  • *tear* She looks so adorably sad. *u*

  • it makes me shudder !!!!!!!! LOVE it!!!!

  • sou brasileiro e estou ouvindo uma das canções mais bonitas!

  • respect

  • Wow! Robin's a bad ass bass player. Vica versa with Simon.

  • 26 years old here... and am an ardent music lover.. esp... the 80s and today :-) ... i've listened to lots of the the ultra-cool new waves.. JOY DIVISION, GANG OF FOUR, THE CURE, THE SMITHS, TALKING HEADS-- the list goes on.... AND... COCTEAU TWINS seem to be an exclusive and deeply eccentric band that NO F*****N modern band/ any band have dared to emulate solely because these guys are inimitable.... and F*** cranberries lolzzzzzz!!!

  • @elizmanandhar They are unique but wouldn't have existed without Siouxsie. Siouxsie had 5 albums when they started. They just evolved that sound.

  • @elizmanandhar cranberries rock and what do you know anyways? 26 bah u were in 1985 and a teen in 2000 u mnissed it all dude britnbey on kabbalah matthewshepard madonnalicious u have no wisdom to chat up anything from this era

  • @KabbalahWestCoast - dude, sorry! yes, i just think the comparisons aren't fair though! btw, i did like the cranberries at some point...

  • @elizmanandhar you sir, rule...the smiths?SPOT ON

  • @TheVascoPaiva ---- music a gaping hole without THE SMITHS.... GO JOHNNY MARR... GO MORRISSEY!!!!

  • though they are not nearly as great as the cocteau twins, i suggest you check out a new band called Sleep∞Over. It's definitely worth checking out!

  • I obsessively, profoundly and thoroughly admire Liz Fraser. Not much else to say.

  • When she sings this the hair on the back of my neck stands up, it's an incredible sound.

  • dammit, we dressed cool in the day...

  • simply the best

  • The chorus of this song, makes me instantly close my eyes, its so magical...

  • i saw the original transmission on TV ,still mindblowing !

  • it sounds like moonlit snow

  • true talent. amazing guitar sounds, unreal ( & in flippin tune ) vocals, how great was the 80"s ???!! how shit is music now ?

  • very wonderful group! they are original,I love them, the sunday, the smiths,if you pay attention to the sundays they are like cocteau and smiths......very good

  • Wow--this Video is a treasure ( i swear i didn't intend the pun you are thinking of!)--you can tell it's from the 80's, maybe close to when this came out.

  • nice, funny. But why is she wearing grandma cloths

  • Is that robin playing bass? And simon on guitar? looks that way to me!! Cheers

  • You know this band was influential in that they actually invented a genre - what became know as "shoegazing" or "dream pop" in the US.

  • Liz was and still is remembered as true artist, not for mainstream...but thats better...she's a true goddess...

  • Is it just me, or are Robin and Simon playing each other's roles??

  • @Criddington yes, they often change to not get bored. simon said once. in eggs and their shells, simon plays the guitar a robin the bass.

  • Found Treasure on vinyl today, shit is so cash

  • Cool hair, bro.

  • so true...great band...so elegant and original

  • is robin playing a jazzmaster?

  • Dig this tune, cool band!

  • Does anyone know why simon and robin appear to have swapped instruments for this performance?

  • robins playin bass =)

  • simon plays fiddle

  • I still remember the first listenneded to the CT. It was this song, on Treasure Album. I could't believe that was a real voice. I could'n believe that mere mortals could do this music. Now, 15 years later, I still strongely believe that this is the best band ever.

  • The REAL Heavenly Voice =)

  • so good

  • God, from the 1:56 mark on, the self-induced echo is phenomenal!!!

  • thankyou that makes me proud to be British

  • my first introduction to the band....and never been the same since....come back liz you were the best x

  • brilliant!!

  • OH, LIZ! - YOU ARE SO LOVED!!!!!!

  • Everybody know how talented is Liz but she is also soooo cute !!

  • This is great! What year is this from?

  • goddamn I miss vhs! I'm waiting for vhs similation effects in Final Cut Pro

  • Nice. Live CT was impossible to find just a few years ago.

  • my favorite song by the cocteau twins...cool live version to boot...

  • Nice shit man ! I remember this in the day ! ! rocked Me !

  • Comment removed

  • Wait is that Raymonde playing guitar?

  • @brajtnerinjo yes. robin and simon often swapped instruments, in the studio and live

  • love this band! Years later this is still one of the songs I listen to most.

  • Well done.

  • buena musica,buena letra , excelente voz = perfecto.

  • great song, a fave from way back!. love the voice , love the music. a few degrees of separation : cocteau twins>harold budd> bill nelson, who is still making music as dreamy as this>>>>>>>>>>

  • Spot the deliberate mistake.

  • Withooooout a Doubt, a Doubt, a Douawgggghhhhhbt! Love It, they are perfect!

  • I wish I paid more attention to this band in the 80s. Her voice is amazing ! !

  • noone makes music like this anymore

  • no one will ever make music lie this again!!!

    Make the most of it.

  • No one made music like this before or since - totally unique - ever crap band on earth is reuniting - why can't this amazing band do it.....please.

  • Can you imagine if some little ethereal waif came wandering on stage and sang this on X Factor! Simon Cowells face would be a picture! "But I cannot understand what you are saying my dear, can you not do Lady Gaga." God save us from the X factor.

  • try múm's green grass of tunnel. that song always reminds me of this.

  • @enriquemoon there are shoegazing bands but they're quite underground, you just dont hear about them but it just people have to find the right clubs where those bands come from.

  • @enriquemoon yeah man. There is only one cocteau twins . Their sound is completely unique.

  • @enriquemoon The Cocteau Twins were the -only- ones who made this music lol

  • I love this song, her voice is so beautiful and and so patronizing at the same time.

  • sooo beautiful.

  • Liz F...one of the most original and unique vocalists of the post punk era.I listened to them back in the day of black spiky hair and still listen to them now.Heavenly stuff.

  • wow! unbelievable! so bummed I never got to see them live..

  • Superb! thanks for posting

  • My god she was amazing..

  • I didn't know Robert Smith and Martin Gore had a project going!!

  • LMAO that is so funny

  • I used to spend hours trying to work out what words she was singing. You have no idea how good and relieved i felt when i read that she often sings sounds that she thinks go well and fit in with the music, not words...

  • She usually used real words (She said she was being "lazy" on Blue Bell Knoll, however), but they were pulled from different languages.

  • Mexicoo cocteau twins is the best of the best!! lo mejor de lo mejor!!

  • The Mexicoo Cocteau twins were disbanded last month after lead singer Manuel Gonzalez died after contracting swine flu. The government's chief medical officer, Sir Liam Donaldson, said he had underlying health problems and that the public shouldn't be unduly worried.

  • phenomenal.

  • This song is/was NOT live.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes.

  • It is. It has a backing track, but guitar, bass and vocals are live.

  • @wormwood67 yes it was

  • Don't make things too literal & easy to understand. You'll last longer. Don't look up the lyrics on Google.

  • This is the first Cocteau song I ever heard, and at the time it was one of the best songs I ever heard. Since, I've heard at least 20 songs from this band that I like more. For 2 years back in the 90's they literally were all I listened too.

  • Does any body have other video? i dont speak english good. I dont ever seen this video before. I had it only on old tape, and i cry always, when i listen it..:))dont know why.....:) I like ,and i mean it is forever

  • sexiest eyes ever, the musics not bad either, lol

  • sexiest ? notbad , but stereolab french disko when she says f--k yumm

  • The Cocteau Twins remind me of when I lived in London in 1986. I used to plug them in on my walkman as soon as I climbed on board the coach to Newcastle at Victoria Station and for about 5 hours would play their tapes continuously and just get lost in this beautiful atmospheric music.

  • I totally ubnderstand.. I did Cocteaus and then The Sundays, a bit of Bowie then bugger off to work.. It was absofuckinlutely wonderfuckinful..

I so miss those carefree years.. Government is a bastard, I hate being a minister...

  • lol

  • You twat...i nearly pissed myself when I read that...:)

  • Lol.. How'd u know I was a twat? U been talking to my mother?

  • BWF Sabian...it was in the papers mate;)

  • You made me smile...

  • this is marvelous!! Been a fan since '83 but i've been in a coma musically for many years-i'm back!! Esto es maravilloso!!

  • Buen video, a los fans mi mail is jraulbuelna@hotmail com

  • when you think about a band that make thier own kind of expression and their own unique fingerprint of music..then you must be talking about CT.Ethereal and Immortal combinations of melody and rythm. The most amazing thing about them, they are NOT pop music, they don`t make albums to sell zillions but instead they make PURE ART from their souls, songs that will haunt you for decades and decades....myself a fan since early mid 80`s.Alice, Ivo,

  • it really makes me angry when you watch all these shitty reality tv shows and watch these talentless idiots getting there bit of fame when talented people like our liz from up the road in grangemouth got fuck all. aaaaaahhhhhh!

  • Not just talent, Liz had creativity and originality.

  • @djacnotdc What do you mean Had?

  • I'm with you guys ;)

  • @NMillar917 i think the cocteaus and liz got what they wanted, it's not true to say they got fuck all. they refused to appear on top of the pops, they didn't want the audience that reality tv show "stars" get. you can't judge success by that measure i don't think. they didn't compromise themselves for a dollar, and i think as a result they got a more appreciative and thoughtful audience. it's just a shame that the masses prefer mediocrity over real talent.

  • @NMillar917 Anything manufactured just to make the network money is fucking terrible, because it's put people who watch that churned fucking nonsence in a state of having a lazy imagination, X factor is fucking depressing cause it always put's me in a place of nostalgia, i want all this talent back to wake everyone up out there and to piss away all that untalented wank out there! so many band's back then would rape the groups of today!

  • @NMillar917 The Twins have never been even remotely copied or even derived from. They were truly in their own realm. We'll never see anything like them again in music. Too bad for today's youth: they simply don't know better and will never. :'(

  • @MrEkshin I agree, even as one of today's youth (17yo). A lot of my peers remark that the Twins are okay, and that's about it; showing them things like Ivo or Carolyn's Fingers or Athol-Brose causes no stir. However, my older friends (35+), because love them, because they happen to like REAL music.

So, if I ever happen to stumble across a vocalist remotely near Liz, I'll definitely start a similar project. Their should be more music like this.

  • @Kikaruu You're 17? wow. i'm happy you like the Cocteau twins. I came across them around 25 years ago and never thought it possible that a 17 year old in 2010 could be interested in them. Try their early stuff such as "hitherto" and their other early 80's stuff.

  • @PlazaMoon Oh wow; I'm actually listening to that EP right now (Sunburst and Snowblind). I think the earliest that I love from them would be Garlands, where Lorelei and Ivo (!!) were on. I like the feel/texture of those more than, say, Heaven or Las Vegas, but I like the feelings/mood of their later works, when their technique was cemented, and their sound, pristine. I mean, all of their stuff is auditory gold for me, but once technology evolved to clearly record them, they really shone.

  • @Kikaruu Good for you my friend. Sunburst and snowblind is a great record. I'm not sure i agree with you about technology having improved the Cocteau sound though (but each to their own opinion) - Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde always had a very specific and visionary approach to the production of the music. Anyways, I'm glad you love their music. Keep on truckin!!!!!

  • @Kikaruu Ivo and Lorelei are from Treasure, not Garlands. Still, I agree that I like treasure more than Heaven or Las Vegas, though I still adore the later anyway.

  • @AJRoman Ack! You're right, I meant Treasure; sorry about that.

  • @Kikaruu It's cool. :) Anyway, I'm like you, I'm 26 and I never really got to know the Twins during their time, though I've been a fan of them for years now. I absolutely hate the total lack of emotional expression of today's pseudo-musical garbage, where it's nothing more than a vehicle for commercial success and image promotion. I think the band actually hit their peak early (Head over Heels and Treasure), but never lost their form until Liz and Woody broke sentimentally, in the 90's.

  • stupid britney and plastic money madonna should learn some from her voice (as all the dinsey idiot girls just twisting the youthness mind), more tlaent alnd less tons of publicity and for-idiocy-minded-ones-gossips

  • OH MY GOD!!

  • Liz FRaser.

Nice Song...

  • She can sing just as well live as on the album. Very nice! They all look a wee bit strange, though. Not much on stage presence, eh? XD

  • 1:57 to 2:50, I could just loop that over and over... sigh

  • haha, really cute isnt it? she makes a birdie sound *-*

  • goodness she's as cute as the song is! love this.

  • I love their music, have heard their best material, but I think they would benefit from having a drummer when live

  • me, pretentious?

  • it like a door to another brighter dimension.

  • it's so good it's beyond anything new...

  • Liz Fraser - the 80's Yma Sumac...

    ...and that's a compliment!

Incredible style and range in her voice - thanks for sharing.

  • the music excellent, but the hair they used to have :P hehe but the music is genial

  • Hope they do'nt EXPLODE ...

  • WOW La Liz those eyes, that mouth

    Amazing!

  • amazing,

  • Robin came to Lima some months ago and captivated all of us! Liz and Simon, YOU'RE WELCOME TO PERU!

  • oooohhh....wouldn't it be such a treat if they would come to SA sometime...the band are most welcome to shack up at my place and have all the bubble-bath in the world...

  • Great track.

  • wow you're witty, not.

  • damn! remind me when i had to rewind my cassette to listen and listen this song! 80's forever!

  • Elizabeth Frasier is somethin else.

  • awesome. this is such an amazing song. very cool to see them play it live.

  • It is. I'm not convinced they were a good live band - that's cool - not everything has to be, but yes, this is a tingling rendition

  • Heavenly gorgeous transparent music, alien voice of Liz Frazer! But the video and sound quality really sucks :(((

  • I think the shitty sound quality is pretty cool, it just makes the song sound like it's filtered through a sheet of steel, or like Liz with the Brainbombs as a backing band.

  • sweet....charming voice,thx 4 posting!:)

  • I love this song for various reasons. that being that...I have been luckey enough to see Elizabeth & the clan. In chicagio, with friends and the one I will always love the most. M .Dempsey. If you close your eyes? It will come to you. P.S. Loreli and Carolyn's Fingers. aswell.

  • she dont like it -- always listen instrument players

  • LOVE forever cocteau twins

  • i so love this song. treasure is my second favourite album. she is so sweet live

  • their best song, i luv it so much :D

  • just some of the best music ever

  • As asked by a fully paid-up member (my neice) of the Cocteau Twins Fan Site, Liz replied "I was off my face. I still don't know what that one was about.."

The woman was on a perma-fucked dreamstate..

  • give the drug manufacturer the Nobel Prize then!

  • Bien, muchas gracias! me encanta escuchar grupos nuevos. Gracias por la recomendacion :)

  • Tambien bandas como Mogwai son buenas, y hablando de talento local (En NJ) deberias checkear Anthroapologie y Rose's Devotion.

  • muy postpunk

  • This has always reminded me of an old showtune:

'Have you heard, it's in the stars

Next July we collide with Mars?'

  • File under: great fucking performance!

  • God,they were good!

  • That thing she does with her throat in places is amazing. It sounds like some bird call. She did that a lot in her early performances.

  • excellent =)

  • Absolutely top Cocteaus performance! A bit on the industrial side... and Liz's hat is just fab!

  • excellent - no drummer!

  • Im pretty sure simon Raymonde is playing guitar in this song, and robin guthrie is playing bass

  • I love the guitar tone, I have no idea how he gets that sound.

  • It's a shame about the sound quality but it's an amazing song! I never understood why the band hated Treasure, it's one of the greatest albums I've ever heard.

  • They hated Heaven or Las Vegas too.

    I could never understand it.

I guess its a certain sound they wanted to bring out that failed intheir eyes with those 2 albums

  • REALLY? Treasure and Heaven/Las Vagas are two of my fav albums from them.... that's kinda sad... they were the two loved by critics as well i think....

i never understood why critics didn't like blue bell knoll... i think the songs on there are as pretty as ever.

  • beautiful!!!

  • Their music is so sweet. Voice, guitar, music, it's as close to perfect as I ever want to hear.

  • Absolutely stunning. Beautiful.

  • She's cute and she sounds like an angel. Is marriage out of the question?;>

  • i just melt.her cooing completes me
