remember him saying what's grey and comes in pints? was silent in club, people pondering the answer and he said 'elephant'...I got it and a girl at the other end of the room did, was just swallowing my beer and it all shot out..he was before his time RIP
In response to Dave Passeys comment below, I agree, truly fantastic times and memories on Saturday nights in the Wakefield Arms, and in County Sligoe, Ireland with Wenty, Martin Fox, Jackie Cooper, You(Dave Passey), Dave Milsom. Alan Musgrave on Bass guitar.
I played trumpet with Frank's bushmen most of the sixties with Martin Fox , Sam Ellis , Cossy , Dave Milsom , Reg , " danny" ,Brian Goldsborough and many more including on occasion a male stripper from carlisle. It was surreal . Things like a twintub washing machine would be wheeled across the stage for no reason while someone would be singing a serious song. Bauln Lane WMC happy times . Ned Websdale
To see and hear this video,to me,evokes so many memories.Frank Hepworth was an "unknown" star in his own right, from the early 50's to his death in the 2007's Gone too are Milsom and Cossy.
I played in Heppy's band throughout the 1980's along with Jacky Cooper,Dave Milsom,Alan Musgrave, and tony Costello.Packed houses every show particularly the Wakefield Arms.Truly fantastic times....Dave Passey
