  • what's the difference between shinto ryu and shorin ryu karate?

  • Does anyone know of any relation to Soryu Karate to this style? Michio Koyasu (1925-2005) was the founder. Joe Alverado brought Soryu to Austin Texas in the early 60's. Joe trained Chris Lopez (8dan), who trained Jesse Lussier (7dan) who trained me (1dan). Anyone have any idea?

  • Cant tell what Shorin Ryu this is. I know its not Matsubayashi, or Kobayashi.

  • @ShorinRyuRonin No such thing only different interpretation. Ko bayashi (hayashi) =small forest; Matsu bayashi=pine forest; Sho bayashi ("RIN' is another way to say hayashi) =small/young forest. Ryu translates to mainstream school of thought (which everyone's is different). So your handle means "Small forest mainstream school of thought Loaner. You must study "American" Karate-do!

  • @shureikanshihan, Did I ask you to give me a ridiculousness response? Nope I did not. You must study ignorance where you come from.

  • @ShorinRyuRonin I sincerely apologize. Most Shorin-Ryu Karate-Ka I have studied with the last 38 years, aren't so sensitive. It is a common thread passed down by Soken "Bushi" Matsumura one of it's founders. Ronin's were Samurai with no master "to serve" and according to legend were supposed to commit Sepuki. The same wanna be warriors that Matsumura's royal bodyguards beat the crap out of on a daily basis in old Okinawa. But with your infinite wisdom I'm sure you knew this: Osu

  • @shureikanshihan, Ronin were master-less but most not by choice, they were forced by the master to leave and become Ronin. I am not sensitive but will not tolerate insults, I am respectful and discuss or argue but no need for insults.

  • Thanks for share
