  • √ saw it!

  • Nice video. 5*'s and a favorite.

  • Nice to hear the engines isn't it Ry? We don't hear them much around our town. MBTA is mostly non-electric territory so it makes sense that they use diesel.

  • Awesome 5/5!

  • Look at 1:10. A bird escaped being railroad kill by inches.

  • Excellent video.

  • √ My dad was a departure foreman for the T years ago.

Did you take the T up from PVD?

  • nice stuff. 946 still sounds like shit >:-)

  • LOL "fucker" hahah , what was that all about ? When do u think the MBTA will get Electric Locos?

  • never, thats not even possible.

  • Why not , they will have to get Electric lines like some time in the near future.

  • no, no NO! NO! NO NO NO NO NONO! ITS NOT POSSIBLE!!!!

  • Whatever , your not making any sense , so just shut up!

  • Ok I'll try to make some sense out of what zink didn't. MBTA doesn't have any plans to purchase electrics. This was made very clear about a year ago when they officially purchased new MP36 engines. I think the reason they're sticking with diesel power is that it's easy to transfer the equipment to all their lines. I still wish they would get electrics though it would make their Providence service faster.

  • Its true they want equipment that's compatible on all of their lines but I did notice that at forest hills there was a half installed (hanging above tracks but not in place) catenary wire. Perhaps they are considering Electric MU cars that can be used as regular coaches on other routes and as an electric train set on the Providence Line. Or dual mode locomotives like some of the new ones NJ Transit owns could be an option. If they are ever going to buy electrics those would make sense.

  • Also I'm pretty sure the attempt to purchase he MP36s fell through as did the attempt to buy used GO Transit locos. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

I did notice the MBTA had posted on their website a few months ago they had reqested permission to buy new more environmentally freindly (electric?) locomotives.

I belive they are pretty much out of money right now but maybe they've gotten more I don't know. It would be cool to see some new equipment.

  • MBTA bought MP36 engines?!! When are they being built/delivered?

  • I have no idea probably within a couple years.

  • Dude you gotta give people a reason behind a yes or no answer if you're gonna answer at all.

  • Ya rly.

  • Yea that was me! I was angry about the engineer not giving any horn! And I hate that bell!

  • awesome nice k5la hron show

  • You got some cool Amtrak crews up there! 5*****!

  • no, those are jetblu crews.
