

  • at 2:10 there's a glitch in the matrix!!!!!!

  • holy JIZZ!!!!!!!! I had my volume barely turned up then this loudthing shook the house and dropped my pencil holder and smashed my knee on the desk!!!!!1

  • oh my gosh. i had the volume up all the way at 2:10. almost peed my pants..

  • Yup 2.10 scared the shit out of me.
