What a wonderful video this is! Your family is beautiful, your child actors are superb, and the videographer is a real pro who knew to tickle our eyes with rich colorful visuals of something rarely seen anymore, a happy family!
hey it's me again. I've learned ALOT more about lenses and camcorders and stuff like that. The HMC150 is a little out of my league in price range. I've decided to go for a Canon Vixia cam. I also just bought a cheap steadycam called the "MiniDV Steadycam", it's great for the price.
I have a question though. What kind of lens did you use for the walking scene at 1:14 ? I'm guessing you used a wide angle lens?
Hi sonicballer8888, great buy on Canon, they are pretty good. The MiniDV Steadycam, is that the one from ebay at US$99.95? If it is, 2 things on that,1-Dynamic Balance, see in youtube /watch?v=jhY7k64hYA4 and 2-operate w 2 hands.
I didn't use any wide angle as HMC150 is with a 28mm lens in 35mm equivalent. So it has a wide lens built in. Normal cam is usually 46mm or more.
I haven't bought the canon yet, but i will when I get the money.
Yes, it's that one from ebay. It does have Dynamic Balance just like that (Although the mounting plate on the top can get in the way when you move the gimbal too far up.
And It can be operated with 2 hands when you place two fingers directly under the area where the gimbal meets the pole.
I uploaded some test footage to my blog, but I wasn't satisfied with that because it wasn't well balanced. I'm going to upload more tommorow.
Nice video,, I want to know how much did the camera and the whole letus set up (plus mount and rails if any) weight? and what kind of steady cam system did you use.
I cannot remember how much he whole things weight. But if just the camera ( about 4.4lbs) plus Letus Elite and the rails, the Pilot is good enough. I did not utilise this a lot as I do not have a remote follow focus. If with a RFF and other accesories, it may be pushing towards the edge, or maybe over the weight capacity of the Pilot.
i just read the description, and it said you used a 35mm lens adapter. i have heard of that. but what do lens adapters do, and what effect does the amout of millimeters have to do with the video?
Search in YouTube "Philip Bloom" and locate his video on "Letus Extreme Demonstration Video". It should give you a good idea. The downside, it is not cheap.
I captured at 24p but I edited to 50i. My computer is not up to specs to use 24p NLE software.
Why the 200? If P2 intended, I would go for the 170. 150 24p is true and have the same optics as 170, only different in recording format. Get the Elite, the back focus and the better achromat lens helps.
Forget about Merlin, even with the arm and vest. It is not flexible enough for such system. Don't get me wrong, Merlin is fantastic, but for handheld camcorders and handheld only.
MAn thanx a lot! But we need to shot some action shots.. Its for Movie making that I need it.. So thats why I need the Merlin and true 24fps.. The Flycam has some side to side glitches.. But the Merlin is solid.. Even when running like grazy.
Yes I just notice that the P2 is $1,900.00 LOLOL... nuts.. SD is cheaper and easy to replace.. $279 SD-32GB
(why use a Q? I ask) then they want you to say ching haha! This is a major turn off for me.. sucks..
(Walk) look, you do not pronounce the L.. what the heck, why is it there then.? aarrg! sonds like "wok" to me.. Wok the dog pleez hahahaha! get it? English suck.
This I agree, the ch makes more sense that q. But as said, the English way q as in "queue". But in Latin, q is not pronounce as "queue". From a Spanish speaking background, isn't it q as in ch in Latin. This I am just guessing, no? I speak Bahasa Malaysia too, and our words are Latin based pronounciated. Is Spanish the same?
but Q has a KU sound, the sound in English is Kiu.
So, Please,(qing) when I read sounds king.
There are very dificult words in Chinese that you have to combine letter.. like (Tsu) you start with the T sound and rapidly mix it with the s sound and then with the u shot sound.. Also the (MAN) character is a tricky one too..
how you sound this character 的 ??
They wrote (de) but the guy sounds nothing like that.. The audio quality sucks too..
Ok, $3k is a lot of money, but if you compare to other brands or even Panasonic other models of this class, it will be $5k, if not, at least $4k and above. That doesn't mean that cheap cam will produce lousy production. I saw you reels and editing. Great job!!! And what, you are 15? I salute to that.
It is always the singer, not the song. But with a good microphone, it will definitely helps.
Yup, the kids are big fans of Naruto, the gloves, the headband etc. The elder son also pointed to me he wore the headband upside down, haha, not that I noticed. They are also big fan of Dragon Ball, Ben 10 bla bla bla, so many of them. I am sometimes surprise the names of the characters they can remember. They are also fans of yours and they love your edited videos.
Music matched well. Good composition. I like the last scene, warm feeling. If certain same scene transition effect can be changed to cross fade to continue the story, eg 1.42 & 1.48 min, it will be an excellent job. Well done.
Keep practicing the SteadiCam !!

he shot from 1:40-2:00, is that still with the adapter attached? it looks a bit clearer and with wider DoF.
great footage!
WillBraden 2 years ago
Thanks!!!
1:40-2:00 was done without the adapter. The camera was sitting on the Steadicam Pilot and the weight of the adapter is too much for it.

WOW can you give a demo at 24fps....??
Love when the kids are standing and you are testing your aperture.. 2:10 hahaha Awesome..
I'm buying the HVX200a but if I can get away with this one and I can shoot at tru 24fps I'll save 2k and get me a Merlin and a Letus Extreme.
Bless your Family... thats all we have..
Buying this Sunday so hit me with some info about the AG-HMC150. is it tru' 24fps or is it faking it..??
