i saw your vehicle at maryborough and rear wheel steering seemed very inapropriate, your seemed to roll a fair bit. what do you belive the benefits of rear wheel steering is?
The advantages are numerous. Much lower frontal area (almost half of some vehicles) because of no chain going to the rear and therefore lower seating position. Lower friction due to significantly shorter chain. Faster wheel changes because of no deraillier. We only rolled once un-assisted. ie, we have on-board video evidence of being deliberately hit and rolled at least 3 times, including once under yellow behind the RACV truck.
We didn't train in the vehicles 20 hours per week. That would have killed the 12 year old's..!!. They trained approximately 5 hours per week in the vehicles for the 5 months prior to the event. Plus other personal fitness and school training.
What I said wasn't meant as an insult to the kids abilities-I'm actually amazed of what they are capable of in a vehicle that clearly has so much potential. They are fitter then our whole junior hybrid pedal/petrol team; no joke. It's a fantastic achievement really, incredible!. I wish our hybrids has as much potential as your FWD vehicles-some of us do train 20 hours a week but the vehicle just wont compete. Put these guys in a hpv and different story.
I've Never Heard of a race like this ever befor? So my Question is :: Whats it about & why do they do this type of Racing?

I'd be interested to know the capabilities of this vehicle with crazy 20hr training a week cyclists/hpv racers. That'd be awesome.

No offence taken. The whole program is such a buzz for the kids. It is a shame they then cant go onto the 24 hour in senior school.

Yes, drive is throught the front left wheel and rear steer.
