I remember recording this theme from my television into a cassette tape (yeah, I'm old!) so I can listen to it over and over again without having to turn on the SNES. Sweet sweet memories!!!
@animeGOexpertrookie Yeah... FFVI also out on the Wii's Virtual Console, where I picked this eternal classic. I might get V and IX on the PlayStation Store.
@th3azscorpio Well I think FFIX's is just as good. Listen to the FFIX OST for a week (or just play the game) and you'll be amazed of it's awesomeness.
@D4mnYouSir yeah, final fantasy IX, even though it was really unpopular had a great soundtrack. also my other favorite ffVII had an INCREDIBLE soundtrack so out those two along with ff6 were the best orchestrated to me.
@th3azscorpio FFVII had a great OST. If you return to a village/town in that game you'll feel like home. One winged angel and Cloud's theme are also really memorable melodies.
Nobuo was at his top during FFVI-FFIX. Of course all other FF had a handfull of awesome tracks each (ex:FFX's At Zanarkand, FF's Town), but FFVI-FFIX's soundtracks had only songs you would remember.
@D4mnYouSir You know, most people don't understand that FFIX, both as a game and a soundtrack, were meant to resolve the themes of all the previous games. That's why it uses so much material and music from the other games: it was two composers, one musical one technical, taking everything they loved about their creations to create something new, using the older themes in variation and adding original material as well.
FFVI's soundrack does the same thing with its themes in a self contained way
@Lyaso FFVI's soundtrack mostly contains leitmotifs of main pieces in the game. For example, omen is heard in the final battle. That's not a resolution, but it's a leitmotif. Terra's theme is heard in many different places but still, it's a leitmotif. FFIX wasn't composed to resolve anything. It was just that there were LOTS of references in the story so they might as well...
@th3azscorpio Apparently, Square Enix said they are considering both an FFVI and an FFV remake on the 3DS. Those two games, I would love to see in sparkling 3D.
@DanielL5583 where did you see this great news? Well for FF6, I would be more happy on the Wii U, PS3 or/and Xbox 360.. As it deserve the best quality remake currently available..
IMO with all the money they put on FFX-2, they should have made a proper remake + new stuff and evolved gameplay(but not too much)
Because if it's just for a "basic" remake, the Snes game is still good enough for me..
@dbkai75 I don't remember where I found this news, nor do I know if Square Enix even confirmed it. But it would be amazing if it were so.
I assume that they'll do what they did with Final Fantasy IV (DS version), with voice acting and video cutscenes. Either way, I would like both games on PS3/XBOX/WiiU, or Vita/3DS. Though, for XBOX I'm not one to associate it with JRPGs.
On the other hand, Final Fantasy X is getting a remake coming out early next year for PS3 and Vita.
when i had the game for the first time, i was reading epilogue and heard this song... i mean, my fingers were killing me to press start to play but i cannot stop reading those words.... that is just the best intro made for any ff game. the other are just copies with a lot of SFX
@medfoe I played the opening to this and the piano solo in high school, as an intro for Dancing Mad -- instead of playing the bit of Catastrophe like in this, it went directly into the first part of Dancing Mad. We had the real orchestra but I had to add the choir as the duet voice on my PSR-295 (church organ as main for this section). I'd love to try it again with professionals (or at least, people who aren't slackers). :(
@medfoe i know its a late comment, but it check out Symphonic Odysseys. (Nobuo was there, conducted by Arni Roth.) And i was there too. It was so amazing to hear it live.

screw ff7, ff6 needs to be remade and its soundtrack needs to be orchestrated. ff6 had the best soundtrack.

In a perfect world, Final Fantasy VI would be 3D.
It would be on the PS3 or PS4 whatever is out when the game is done
Complete voice acting. I don't have to go to town and talk to a miscellaneous npc for words.
Kefka's laugh remastered.
Aria di Mezzo Carettere available in English, Italiano, Japanese, Français, and Esperanto.
New Game+ so we can train all the characters to their full potential every story...
In a perfect world.
